[4] Who Is He?
You and Peter were walking side by side to your house. He insisted on walking you home while you denied the kind offer. He won the little fight and now you two were almost home.
"Shoot my parents are gonna be interrogating me." A thought just came to your head. You took out your phone and pressed the button to find 4 missed called from your mom.
"Ohh fuck.." You breathed not knowing whether to call back or not.
"What's wrong?" Peter asked turning his head to you. You shook your head. "I didn't tell my parents where I was. They're gonna be questioning me all night." You sighed opening your phone again to check the time. 5:12 pm.
"Spider-Man?" Peter noted seeing your wallpaper. You gave a nervous chuckle. "Yeah he's my favorite superhero." You replied putting your phone back down.
"He is?" Peter asked again his head bowing down with a slight smirk on his face. "Yeah I saw him one time but he was just swinging between buildings. It looks fun, but knowing me I might throw up." You laughed as you saw your apartment building approaching.
Peter nodded with a cheeky smile on his face where there were crinkles around his eyes. You almost stared at him in awe, but you held back.
Suddenly he got so shy when you started talking about Spider-Man... huh, weird...
"This is my apartment." You then said stopping in front of your stairs. Peter looked at the number painted on the door, #78.
"Thanks again, Peter. You're really sweet." You complimented before reaching up and giving a friendly hug to Peter. You squeezed in a little before pulling away. You saw his face and there was a flush of pink on his cheeks.
"No problem, (y/n). It was a pleasure." He said without stuttering since you saw how his body started to get the nerves.
"Oh wait," Peter reached in his pocket. He took out the receipt from the cafe. "Here." He handed you the receipt. "Why?" You asked looking at the typing on the paper. "Turn it around." You did as told and found 10 digits with a smiley face. You giggled folding up the receipt smiling up at Peter.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" You asked as you started up the stairs. Peter only nodded while shoving his hands in his pockets.
Once you grinned at him, you turned around to reach for the glass door. Before you could get your hand on the handle, your dad appeared at the door when he opened the inner door. Your eyes went wide. He only eyed you down with the 'you-have-some-explaining-to-do' type of look.
You turned back around to Peter who was still at the bottom of the steps. "Bye, Peter." You waved as he waved back. "Bye."
Turning back around to the door, you opened the glass door as your dad moved over and let you in. He moved away as you closed the wooden door behind you, glancing back at Peter who was turning his way to leave.
"Where were you?" Your dad asked in a not so stern voice. You put your bag down by a nearby chair and started explaining.
"Okay so, I met the guy that was with me at school because the principal set me up with him. He was a shadow who had almost the same classes as me so he was guiding me throughout the day." You said as clearly as you could. Your mom appeared in the kitchen wiping her hands with a dish towel.
"So then at the end of the day, the principal gave me my locker and it so happened to be next to him–his name is Peter Parker. So then after school, we decided to go to the cafe down 27 so we got to know each other more."
"(Y/n) you know you're suppose to tell us where you were. Did you see my calls?" Your mom interjected coming into the room.
"I know and I got so into knowing Peter that I kept my phone in my bag and forgot to check it at the end of the day." You ended your explanation looking at both of your parents. They both were just looking at you and it did feel awkward. Your mom broke eye contact and went back into the kitchen.
"I'm sorry I wasn't holding my phone, but Peter is a really nice guy and he helped me meet new friends..." You started to walk into the kitchen to see what was cooking for dinner.
"I believe you (y/n), he seems like a chill guy." Your dad stated. You looked over your shoulder. "That's an adjective you rarely use." You scoffed playfully opening the fridge. "But you need to tell us where you were. I was worried." Your mom added in.
"I know I know, I'm sorry." You sighed picking up a soda from the fridge.
"But how was your first day? You made friends?" Your mom changed the subject. You nodded starting to go on about your day.
"But then when I was leaving campus with Peter, I saw Mikey..." your voice trailed off. Your mom put down the cooking spoon and didn't turn around, just stayed looking at the window she was in front of. Your dad's eyes peeked over his reading glasses at you.
"(Y/n)...why didn't you tell us?" Your mom sighed. "I forgot he went to Midtown. I was so focused on myself that when he called me and Peter out because apparently if a guy is with a girl they're together," you said the last part with such sarcasm, "I saw his face and I didn't know what to do."
You started your way up the stairs to your room. "But didn't he kiss your cousin when we invited him over for thanksgiving?" Your dad stated. The memories started coming back. You closed your eyes.
"Yeah...yeah he did. It's still so gross." You almost gagged finally jogging your way up the stairs and into your room.
You closed the door and put your earbuds in. You remembered the receipt that Peter gave you and you opened it. You made a new contact and decided to text Peter.
(Y/n): hey it's (y/n) :)
And you waited for a reply.
Peter: heyoo thanks for texting me I'm bored
Wow that was quick.
