[21] Red Dress
*Your POV*
"So the place is called Minado; it's on 30th. I hope you like sushi and Chinese food." Peter said as we made it out the school doors. I walked next to him listening.
"I love either." I giggled taking my hand and interlocking my fingers with his. Then, Peter didn't say anything else. Before I could catch his attention, I turned to the brunette.
Peter was looking at the ground as if he was watching his next step, to make sure he didn't trip. His lips were curled between his teeth like he was thinking.
I didn't say anything about it, though. Maybe he was thinking about how this date was suppose to make up for all the other times he had the internship come in the way. Or maybe he's thinking about if he'll mess up something. Whatever it was, I kept my mouth shut.
"So, you said this was a fancy place?" I asked looking around the street we were walking on. "Yeah. Dress your best, but I guess you won't have a problem with that." I heard the smirk in his voice.
'This kid just said that..'
I scoffed at Peter's compliment. He only turned the smirk into a smile and quickly kissed the top of my head. "I'm serious. You look beautiful in every outfit you wear."
"Awh, babe stop." You shook your head with a nervous laugh. At this time, you and Peter made it to your apartment. "I'll see you later then?" Peter nodded. You left a kiss on his soft lips with a smile before walking up your steps into your apartment.
*Peter's POV*
Watching (y/n) go into her apartment, the same question kept swirling into my head: Should I tell her?
Once (y/n) closed the door, I started my way to my apartment. Shoving my hands into my pockets, I watched as people passed by me on the sidewalk, bumping into each other's shoulders and talking on the phone. Typical New York vibe.
'If I were to tell (y/n), how should I do it? 'Hey, I'm Spider Man! Hey, I'm the hero you like!'
I sighed realizing how hard this actually was. Would (y/n) be mad at me, though? Keeping this secret from her? But she would understand, right? What if she doesn't want to be with me anymore because she knows the danger I put myself in to? What if she gets hurt because of me?!
"Aye watch it!" I hear a very thick New Yorker accent run behind me. I felt a slight pain in my shoulder, putting together that I just bumped into a bigger guy than me that was clearly stressed out with someone he was talking to on the phone. I didn't say sorry, not that I didn't want to, but because the guy was too far away and he turned back around before I could give out the apology.
Taking a slight turn, I opened the door to the apartment building and stepped in. I went to the elevator and pressed the number of my floor.
'What will Mr. Stark think if I told him I confessed? Would he second guess his decision about me becoming an avenger? Would he think that because I have a girlfriend, I'm just gonna be thinking about her most of the time?'
The elevator doors slid open and I stepped out and walked to my door without even looking at the plated number next to it. Taking out my keys, I unlocked it. I walked in, finding Aunt May stirring something in a frying pan.
"Hey, sweetie!!" She greeted happily turning her head to me. "Hey, May." I simply waved back before taking off my backpack and dropping it off at the part of the counter that was closest to me.
"You okay?" She asked, her voice quieting down. I looked up at her with eyebrows raised and nodded reassuringly. "Yeah." I replied shortly before making my way to my room.
"Alright," She showed a small smile. "Dinner is in 20 minutes! I'm making Tso Chicken!" Aunt May's voice got louder with each step I took getting farther away from her. I listened to what she said, but I didn't process it.
I got into my room and just threw myself on the bed. I mushed my face into my head pillow and just started thinking again.
'I want to tell (y/n) because I love her. But I don't want to tell her because I don't want to lose her. I want to become an avenger. But I don't want Mr. Stark to think of me differently because I let one person know who I really am.'
I flipped in my bed, lying down on my back since the pillow was getting hot in my face.
'If I don't tell the girl I love, she won't understand why things are like what they are. But if I do, maybe she'll be supportive of me? But then again there's a chance she could get angry because I've kept this one secret from her when she knows almost everything about me. I can't risk this relationship with (y/n). We've come so far and I don't want to be a fuck up!'
"Peter!!" I hear Aunt May's voice. I sit up in my bed a little too quickly, the weird colors blinding my vision. "Come help set up the table!" She says. I get up after I could see and make my way down stairs.
"Here you go, sweetie." Aunt May hands me three plates. I look at her questioningly since it's usually only me and her. "Oh! I forgot!" Aunt May gives me the 'oh-I-forgot-to-pay-the-bill' look. "I'm having an old friend over for dinner." She explains. I nod not saying anything to rebuttal, but start putting down the plates on the mats anyways.
Once done, I grab a couple spoons and forks and set those on the table as well. Aunt May comes in with a big bowl of tso chicken and another bowl of rice. The smell of the chicken made its way to my nose and it did smell really good.
But I didn't feel like eating. The thinking filled me up already.
*Your POV*
You started getting ready. You were searching for your red body contour dress that has a zipper going all the way down the front. You were throwing clothes and hangers on your bed in desperate need for that dress. You had an outfit idea and you were going to wear it tonight.
As you were tossing clothing around, your mom passed by your room when she finished with her business in the bathroom. She took a double take.
"What are you doing?" Your mom asked looking inside your room with slight horror at the mess. Without looking at her, you answered, "Looking for a dress."
You saw your mom raise an eyebrow in your peripheral vision. "Peter is taking me out to dinner later!" You replied excitedly throwing a sweatshirt behind you. Your mom's mouth opened a little like she got the idea.
"Okay, but I want you home by 11:00, you hear me?" The stern and protective side of your mom came out. You stopped your searching and faced her. "Don't worry, I will be home, mom." You said with an innocent grin. She pointed at you again before making her way back into her bedroom. "And clean your room!!"
Turning back into your closet, your eyes set on red fabric. You gasped, grabbing what you saw and pulling the piece out between hanging clothes.
"Got cha!" You exclaimed proudly looking at the dress. To your surprise, it wasn't wrinkled from the closet.
Pushing your other clothes to one side of the bed, you put your dress perfectly flat on the open space checking for stains or rips. Gladly, there weren't any.
You checked the time, 5:00 pm.
'Oh, so I have time. Nice!'
You decided to get into the shower and wash up. Combing through your tangled mess of a bird's nest hair, you took a towel and got into the bathroom.
*time skip*
You straightened your hair already and it was only 5:44 pm. You planned to finish getting ready by 6:30 pm, so you went full on dress-up mode. You put on your 'Good Vibes' playlist starting off with Congratulations by Post Malone. You began singing along, getting most of the lyrics right. You started with your makeup.
*small time skip*
Done! And it was only ... 6:36 pm! Okay not bad, actually. You looked in the mirror. You wore your red dress and black heels. Your makeup was not that heavy, but it wasn't your usual school makeup look either. You added a styled choker to your neck to complete the outfit. You smiled in the mirror before taking a quick mirror selfie because, hey, you look fucking great!!
You started your way downstairs, carrying only your phone, with of course, the wallet-case on it that had some money in it. Coming to the last step, you saw your parents at the table eating. Your mom probably told your dad about what you were doing. Your dad turned around since his back was facing you while your mom looked over your dad's shoulder.
"Looks good, (y/n)!!" Your mom's facial expression was of impress. "Make sure that dress doesn't go up any higher!" Your dad exclaimed with a slight teasing tone. "Dad!!" You called reaching from behind and pulling down the body contour dress a little. "Have fun!!" Your mom waved as she saw you making your way to the door.
You waved back taking your house keys and attaching it to the clip attached on the phone case. You opened the door and stepped out.
You felt the air hit your arms and legs, but it was a warm breeze so it was comfortable. You started making your way down to 30th street to the restaurant.
On the sidewalk, you felt as if someone was eyeing you down. Not that you blamed them; you were in a skin tight dress walking down a few blocks, but it did slightly feel uncomfortable. But then again, there were so many people on the streets that if something were to happen, it wouldn't last very long. Slightly shaking your head at the thought, your body went into 'watch-everybody's-movement-and-observe' and you kept looking around every couple minutes.
