[24] Walking Home

*Your POV*
[ATTACK/ASSAULT WARNING]

It was already getting dark outside. When you stepped out the complex doors, the cool air hit your bare skin making you shiver a little. You started your way back to your apartment.

It got dark pretty quickly. Most people on the streets have gone home and the only thing you find comforting is the light from the inside of coffee shops or department stores.

You know that thing where you feel someone looking at you, even if you haven't looked at them? That's what you feel right now while walking. That creepy feeling left a shiver down your spine as you hurried your steps to your apartment.

Your face felt cold. Probably because of the tears that were still slowly running down your cheeks and the cool breeze hitting your face. Wiping your cheeks, you turned a corner into a street where there were only post lamps lighting the pavement.

Passing an alley, you tried to run by it.

But you felt a hard hand grab your wrist and pull you into the alley.

Another hand grabbed your other wrist, making you look at the figure. You screamed, closing your eyes and starting to hit the hooded person in hope for him or her to let go. It grunted, and it sounded like a guy.

Feeling yourself turn around with the push of a gloved hand, you felt your back touch the man's chest. Your heart was beating so fast you needed to do something. Kick, scream, hit, anything...

An arm was tightly holding you at the waist against the man along with your arms under his sleeved arm. You tried to pry yourself off the offender. You screamed, hoping someone would hear you. You tried to bring your elbow that was closest to the hand around you, since it was more free, and bring it up to the person's jaw. It was too dark to even aim correctly, but your hand did end up hitting a face.

The arm around you let you go and you made a run for it, but of course you wore your 4 inch heels and were too slow.

Another hand came to your back and pushed you to the brick wall in front of you. You felt your cheek get scratched and salty tears start to run past it, stinging it slightly.

The man behind you held you firm against the wall. Your heart was practically crying for relief. Your started to cry out hysterically.

Then the worst happened.

You felt a hand grab the bottom of your dress. It was lifted up and you closed your eyes tightly. Your fists tightened and you forced your legs closed.

'Please no... dear god someone save me.'

You felt a glove hand touch your thigh and you whimpered at the contact.

"You're going to be a good girl for–oomph!!"

You felt the body weight disappear behind you. You dared not to turn around to see what happened; you didn't even want to open your eyes, but you heard the sound of something like webs being shot. You knew that sound.

You heard grunts and slams on metal, which was probably a dump on the side; you heard punches and kicks. Everything was happening so fast you couldn't hear who was punching who.

And then there was quiet. It was just panting and darkness (since you still chose to not look).

"Miss.."

You turn around from the brick wall, tears begging to rip through your eyelids. With your blurry vision in the very dim light of the night, you made out red and blue. Blinking, you let tears fall making your eyesight a bit clearer.

Open arms were extended to you and you slowly inched your way to your hero. Your knees were giving out and the balls of your feet were starting to hurt. You ended up literally falling in Spider Man's arms. Then you cried. You cried on his chest as he held you. You let those aching sobs break through, his chest muffling your mouth.

Everything was crashing down on you.

You then lifted your eyes to the inside of the alley. From the light, you saw the hooded man passed out with webs tied around him, but he didn't have his hood on.

Mikey...?

"Don't look." A soft voice above you said. You looked up to find Spider Man looking down at you, a hand opposite your scratched cheek. You turned your head to the other direction, sobs still coming through. You clung onto the suited hero as you tried to stand up properly.

"Let me take you home."

*Peter's POV*

'This can't be fucking happening. My baby living this nightmare?? Especially when she finally saw who she was attacked by... disgusting.'

"Let me take you home." My voice cracked a little. I, too, wanted to cry. Cry tears of anger. But I held them in. I looked at (y/n) through my mask. She had scratches on her right cheek, as if it was a road burn. I wanted to touch her face, but I held back, thinking it might be a little weird because I'm not Peter right now.

(Y/n) nodded microscopically while wiping her face, her right hand gently avoiding the scratches. She didn't even move that much, but I felt the grip of her arm tighten around my neck. I shot out a web and swiftly began swinging to her apartment.

*time skip*

I dropped down to (y/n)'s front door. She stopped crying, but now she had the hiccups. I was holding her bridal style as I walked up the steps to her door.

(Y/n) knew that since I was holding her, she took the opportunity and knocked on the door.

The door opened to a very terrified Mrs. (l/n).

"Oh my..." She gasped with a hand to her mouth. I saw how (y/n) kept eye contact with her mom as I let her down from my arms. I stood beside her once she descended.

"W-what happened?!" Mrs. (l/n) began to freak out. She pulled (y/n) inside and put a comforting arm around her shoulder. (Y/n) kept her eyes down. Mrs. (l/n) was distraught at the tiniest drop of blood bleeding from her cheek.

I can't even imagine the horror she has in her right now. The fact that she can't even bring herself to be the brave woman I knew and look up breaks my heart.

"S-she was attacked, ma'am." I replied as coherent as possible. I almost broke down by just those words alone. Mrs. (l/n) was so shocked she looked like she was going to fall down.

"Not that!" I remind putting out a hand. Mrs. (l/n)'s face eases a little. I look over at (y/n). She was taking off her heels becoming short again. Once she stood up, her head was even bowed lower than before.

"Well, thank you, Spider Man. For taking my baby home and keeping her safe." Mrs. (l/n) said patting (y/n)'s back. With that, (y/n) removed herself from her mother's arm and very slowly made her way upstairs.

I nodded at the compliment. Mrs. (l/n) then took the door and slowly closed it.

Once it was shut, I shot a web and brought myself up to a building. I made my way to an isolated place.

I wanted to scream.

I found myself on top of a high building in Queens where no cars were really passing by. It wasn't a busy area so I just let myself go.

Taking off my mask, I screamed into the sky. I let out all the anger in me.

I was angry at Mikey.
I was angry at my secret.
I was angry at myself.

My screams turned into cries and I fell on my knees in the middle of the rooftop of the building. I put my head down letting the tears fall through.

'It's all my fault. It's all my fault. It's all my fault. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, (y/n).'

Panting, I move my head up to look at the sky. For once, since there weren't many lights, I saw the faint dots of the stars in the black sky.

This was an intense chapter O_O

Obviously I tried to make things seem dramatic for the entertainment of this book; hopefully you guys were shook :]

But yes I put a trigger warning just incase.

If any of you guys were assaulted (god forbid!) I just want you to know that everything it going to be okay and there's nothing wrong with asking for help :) (just putting that out there because I wrote this chapter and I don't want to trigger anyone :/)
