[3] Raspberry Cheesecake

"(Y/n) are you okay? You've been quiet once we left campus." Peter asked noticing your body language. He politely opened the cafe door letting you in first.

"Y-yeah." You took a soft sigh trying to bypass Peter's eyes. You looked up to the menu and your eyes wandered to the cheesecakes.

"I'm gonna get the raspberry cheesecake, we can share if you want." You turned to Peter completely ignoring his question. His eyes were also up on the menu board.

"I'll just get a vanilla latte. I don't wanna eat your food." Peter gave a crooked smile when you two approached the counter.

Once you ordered, you started to reach for your wallet.

"No (y/n), I'll pay." Peter was already pulling out a 20 dollar bill. "Peter no!" You sighed in defeat when the cashier already took the bill out of his hand.

The cashier gave Peter his change and you dropped your wallet back in your backpack.

"Thank you." Peter said to the cashier as you two started to look for a booth. The workers were going to hand the food to your table.

You found an empty booth and once you took a seat, you exclaimed, "You didn't have to do that!" You moved your backpack to the inside of the booth next to you.

"Too late I did." Peter smirked folding his hands on top of the table. "Yeah well next time I'm paying." You stated as a waitress handed you your raspberry cheesecake. There were raspberries on the top with jelly dripping down the sides.

"Thank you!" You looked up at the waitress smiling. She grinned back handing you two forks.

"You sure you don't want any? The piece is huge and I have an extra fork." You held the two utensils one on each hand. Peter look up at you before reaching out for one of your hands. You grinned cheekily has he dug into the cheesecake.

"Holy shit this is good." His eyebrows furrowed once he took a bite. You nodded also taking a piece into your mouth. The waitress came back and handed Peter his coffee. He said 'thank you' as the waitress left.

You two ate the cheesecake in silence, but then Peter decided to say something.

"You still didn't tell me why you suddenly shut down when those guys were calling at us." Peter put down the fork and took a sip of his coffee. You kept your eyes down poking your fork into the cheesecake.

"It's nothing. I'm used to that from my old school." You shrugged slightly before taking another piece.

"You were cat called in your old school?" Peter asked almost shocked. You nodded finally pulling your eyes to look up at him.

'Oh fuck he's staring. Shit ... does he look better than before?'

"It's just that..." You weren't sure if you should tell Peter because you just met him. But then again, you needed something off your chest.

"Okay pinky promise you keep this to yourself and only yourself." You took out your hand and held out your pinky finger. Peter hesitated for a second but when you quirked your eyebrow, he took out his pinky and interlocked it with yours. Then you both took your hands back.

"That guy that was saying those things when we came out the doors..." your eyes traveled to Peter's interested eyes, "...his name is Mikey and he was my ex when I went to my old school."

Peter was silent, he only listened. You took your hand and put it to your forehead remembering the memories you had with Mikey.

"I forgot he went to Midtown when I transferred because he was there when I was in my old school. We met when our football teams were competing for Homecoming." You started to close your eyes, still in disbelief that you were telling this kind of story to someone you just met.

"And now that I remember he's here, he's probably gonna try to take me back... which makes no fucking sense." You took back your fork and broke off another piece of cheesecake.

Peter looked down at the table with a sense of worry in his posture. He leaned forward taking in a breath. You put your fork down letting your arm rest on the table.

"I'm sorry, (y/n)." Peter reached out for your stretched out hand and took it in his. Your heart started racing so fast, but you tried to keep cool. The only thing you did was shuffle a bit in your seat. "I'll make sure he doesn't bother you." He rubbed his thumb on the back of your hand and you nodded, hopefully trying to hide the fact that you're lowkey freaking out.

"Thank you, Peter." You grinned shyly. "Thank you for everything actually. Without you, I don't think I would've survived at Midtown. And now we have to do that chem project and you paid for me when you really didn't need to." You giggled taking back your hand from Peter. You smiled at him in a friendly manner as he smiled back.

"No problem. I'm glad I got to meet you. And I will make sure Mikey doesn't get near you. He's a dumbass." He scoffed as you chuckled.

"But I still don't know a lot about you." Peter insisted since the whole idea of you two coming to the cafe was to get to know each other.

For the next 30 minutes, you talked about yourself, your family, your hobbies and interests. Peter did the same. You felt such sympathy for Peter when he told you about his parents and how they left him for unknown reasons. He now lives with his Aunt May, but he reassured you that he's okay.

You listened to Peter talk about himself with your head propped on your two hands that were leaning on top of the table. You watched his eyes wander everywhere as he was thinking about the next thing he was going to say, but your eyes somehow traveled down to look at his lips.
