JUNE 2017 UPDATE: IF YOU'RE READING THIS, THEN YES, I AM RE-PUBLISHING OLD CHAPTERS. MAN I AM CRINGING HARD AT SOME OF THESE, BUT LET'S HAVE A GOOD LAUGH ALL TOGETHER, OKAY?

SUBJECT: PAIGE
Okay, here's how we're going to do it to give this some remote structure. I'll break it into personality, wrestling ability, experience, social media, etc.
1) PERSONALITY
I'm a massive fan of Paige and her personality is something I adore about her. With that being said, I can see how her British humor can get her in trouble sometime. If you guys aren't aware, there's a rumor that Paige has backstage heat for a cursing a fan out on some facebook chat thing. I've linked you guys to the video, take a look at it yourself.
There's two sides that I see to this:
A) Are they really punishing her for cursing? The more I say it out loud, the more childish it sounds. These are ADULTS who are speaking to teenagers that most of the time have no idea what impact their words have on others. I don't blame her for telling that person to go fuck himself too BUT
B) She should know better. I get it, she's young but I strictly believe that as long as you're still on the clock for work, you should remain professional. As a matter of fact, with her status she should try to remain as professional and level-headed as possible. You know how many times Punk probably wanted to go off air and curse Vince the fuck out? He did, but that was only after he wasn't a part of the WWE anymore. (Go watch that epic Colt Cabana podcast if you haven't.) His pipebomb was approved, so that's a diff. situation.
There are many who have said fame has changed Paige, and although I adore her,I can't help but to sometimes agree. I think she can be too honest at times and even sticks her foot in her mouth at times, especially as of lately. She seems very arrogant as of lately and holds herself in a higher regard.
I'm not hating, I'm just stating as I see.
2) WRESTLING
Paige is in serious urge of new moves. Not saying she can't do them, rather she needs be let free and bring back stuff from her matches in Shimmer. She can do more than clotheslines, etc.
With that being said, her kicks, clotheslines, and knees have been so sloppy as of lately that I seriously want her to be sent back to NXT because
3) GIMMICK
The biggest reason why I think I sometimes feel a disconnect from Paige and her delivery is because of her gimmick. Here's a girl who's been heel, babyface back and forth in a period of short times. One day she's heel and the next hour she's baby face.
This must be so confusing and makes it impossible for her to grasp onto one enough to sell it as good as she can/has.Back to NXT. Now that Charlotte + Sasha + Becky have been sent to the main roster, I hope they are all given equal opportunities. Paige would benefit going back to NXT because like Emma, she can improve her character that's been ruined in the main roster. Emma's nailed her heel persona in NXT, and that's because they haven't changed it back and forth. She's had time to get used to it and sell it brilliantly. Paige NEEDS to either go down to NXT to do that OR have creative realize what / who the ANTI Diva really is.
If Paige's roles wasn't changed so often, she'd really resemble Seth Rollins. Her character is naturally quite bratty and selfish, only sticking out for herself. Seth's killing it as a heel and if Paige would be given consistency, she could too. When she's full throttle heel, she stands out from the crowd with her unique look.
4) WRESTLING
Back to Wrestling. There's an interview from a panel from 8 months ago where Paige is being praised for her wrestling. Paige shrugs it off and says she hates her wrestling, saying she can't even re-watch her matches. This to me showed insecurity and humility in a good way. She knows she's not doing her best or isn't at her top game like she used to be. I like that wrestler's can recognize her.
But then about two months ago she had an interview with Rosenburgs I believe and she pretty much said she has a lot of experience and considers herself a veteran in the WWE to new girls.
HOLD UP-This girl has been wrestling since she was 13 and sometimes it doesn't show because when you stack her up next to Banks or Bayley who have been wrestling for less amount of time, they're better. Paige does have a lot of experience, but not WWE experience.
The WWE is very different from other Indy organizations. It's not just about putting on a show, it's about delivering your lines and getting good camera angles. About having chemistry and all those good things.
5) TOTAL DIVAS + TOUGH ENOUGH
I hate Total Divas. I hate it, I hate it. With that said, I have seen a few episodes. Sometimes the show does a good job of portraying the girl's real personas but other times it makes me want to hate them. This isn't Paige's fault, rather creative's fault. I like that Paige probably doesn't LOVE the idea of having to be in TD but uses it as a platform to spread good messages, no matter who cheesy and scripted it may seem at times.
As an "Anti-Diva" her being on TD makes absolutely NO SENSE.
Now, Tough Enough.
Dear God don't even get me started. I resented the fact that she would talk over adorable DB who was too polite to shut her up. She knows she's loud and obnoxious but girl, have some respect for your coworkers.
Sending Patrick home wasn't the best choice but I did agree with her. He needed some humility taught BUT, now it seems as if she's the one that could use some humbling up.
6) SOCIAL MEDIA, SPEC. TWITTER
Paige's instagram is bomb, but her Twitter...
I recently saw Table for 3 with Dean, Cesaro, and Owens and when Ambrose talked about how compared to the Indy's, even their bad days in the WWE are good, I couldn't help but to think of Paige.
Here's a girl who's traveled all around the world at a young age and has recently come off as very entitled. I feel like for a while, Paige got too comfortable with it all.
I can't go to her twitter without shaking my head sometimes. 98% of is her complaining. I get it, we all complain, I'm doing it right now but I just wish she'd do more than just that. It shows a rather bitter side of her and also, I kinda low-key resent the fact that she didn't congratulate Sasha + Bayley.
She's heel and blah blah, but If Mrs.Banks can break kayfabe, so can Paige.
7) AGE
Paige's age is such a huge factor. Some people defend her actions because of her age, but let's get real. Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss are also her age and seem/act 100x more mature than Paige. I know Paige is never going to be that put together girl, and I don't want her to be but sometimes I feel like she's grasping for words in interviews.
Like her Stone Cold podcast interview-YIKES!
The highlight of that was her boobs.
I'll forgive her cause it's Stone Cold and she was obviously nervous AF. Her podcast with Y2J was much better and therefore tells me she can do these.
Now when comparing her to Sasha or Alexa in age, there's the added pressure. Neither Sasha nor Alexa have had the massive success Paige started with. She held both the NXT Divas Title and the Divas Title at one point. She won it on her first night in the roster and that's A LOT to live up to. I can only imagine the pressure she was put under.
Paige in the main roster is battling out with girls years older than her, and with tons more WWE experience than her. That alone is enough reason to understand her apprehension but girl, when the spotlight is on you you gotta perform.
I think that part of the reason why there's a hug disconnect between Paige and the majority of the girls is because there's no real connection tbh. Paige and AJ worked brilliantly and that's because you can tell they were really friends and wanted the best for one another.
Paige + Foxy
Paige + Emma
Have insanely good chemistry, but other than that...it falls short.
8) FINAL VERDICT
Paige started out as my favorite diva, and as of lately she's kinda faded for me. Maybe it's because Bayley and Sasha have been killing it while Becky stole my heart from the start. Nikki has improved leaps, as has Brie and her Daniel kicks really tune me in.
I think Paige has been going through a rough spot where she's clearly having an ego issue. She needs a few weeks off to train and just clear her mind. She's only 23 and already held the Divas Championship twice.
I think that the sky is the limit for Paige, but I also think that she is her own worse enemy. If she focuses on wrestling and gets her act together, I really do think she can go far because:
Very similar to AJ, I think Paige being so new to the business is still trying to find her own ground and testing the waters. She knows she's fairly new or still not up there, so she can't really speak up much.
Knowing how AJ is, I know she must have had about 100x100 complaints about how to improve from the start, but couldn't voice them until she was at her prime.
I think that in the years to come, Paige WILL be a force to be reckon with. I think she'll speak out like AJ did with Stephanie and that she'll have more moves that are spot on. When she delivers her super kick, oh lord, it's magical.
We've seen that she's capable of doing them, example, German Suplex to Sasha and all the new moves she brought out in that match against Nattie last week. She just needs to either get on her good behavior to be cut some slack and creative freedom or kiss ass to the right people as Punk once said.
I still love Paige, but lately her bratty complaining side has gotten the best out of me.
_ _ _
That was my long ass rant.
What do you guys think?
