[18] Under The White Mask

*Peter's POV*

Two days later, I was casually walking around, passing by the park (y/n) and I were in last time. I didn't look at the playground, knowing what had happened. I just continued going forward, picking up speed just to get to the other block.

"Where's Spider Man?!!" A voice called out. My heart stopped as I looked up and saw Blind Light standing at an intersection the next block over. There were sirens booming and cars honking. He stood in the middle of the intersection as police cars were coming through. "I want Spider Man!!" He boomed angrily.

I thought about it. Should I go?

Yeah.

I ran into the nearest alley and quickly took off my clothes because I had my suit under. Always gotta be prepared, you know?

I took out my arm and webbed a building, making my way to the scene.

Some people looked up and it caused more and more people to do the same. Blind also found me as I jumped in front of him.

"You have summoned me!" I teased using the old courtesy bow which made someone of the crowd laugh. "Thank God." Blind took me by the legs and lifted me up. I was just hanging upside down.

"Hey hey hey!!!" I call out as we got higher. I then feel Blind's hand let go of me as I plummeted to wherever I was going to hit. I looked around as fast as I could so I can see if I can catch myself on something.

I found a bridge and I just shot my web at it.

We were over water.

I climbed my way up the web to get on the bridge. By the time, Blind blasted a side of the bridge. This let out people of their cars screaming and running the opposite direction. I jumped my way on top of a car.

"Spider Man!! You halt me from my plans!! You must die!!" Blind screamed from a distance. I zoomed in with the feature on my suit and then I heard Karen.

"Would you like instant kill mode?"

I panted feeling my heart race. "No.. no not yet." I then started to parkour on top of the cars to get to Blind. He shot a blast but I jumped and dodged it.

'Always pay attention... don't let your guard down.'

Remembering Natasha's words, I watched as Blind threw himself at me. I shot up a web at one of the big staffs on top of the bridge and brought myself over Blind, kicking him on the shoulder to get him off balance in the process.

He crashed into empty cars, pushing two off the bridge. I heard him scream as he got up again. I jumped down to the cars again approaching him at full speed. My legs were jumping over cars and my hands were pushing me off some.

I jumped on top of Blind and got on top of him. I gave a couple punches to his face catching him off guard. I also managed to rip his face mask down the cheek. But what I didn't know was that he was flexible and he took his leg and kicked me in the back of my head. I fell forward, giving the villain an opportunity to grab my head and throw me behind him. I felt my body hit the pavement.

Blind got up running to me and he took his hand, grabbing me by the neck. I felt his fingers crush my throat.

"This will be the last time you get in my way." He said menacingly pulling back a hand with a fist. I gasped with whatever I could take in, getting ready for impact.

But I didn't feel anything?

All I felt was my throat open for air and my legs hit the ground. Panting harshly, I see Blind against a car, majorly denting the side. I think his mask came off since I saw hair flowing to the wind. And then, I hear rockets come down next to me. Ironman.

Turning back to Blind, he got up with his ripped mask in his hand. He eyes met me and I felt my heart stop.

That was Mikey.

In the next second, Ironman used his blaster and hit the car Mikey was in front of, but he moved just in time he could get the impact. Then, Mikey put on his poor conditioned mask and flew away on his jet packs.

I stood staring at the direction he left in, my body complete shock. My body couldn't move, my heart probably died at this point.

"Peter." I hear Mr. Stark's voice. I didn't move at all. "Peter..' He repeated. I heard him, I didn't react. But then I feel the metal of the suit hit my shoulder.

"Peter go up that building." Mr. Stark commanded. Without saying a word, I shot out a web and made my way up. Mr. Stark followed with his rockets on his feet and hands.

I stood still once I got on the building, looking down trying to process what just happened.

"What did I tell you about fighting him!?!" I hear Mr. Stark's voice. It cuts me from my trance. "H-he called for me so I–"

"You went to him!" He finished my statement. I pulled off my mask showing my very concerned and stiff face. I felt strands of my hair fall down my forehead.

"Mr. Stark–" "I thought I told you not to worry about him." He interrupted as the helmet of his suit retracted. "I know, but–" "You go and try to fight him anyways!"

I didn't say anything else knowing I was just going to get interrupted again. I only looked off to the side gripping onto my mask. This time, Mr. Stark didn't say anything else.

"I know him." I mutter.

"Do you know what kind of damage you've done on that bridge??" I hear the harsh interrogation in his tone.

"I know him." I repeat a little louder.

"You're lucky no one got hurt! Everyone ran off before you could do any more harm!"

"I know him!" I finally shout. I look up at Mr. Stark, my eyes wide. I step back.

"Who is he then?" He asked crossing his arms. I backed down my aggressive manner.

"He goes to my school." Was all I said as Mr. Stark sighed. "Great. Just great!"

"He doesn't know I'm Spider Man, though!" I shot back. Mr. Stark only looked at me like 'do-you-know-what-you're-getting-into?'

"He better not."

I put my head down in shame. I then turned back to the bridge seeing red, white, and blue lights. Ambulances were checking the cars as police were armed for any surprise.

"Peter," Mr. Stark's voice not as harsh. "Does this also have to do something with that girl?"

I rose my head up a little. I remembered (y/n), her horrified face when she was sitting next to the edge of the building during that fight.

"I have to go, Mr. Stark. I'm sorry." I said quickly ignoring his question. I put my mask back on before turning around and running the other way. I jumped off the building, webbing another to make my way to (y/n).

I turned the street onto the familiar street I've known for a while. I got closer to (y/n)'s apartment and to my luck, (y/n) was on the balcony. To my concern, her head was in her arms on the table that was set on the balcony for decoration or leisure time. There was also paper under her.

I quietly propped myself like a bird on the railing in front of her.

"Hello." My voice speaks up. (Y/n)'s head shoots up, her face painted with fright.

I put my hand in front of me. "It's okay!"

(Y/n) sits up awkwardly, her hands falling to her lap. The paper in front of her was math homework.

'Shit I forgot about that.'

"How are you?" I begin. I look at (y/n), her face bare of makeup and her eyes tired.

"Okay." She said bluntly. She was almost mirroring Michelle's personality. I grunted a little as I made myself sit properly on top of the railing.

"You don't sound 'okay'." I mentioned mimicking her sitting pose. (Y/n) only shrugged looking down at the table eyeing the geometry homework.

"Why are you here, anyways?" She spat back. Obviously (y/n) was tired, but I saw how fast she was to respond.

"Just checking up on you." I shrugged moving my hands a little. She rolled her eyes with a smirk. "You're one of many." She sighed leaning forward propping her chin on her hand that was on the table held up by her arm.

"What's wrong?" I then asked, encouraging her to speak. (Y/n) breathed deeply through her nose.

"Someone in my life is frustrating me a little." She said breaking eye contact. I looked down a little having a strong sense that she was talking about me.

"I'm sorry about that." I replied quietly. "It's not your fault." She brushed off.

'It kinda is...'

"Who's frustrating you?" I asked clearing my throat. (Y/n) looked at me questioningly for a moment.

"My boyfriend." She sniffled as she sat back in the chair. I didn't even ask 'why', but (y/n) continued. "He keeps leaving me to go to an internship he has, like I know it's important to him and all and I fully support it, but a couple days ago he wanted to make up for all those times. And to my luck he didn't make it, so he sent his friends to be with me."

I felt my heart sink. I did do that. I felt the guilt creep its way to my stomach. I just swung my legs back and forth to hide my sulky emotion.

"Wow that must suck. He sounds like a douche." I chuckled a little as I saw (y/n) pull a small smile. "I wouldn't say he's a douche, but I wouldn't say he's been a good boyfriend either."

I nodded, feeling myself almost bring my body to tell (y/n) it's really me, her boyfriend, Peter. But I held back; this isn't the right time.

"But it's okay. I'll talk to him about it when I can. I just need to do my homework." (Y/n) laughed softly looking down at the paper.

"I'll let you get to that." I said in a lighter tone turning my body so my legs were hanging off the balcony.

"Hey, Spider Man?" I hear (y/n)'s angelic voice. I turned my head to her. "I know this might be super weird, but you sound so familiar."

My. Heart. Stop. I. Stopped. Breathing.

"D-do I know you?" She said more shyly. I shook my head turning back to face the street.

"I don't think so. I hope not. Not yet." I said the last two parts to myself as I webbed a building and began swinging my way away from (y/n).

I made sure I didn't look back.

— ♡ —

The scene with Tony kinda came from Spider-Man: Homecoming when Tony confronts Peter about the Ferry incident so there's that

And the last part was kind of suppose to be like all quiet and calm and peaceful so there's that change in mood.

This was also a long chapter so if you see typos, please point them out, thank you!!
