38 | battleground!

Yo!
Right off the bat, this event was lit!
(at least in my opinion).

Oh goodness gracious, where do I even start?

First off, MASSIVE shout out to my boss Cain for having Battleground play at work. He knew I asked for the day off to enjoy the event at home, but then had to call me in when a co-worker of mine had to take an emergency leave.

So instead of missing out on the event, he played it at work which meant a lot to me because we usually have pretty zen stuff on the monitors. Our cafe is chill and there's always some motivational ted talk on, so for wrestling to take over for the day, for me to see grown ass women and men get into it was just amazing.

Cain's a massive fan of the WWE + a fellow Wattpadian. Even though he doesn't read wwe related fanfics (or so who knows), he does read my reviews "rants" on these events, so if you're reading this right now Cain--

from the bottom of my cold dead heart, thank you!

you're the real mvp.

1) Sasha Banks
+ most importantly, Bayley

vs Dana & Charlotte.

BAYLEY HAS RISEN!

She may not have debuted onto the main roster yet, but she FINALLY made an appearance on a PPV & ugh, my heart felt so much.

As if I wasn't already stoked enough when pure sunshine Bayley walked down the ramp, my heart skipped a few beats when I realized that her + sasha were wearing matching ring gear.

Together, those two melt me and make me a big sobbing, proud mother of two (bayley + sasha).

As far as the match goes: 10/10.

I wish they'd of been given more time, but with the seven minutes they were given, all four women put on a hell of a show. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Dana Brooke,  I must admit that she's holding her own ; so good for her.

Bayley always delivers + Charlotte proves again that she's better off not talking and just fighting because that's how she shines the most.

Again, I'm not a fan of Charlotte, BUT I have to say that her fighting style + moves are dominant enough for her to not require the need for mic segments. Whenever she's on the mic, she very much irks me (not because of what she says) but because of her delivery and need to scream.

My only fear for Charlotte is that as a heel, I can't see her as a baby face. I cannot see myself ever cheering for the blonde + accepting her as anything other than heel, so we'll see where the future takes her.

Onto Sasha now,

Is it me or did she terribly botch an attempted hurricarana tonight?

If she did, it's safe to say that EVERYONE makes mistakes + before some people cry sour grapes that if it was Eva making the mistake I'd never shut up about it --

we know that Sasha can wrestle,

Eva cannot.

Sasha's proven herself,
Eva has not.

Case closed.

Watching Bayley + Sasha team up tonight made me awfully emotional because those two are REALLY the future of the Women's Division. I'm not bashing any of the other girls, but to me, the heart + soul of the women's division is Bayley & Sasha.

I can't wait for them to clash once more & please mark my words:

I keep having dreams where it's WM 32 and Bayley faces off against (Sasha who's the Women's Champ). Very much like Stone Cold Steve Austin at WM 13, Sasha will go into the match a cold hearted heel and Bayley will go in as the ultimate baby face like Brett Hart did. By the end of the match, the classic role switch will happen and Bayley comes out the heel and Sasha the baby face.

Sasha as a heel is amazing, but I think she'll shine even more as a baby face because she's SO damn likable and too good to be boo'd.

And Bayley, the symbol of all good things at some point will need to go bad and I really do think she can pull it off.

As for now,
I'll enjoy these two as they are--
simply the best.

Other random things I'd like to point out about this match:

Sasha's reaction to Bayley arriving

God is real.

The two ACTUALLY FUCKING WINNING WITH A GOOD ENDING:

The two hugging afterwards:

Hug Life is the best life to live.

2) THE WYATT FAMILY
VS THE NEW DAY

this match was fucking lit!!!

10/10.

my two favorite factions collided and it was just fantastic.

I love this so much!

Bray's new look is my aesthetic + also,
can we talk about the New Day's entrance pose?

ICONIC.

Random points:

- Big E took a nasty tumble to his head when he speared Erick/Braun off the apron.
- Kofi flew and it was majestic.

- Xavier's acting skills along with Bray's are one of a kind.

i can't believe xavier was gonna propose to bray

The Wyatt Club winning had me like:

Battleground is the Wyatt's Family turf + the best PPV for them to be victorious in.

I can't wait for Luke Harper to return + hopefully replace Braun since I still can't stand Strowman, BUT with that said, Bray has carried his family to success.

Don't get me wrong, Erick + Luke are amazing wrestlers,
but Bray's just on another planet for me.

He can wrestle + in my opinion as the best senton bomb.

Regardless of what little they're given, Bray always slays on the microphone and remains my #1 on the mic. He's so underrated it pains me + he's completely stepped it up more than before since the Wyatt's return.

His promos are my favorite + his voice (next to Enzo's) is just music to my ears. Bray Wyatt desperately needs to be on the title picture against Dean // champion at some point.

I'd love for Bray vs Finn to occur / I just can't stop fangirling about Bray fucking Wyatt.

- Also, I'm really happy knowing that the New Day are the current, longest reigning WWE Tag-Team Champions. A few chapters back I said that this would happen, and voila!

These three men deserve the spotlight and I honestly feel like my heart will break if they ever tear apart.

The Shield was great,
but nothing's moved me like the New Day has.

Nothing makes me happier than three grown ass BLACK men stealing the spotlight without even trying, defying the mold of racial diversity issues in the WWE + being the top merch sellers.

- I also can't wait for the day that we have either Kofi, Xavier, or Big E as WWE Champion.

3) RUSEV
VS ZACK RYDER

Ugh.

I love Rusev. I actually find him entertaining + like his wrestling style,
BUT ...
WHY?

Why can't they just let Zack Ryder win?
Do another six years need to pass by before the man can win another belt?

This man has the "looks", the height, the wrestling ability, the charisma, the crowd behind him, and basically is THE ENTIRE PACKAGE yet they always book him horribly, which brings me to my next point.

4) BECKY LYNCH
VS NATALYA

WHO THE FUCK IS IN CHARGE OF BECKY LYNCH'S ATROCIOUS WWE BOOKING?

Dear god, if you ever feel bad about Paige's terrible booking,
just take a look at Becky's.
It's like they hate her.

What's the point of building Becky up so much if they're always going to drop the ball on her? I get it, she's the underdog, but the under dog has got to win his/ her battles too!

I'm so fucking upset with the match and that pains me to say because I adore Becky Lynch and Natalya.

For me, something was missing.

I felt like they lacked energy + needed more time to validate Becky and her recent savagery.
How many more weeks are we going to get of the same repetitive cycle between Natalya and Bex?
They deserve better.

Becky should have won,
and this match unfortunately should have been the starting match because Sasha's and Bayley's match against Charlotte + Dana was far more entertaining.

If Becky keeps on losing I swear,
I'm going to a live WWE event and protesting.

side note: did ya'll catch becky in that sweet the club shirt? NEXT TO JOHN CENA??

5) DARREN YOUNG

VS THE MIZ

The only other match that terribly upset me because
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!

I cringe so damn hard at all those, "Make Darren Young Great Again" segments because the guy's already a good wrestler + the segments are just so damn cheesy.

I was rooting for Darren.
I wanted to see his beautiful double knee fireman's gutbuster whatever it's called.
I wanted him to win.

INSTEAD, we get another pointless match with an atrocious ending when it could have been good / instead put on the pre-show to allow for a women's match to have MORE TIME.

Ugh.

Side note:

Maryse slays my entire life with her godly aura + I loved the Phantom of the Opera ish masks theme they had going on.

 //

Well guys,
I'm going to be splitting this into two, maybe even three parts because I HAVE SO MUCH TO FUCKING SAY ABOUT THE MISSING MATCHES.

I'm contemplating making a single chapter for that Sami vs Kevin match because my god,
I was in tears.

That chapter (part 2-3) should be up in a few minutes. I'll type it up quickly & yeah, please feel free to leave your comments down below.

What did you think about Battleground?

I personally loved it, (asides from two matches).

This is very random, but because I received 2 messages concerning these rants and how I write them--

I just want to state that this is a rant. While I do review MOST of the show / ppv / etc, this isn't meant to be taken like an actual published review in some professional wrestling forum or website.

These are simply my thoughts and being that it's a rant, i like to keep it REAL and just TYPE. I really don't edit through these unless I feel like I did a terrible job + know that I made several typos.

So, if you find that my grammar is atrocious here or that I make too many typos, do let me know and I will try. If there's one-two, please forgive me, I just type right after the show ends.

Well,
I'm off to write part II.
Leave your comments down below! :D
