I saw something on tumblr, and it bothered me so much ... that it sent me straight to typing this up.
Am I the only one who thinks the Gauntlet Match wasn't a total fail? Okay, so I'm about to rip someone a new one here, and before you think I'm the saltiest person on earth ... just remember that I once used to hate Charlotte.
I never thought I'd like her, and now I do. I can eat my words. She's divine. I once used to hate Braun Strowman so much, I used to call him Braun Scrotum. He grew on me.
Right now, I'm not a fan of Nia Jax ... at all. But that could change, just not right now.
The only embarrassing thing I found in this match was how weak they made Mickie James, Dana (someone who I've never been fond off ), Bayley, and Emma look. More than that, it was disrespectful as hell how the women mentioned only served as squash finishers for Nia.
Adding to this, I have to say that the only person who made Nia look good was Sasha. Even if Sasha was the one to defeat Nia, she made her look good.
Which brings me to my next point: Sasha Banks can make any one look good. Listen, Banks has lots of years ahead of her career ... and she's also years ahead of everyone in her league (Raw's Women's Division).
If I'm right, Sasha's been wrestling since 2010? Correct me if I'm wrong. Since NXT, she's had this ability to make a match not only work in her favor, but in her rival's favor as well.
I call this the AJ Styles factor. Now, of course Banks will (hopefully) only get better, but to me, she is the only woman who can carry a match with just about anyone.
I was going to say Charlotte, but then I remembered this disasterous moment:

So this all Nia's demise, but if you go back and watch this match ... Charlotte tried her best, but she just couldn't recover to produce a good enough match out of Jax.
That said, I know it sounds like I'm kissing Sasha's ass, but I do mean it. As I say this, let me preface that I am not a damn stan for Sasha Banks. Actually, let me just get it out there that I hate the word stan.
I hate the connotation behind it. If you want my true feelings on that word, here it is:
Stans to me are the opposite of fans. As I've said before, STANS are the Mark Chapman's to John Lennon's. If you get the reference, hooray for you. If you don't, educate yourself.
I know Sasha's been guilty of messing up a few times, and that's alright with me because it happens to everyone.
That said, I've noticed that Sasha's botch rate when it comes to suicide rates is a near 99%.
If you hate Sasha Banks, I don't care. Good for you. I'm not going to came after your ass because there's this thing called opinions. Even more mind blowing, people's opinions can differ, and that doesn't mean we gotta go into a nuclear war about it.
On Youtube, WWE uploaded the video as Raw's historic first-ever Women's Gauntlet Match.
Now, personally, I think that if you're going to deem anything as historic ... it should be over the top. There was nothing over the top about last night's women's match.
Surprise surprise, untalented Nia squashed most of the talented women before another talented woman made Jax tap out.
I know it's harsh to call Nia untalented, but I've yet to see her do anything impressive on the MR.
In NXT, she put on quite the good show with Bayley in their title match in TakeOver London. To me, that was one of Bayley's moments in which she carried someone who was new. That's important to note because of course Bayley can produce a heck of a match with someone who has an equal / more skill set like her.
Since coming up to the MR, Nia's been atrocious in the ring. On the microphone, she still doesn't convince me. Her facial expressions even come off as watered down to me.
Another thing, for someone (like Nia) who is advertised as such a strong and big competitor, she is weak. If Sasha Banks can carry Charlotte and eat her moon saults, then you best believe that I am going to expect the same for Nia.
But as you see in that video from above (the one with Charlotte), Nia almost killed our Queen, twice.
Off with her head I say!
As Alexa Bliss's "backup" she's still weak. Now, a lot of people have drawn comparisons to Alexa's + Nia's partnership being similar to AJ's and Tamina's ... and to that I have to say: don't insult Tamina.
Alexa can hold her own, but Nia cannot, and Tamina could hold her own when with AJ. You look at Tamina, and she looks tough, she looks bad. She looks like someone who I wouldn't want to mess with, and it's not just because of her stature or build.
It's this aura and swag that Nia, does not (if ever) possess. I don't know if it's a confidence or inexperience thing, but Nia just comes off as green.
Back to her build, when I hear Graves + Michael gush about how strong she is ... I want gag. Half the time she wavers the opponent like a wobbly mess. Girl, if you're advertised as a strong as fuck person, you better hit the gym and be able to lift twice your weight easily.
More than that, her striking is so soft ... You all know I don't like Paige anymore, but even Paige's falloway slams had more of an impact effect than the way Nia tumbles someone to the ground with a Samoan Drop.

You're a strong woman, I wanna hear a damn snap crackle pop when you hit.
I know that Sasha and Alexa have had beef IRL and probably still hate each other, but let me just point out that when a 120 pounder can strike harder than Nia, there's something to be said about the way Jax delivers:
Go to 3:48
That drop kick Sasha hit on Alexa had more power to it than anything Nia's done in the MR.
The only thing that Nia did that looked slightly painful was this, and it was mostly Dana's doing:
I don't know if Sasha + Nia mutually agreed to make each other look good last night (when facing off against one another only) or if Sasha brings and edge out to Nia, but they work well together.
Talk about what an underrated seller Sasha Banks is. I swear, this girl will make it look like she died and contorted her body for our entertainment:
In conclusion, I love Sasha Banks. I don't like Nia Jax. I don't think there's anything impressive about Nia. Maybe in a few months I'll change my mind about her, but not today.
I think Sasha and Charlotte are the only women who can carry a match with anyone and 100% build hype to it. It was a smart decision to send one to SD and keep one in the MR because a) even though I could see sasha and charlotte fued forever, that feud grew stale and b) we need one of the best on each show.
You guys know I love Becky Lynch to death, and even Naomi ... but I feel like they still need more time to grow. Do I watch their matches and love them? Yeah. Do they blow my mind? Nah.
That could be because I think neither has had the opportunity to face someone with equal talent to them, but who knows. Also, before you guys remind me that both have clashed with Nattie at one point ... I do love Natalya and thinks she's a great wrestler, but she can also be very boring in the ring to me AND when she screams, I hit that mute button.
If there's anything I'll never like, it's Nattie's "aaaaaaaah" screaming. The tone, the pitch, just no.
Okay, FINAL FINAL NOTES:
I'm excited to see Sasha in the title picture again. Unlike Paige when she was in the title picture for over a whole damn year, Sasha can actually generate an A+, thrilling, chemistry filled match.
Being that Alexa and her have never been nice with one another, I'm expecting drama. I'm thinking we'll see harder hits and more aggression.
I was thinking they'd finally give Emma a push into the title picture, but I guess not right now. I need Emma to feud with Bayley though. I need that Aussie to resurrect the Bayley that is nice, but also can hit.
Personally, I want to see Sasha as champ because she hasn't had a proper run as Raw's Women Champion, and for someone who makes everyone look good whenever facing off against them (win or lose), she deserves it.
I know people like to throw stones at Banks and say she steals opportunities for everyone because the spotlight only goes to her, but may I remind you that she's never once buried / killed / made look as bad as Alexa made Bayley look like shit.
Yeah, I know it was a creative decision, but Alexa can't carry a match. I do like her, and bite me, but Alexa relies on her expressions 90% of the time because her movement is slow (although I think she has tons of potential), she paces around matches too much to boast which I get heels are supposed to do, but hers is like eh (to me), and again, she can't make her opponent look good.
There's a way of squashing / defeating your opponent and still making him look good.
Do you need examples?
- Cm Punk defeats John Cena Money in the Bank 2011
- Chris Jericho defeats AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 32
- Dolph Ziggler ( anytime he's lost)
- Kevin Owens defeats John Cena at Elimination Chamber 2016
- John Cena defeats Sami Zayn May 4, 2015 U.S. Open challenge.
- Sami Zayn defeats Kevin Owens Battleground 2016.
And the legendary Undertaker defeats Shawn Michaels at WM match.
There's plenty more examples of matches that make both the winner and loser look great, so take notes, Bliss.
