[22] Reservations and Complications

*Peter's POV*

I picked at my food with my spoon not really in the mood to eat. Aunt May noticed when I haven't said anything since her friend came over and my food was still in it's place.

"Peter? Are you sure you're okay?" I hear Aunt May, her question tying to the one when I got home. I nodded sitting up in my chair. "I'm fine." I shrugged it off with a sheepish grin. I looked over at Aunt May's friend, Beatrice.

"So Peter, I heard you got to go to Germany for the Stark internship." Beatrice's eyes light up. I put up a rather fake smile. "Yeah! It was great." I replied actually finding the strength to put a spoonful of chicken and rice in my mouth. I broke eye contact looking down at my food again. I wanted to spit out the the food, not wanting to swallow.

"Mr. Stark told me he did great in Germany!" Aunt May continued, realizing I wasn't really in the mood to talk. I let their conversation drone on as more thoughts flooded my mind.

'And the fact that I left her in the park that night because I had to stop Blind– Mikey... If only I knew he was going for her I would've prevented her small amount of terror she still holds.'

I felt my heart tighten, as if I were to crush it in my hand, with the thought in my head. Everything is messing up my mind already. I need to close my eyes. I need to be alone.

"Excuse me." I said sharply, sitting up from the chair, pushing it backwards earning a screeching sound from the floor boards. I pushed the chair slightly back under the table, leaving Aunt May and Beatrice alone under the dim lighting of the dining room.

Jogging to my room, I swiftly opened the door and closed it a little too loudly for my liking. But I ignored that feeling and just laid on my bed. I stared at the ceiling, my heart racing with everything I'm thinking about.

'I can't let (y/n) know I'm Spider Man. But I don't want to live a double life!! But I must protect her. But I'll be causing so much conflict in our relationship.'

I put my hands to my eyes, pressing down to hopefully erase this stress I'm feeling. "Ugghh why is this so hard?!" I let out an agonizing groan. I sucked in a breath, putting my hands down, but one of them on my chest. I felt my heartbeat. Why is it beating so fast? Then again, why am I overthinking this??

I ran my hand that was on my side along my hair, tugging at it occasionally to make sure I'm not dreaming this confusing nightmare. I gulped, feeling the dryness of my throat. Wow, I'm so out of it I didn't even drink water since lunch.

Hearing the car honks and rubber tires skid on the paved roads outside, I felt a tiredness consuming me. I blinked a couple times to maybe wash away the feeling, but my eyelids grew heavy.

*Your POV*

"Reservation for Peter Parker?" You answered the lady standing behind the podium. She read over the list and smiled finding the name.

"Looks like you're the first one! Follow me." She said politely, grabbing two menu boards and leading you to a small table against the wall. There were booths, but it was just you and Peter tonight.

"Here you go, miss." The lady gestured to the table. I grinned thanking her. "Your waiter will be right with you!" And with that, she went back to her position at the doors.

You got settled in, putting your phone next to the wall and picking up a menu board. You read over the options, reading the details under the names that interested you.

"Good evening, miss." You hear someone come behind you. You look up to find a waiter kindly grinning at you with a pen in hand. "Hello." You reply shortly to not seem rude.

"May I start you off with a drink?" He asks tilting his head. You didn't need to think about your answer. "Water would be fine, thank you." The waiter nodded going back to where he came from.

You picked up the menu again, but you didn't realize 2 minutes flew by when the waiter came back with a cold glass of water with a straw and a lemon hanging on the rim.

"Are you alone, ma'am?" The waiter asks putting down the water in front of you. You shook your head. "No there's someone else. Maybe give it 5 more minutes?" You looked up at the waiter with a soft smile. He nodded before leaving again.

Once he left, you checked your phone. 6:53 pm. You were early so you just waited patiently for Peter. You were reading over the menu board again still undecided.

While reading, you heard two people start giggling. You looked up and saw a couple. The guy's arm was bent so the girl's hand rested on it. They were a few feet diagonal from you so they didn't see you looking.

You smiled at them. You saw how the guy pulled the chair out for the girl and how they smiled at each other. You saw how they talked as they picked up their menus. You saw the girl laugh, her hand covering her mouth because of what the guy said. You saw them stare at each other for a moment, just enjoying their night.

And then you looked away while biting the inside of your cheek. Secretly you wanted to be like that with Peter, but of course not every relationship is cliché and that was fine. But you would be thinking sometimes that maybe you and Peter could step the game up a little.

Reverting your eyes back to the empty chair in front of you, your face formed into suspicion. It was almost 7:00 and Peter still didn't come through the doors, or even text you to update you. You gave it some time, though. You had hope.

Plus, Peter promised. Right?

Okaayyy yeah this was fluff *tom holland's sarcastic voice* whoopsss!

But next chapter is definitely gonna be the dramatic one. I'll try to make it emotional hehehe

Also side note (that probably isn't even important) but in real life, Minado is a buffet restaurant, but I made the one in the story a sit down ¯\_()_/¯

Yeah that was random
