let's just get down to it
1) GOLDEN TRUTH
VS
BREEZANGO
NO.
NO.
NO.
I can't even begin to tell you how upset I was with this match. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the pairing of each team, but what they did with Tyler + Fandango getting "burned" was just stupid. I want to know if there's a 5 year old in the creative team. Actually, scratch that. A five year old could compose a better match than the creative team.
I whole-heartedly applaud all four men for being good sports about it, but it makes me really damn sad to see guys like Tyler + Fandango be reduced to something so insignificant. These men didn't go through rough training just to be put on tv in an ultimately ridiculous story line. They do the best with whatever they're given, but I often times feel like this is Vince's doing + punishment.
Overall, I suppose I am happy with the victors because I'm a Golden Truth kinda girl.
Grade: D-
(next time, just let them have a damn match without these little "burning" incidents. those four men are all charismatic enough to produce something beyond entertaining without props).
2) THE LUCHA DRAGONS
VSTHE DUDLEY BOYZ
I love the Lucha Dragons. I love all the flippity flip flip action they do + the fact that they defeated the Dudley's is an added bonus. I don't really have much to say about the match because truthfully, although it was good, I don't think it should have been added to the card. Adding it at the last minute made it feel like a RAW/Smackdown where there is always a pointless match.
GRADE: C+
(nothing horrible about it, I just wish they would have either added another WOMEN'S MATCH or added time to the only women's match on the card).
3) SAWFT VS THE CLUB VS THE NEW DAY VS THE VAUDEVILLAINS
(my ocd kicked in and i had to alphabetize).
If there's anything I hate more than pointless matches added to ppv's, it's over-crowded matches.
HOWEVER, these four tag-teams had me entertained. Asides from the Shinning Stars, I genuinely do like all the tag-team's in the WWE. The video of this match on the WWE's YT channel is filled with comments about how messy the match was + how many botches there was, but I can look aside that because what do you expect to happen when 9 men share a ring??
It can be the prettiest recital.
My only concerns with this match are The New Day & Sawft as it seems like the crowd is unanimously on the New Day's side. The two teams are currently baby face + that seems to be working against them because if you ask me, Sawft SHOULD be feuding against The New Day. I feel protective over the New Day, so anyone that goes against them is automatically my enemy. With Sawft, I'd fear that if they turned them "heel" they'd have Big Cass betray Enzo. Although I've loved the New Day as baby faces, we all know they can pull off being heel once more.
Another concern of mine is that if it becomes the New Day vs Sawft, the Vaudevillains will be left out which is sad because I really do love Aiden & Gotch.
I suppose people can complain all they want on wrestling forums and the Youtube comment's section about how "botchy" this match was, but you can't deny the fact that the crowd was on board and at one point even chanting, "This is awesome!" You don't do that if you're not entertained.
A few silly things I'd like to point out:
- Enzo desperately needs more training. It can always be Big Cass who saves him or does all the ring work because what's gonna happen when Big Cass is put down? To me, Cass is the total package. He can wrestle, deliver the meanest big boot since Barrett + can work that mic! Enzo's charisma is a whole other planet, but they guy could definitely benefit from a bit more training. It's easy to look aside's ones mistakes when they're as confidence + electric as Enzo, but it wont be easy to look away when he injures himself at his hands or someone else.
- Xavier + Kofi are the ultimate sellers. When Simon Gotch nailed Kofi in the midsection, Kofi fucking flew! Then there was Xavier's magnificent selling of Doc's massive boot to the face.
I applaud these two magical unicorns for selling so epicly. I have no clue how they do it, because if someone hit me, I'd just lay in the ground and cry a river.
- Nearly cried when Big E hit that spear on Gotch from between the ropes + landed outside. I always get anxious seeing wrestlers do that because it reminds me of the time Lita suicide dived from the ropes and broke her neck.
- I will NEVER get tired of Big Cass "throwing" Enzo + Enzo's look of surprise.
Grade: B-
( I was SUPER HOOKED + TND won! )
4) BARON CORBIN
VS
DOLPH ZIGGLER
Rumors are that Ziggler is to leave by the end of 2016 / and or early 2017. If that's the truth, good on him for working with Corbin to put him over. Personally, I goddamn adore Baron. I love his "give no shits" gimmick + how he claims he's doing it all for the money.
Like I've said it before, Baron's really improved since his NXT days + has proved that he can hang on his own against anyone. The guy's a total powerhouse beast + I can't wait to someday see him hold gold.
I'd love to see Baron feud against Roman or Owens.
GRADE: A
5) CHARLOTTE + BLOW UP DOLL DANA BROOKE
VS BECKY + NATALYA.
I'm really really fed up with Charlotte's angle where she constantly needs SOMEONE. Dana adds NOTHING but insignificance to the cause and if I'm being honest, I nearly fell asleep for this match.
The only good thing came when Natalya betrayed Bex and I'm only saying that because I pray on all good things that it turns into a feud and that at Battleground, there's not one, but TWO women's matches.
GRADE: C-
6) SHEAMUS VS APOLLO
Overall a great match between two massive dudes.
GRADE: B+
7) AJ STYLES
VS
JOHN CENA
Straight of the bat, this match was booked/hyped as a 5-star match and it was exactly just that! A lot of people aren't happy with how AJ won, but to that I say, "FUCK IT ALL!" I want to see these two engage in a million more matches BECAUSE:
- Styles + Cena have the best chemistry / ring psychology
- they know how to reel the crowd in
- styles brought the best out of cena + moves cena normally doesn't use
- it's the phenomenal one vs the chosen one like c'mon on!!
I could rave about this match for a whole year and not have enough time to say every single thing I loved about it. Whenever John's facing off against an Indy darling (Punk, Owens, now Styles), he's proven to be more than just the chosen guy from Vince's corner. Cena CAN wrestle & hang in with these veterans. I wish he'd wrestle the way he did against Punk, Owens, and Styles all the time, but now that I think about it, it's like an element of surprise whenever Cena pulls off a sunset flip power bomb or any other move he rarely utilizes. Asides from Cena having an arsenal, he's also a magnificent seller.
I'll never forget the day that Cena sold that BANNED piledriver for Punk.
From end to beginning, the match was lit! The crowd at the start was relentless, rooting for the two men and then switching over to Styles for a bit. What I like best is how both men are cheered for, but then boo'd for at the same time. The crowd is at a division, completely confused and hypocritical at times, and I love how neither men gives a shit!
THEY ARE PLAYING US ALL!
In addition, Styles is a god. The man is nearly 40 years old and is still moving as fast as he did when he was in his 20's - 30's. Okay, maybe he's slowed down a bit but holy fuck not really.
His kicks are perfection, his forearms are deadly, and one of my favorite parts throughout the entire match was the element of cleverness Styles brought out, constantly out-smarting Cena with his velocity.
When someone moves as fast as Styles,
lol yeah,
Cena can't see him.
xD
This match is more than worthy of 5-stars because both men were equally booked. It wasn't just Cena kicking out of Styles finishers, it was also AJ who kicked out of the AA multiple times and that's goddamn beautiful.
GRADE: A+++++
8) MITB LADDER MATCH
Albeit, when this match came on, I was still marking out over Styles + Cena. I might stand alone here, but I still preferred Cena + Styles over the ladder match. The ladder match was by no means bad, but you know ... I'm a Styles kinda girl. I'm still marking out over the fact that he's in the WWE, facing off against the golden poster boy Cena.
Onto the ladder match though, it was actually really really fucking good. It's not that I NOT expected all the men to tear it down, but I did get a bit paranoid thinking that maybe they wouldn't be allotted enough time and that things could get sloppy or what not.
Luckily for all of us, the match was also a proper 5-stars. I could watch Kevin + Sami fighting each other for a whole life time.
My favorite spot in the match was then Cesaro had everyone cornered and began delivering uppercuts, followed by Kevin cannon balling everyone, and then precious Sami kicking every one's face in.
Also, Kevin + Sami were really out to annihilate each other ++ is it just me or did Cesaro take some serious damage? I mean, all of them did but I feel like he was definitely the one taking the most pain.
This ladder match is the best we've had in a while and it provided us with this lovely gif:
9) TITUS
VS
RUSEV
100% real here,
I skipped this match.
Grade: What did you think about this match?
10) SETH ROLLINS
VS ROMAN REIGNS.
Had Seth not won, I would have absolutely rioted. Personally, I wasn't all that hyped for this match, but I was proven wrong. The only issue I had with this match was that for the most part, Roman dominated and thus once again looked like the stronger individual when it's clear that both can bud heads. I wish it would have been more evenly executed like Cena/Styles where both men had their parts to shine unlike Roman who had most of the brutal spots.
Overall, the match was good and thankfully, Rollins validated his point.
He did not lose his championship,
he can defeat Roman.
//
the best part of the match for me was when Dean cashed in his MITB briefcase + nailed Seth with the dirty deeds to FINALLY become the WWE World Heavy Weight Champion.
I can't even begin to tell you how much I cried,
but this photo - set sums it up perfectly:
Dean Ambrose has been put through hell ever since he didn't win the 2015 MITB. He's suffered being reduced to mid-card position, thrown to Roman for Reigns's benefit, then given pointless matches and even kept out of a few PPV's which is BOGUS.
I wept like a baby seeing him finally hold that belt + the story is just so fitting that he cashed in on Rollins and not Roman. Clearly, Dean took seth's betrayal worse than Roman because while Roman still calls Seth "his little brother" Dean says it like it is, "scumbag."
GRADE: A
STRAY OBSERVATION / RANDOM FAVORITE MOMENTS
a . Cesaro being a cutie swiss-roll.
b. i live for big cass throwing enzo like this:
c. kevin is brutal
me whenever sami + kevin go at it:
d. natalya backstabbing bex had me like:
it breaks my heart, but i can't wait for soulless becky
aka soulless senpai
e. pretty epic moves
f. this stare down gives me life
the rage oh the rage!!
g. dean hitting seth IN THE FACE
+ the crowd's reaction // dean celebrating on top of the announce table reminded me of Eddie Guerrero's win against Brock Lesnar.
also, for some reason the image/gif won't upload, but one of my favorite moments was when dean retrieved the briefcase from the top. there's a brief moment in which he puts his head down and that's where I was absolutely bawling. as silly as it sounds, that briefcase is validation that the company is trusting him enough to give him a big push. he probably knew he'd be winning and how is he not to be emotional about that? Dean is a guy like CM Punk who by all means should be champion, but by all means also not the mold of what they look for.
Yet there is , finally established.
I've read a bit on Dean's (Jon's) past and from what I read, it doesn't sound like he had the cheeriest of childhood's / teenage years. To see that someone who comes from a troubled origins make it that far, godamn. I'm crying right now.
xD
