ANGEL!JENO/DEVIL!JAEMIN AU
SHIP : NOMIN

jaemin is one mischievous son of satan that happens to set his eyes on a certain angel on a mission.

"but father, the otherworld is so boring! i've been there way too many times to be entertained at this point." the young devil complained, swinging his legs off of his throne.

"i don't care jaemin. it's either you go up there or you will step down from your position." the creature's deep red eyes glared straight at the devil who was pouting like a mortal child.

knowing that stepping down from his position meant he couldn't order anyone around anymore, he gave a good eye roll before agreeing to his father's terms. it's always been like this; his father ordering him to create some trouble in the otherworld for his own entertainment. but what else could he expect from satan himself?

jaemin has been to the otherworld almost way too many times, and it was pretty much the same thing over and over again. cause a little trouble there, cause a little trouble here, have a good laugh, then return to hell. the devil would die to have something to take interest in.

lazily hopping off his throne, he let his father send him off into the otherworld, where he appeared back in his apartment. he was sent here so many times, he had decided to just buy a small place to stay every time he was sent here. that saved him the trouble in going to hotels all the time.

whilst walking to him room, he stopped in front of his full length mirror and took a look at himself. aside from the small horns sticking out of his black hair, he looked completely human. perfect for blending in with the civilization if he'd say so himself. just imagine him walking around looking like some creature out of a failed science experiment; now wouldn't that be a sight?

hearing a rumble coming from his stomach reminded him that he, if fact, needed to eat. even though devils barely even eat, and can go weeks without eating, there are still those times.

"some food won't hurt." grabbing a beret from the coat hanger near his door, he placed it on his head to conceal his horns. see, it wasn't like he couldn't rid of his horns for a while. he could, it just too much energy from him along with the human glamour as well? yeah, no. so he opted to downsize his horns instead.

leaving the apartment complex, he settled for a place he was familiar with. a small hole in the wall restaurant he'd always visit when he's in the otherworld that serves the absolute best peach cake. his mouth is already watering at the thought of the sweet confectionary.

"nana! welcome back! how was london?" mark, the son of the owner, asked, dropping what he was doing to hug the male.

"it was great! the people there are so nice too." jaemin hugged mark back, patting the male's back.

mark pulled back from the hug and dragged him to his usual table, "sit. i'll ring up the usual."

after the male left, jaemin leaned back in his chair and breathed in the amicable air of the restaurant. though he was made to cause dysphoria in the human word, he didn't mind having humans like mark around. he would even consider him a friend.

though, the secret of him being a creature of hell had to be kept quiet. every time he'd go back to hell, he'll just say he's going abroad to some faraway place. it was an easy lie to procure, so he went along with it. and if they ever needed proof, he just had to poof himself to said place and take a quick pic; easy as pie if you ask him.

while waiting, another customer entered the restaurant, well, two more. both were males seemingly jaemin's visual age, which was about late teens to early twenties. one was shorter, foreign looking while the other...really caught jaemin's attention.

though faint, a light aura surrounded him while a sheer golden halo sat floating atop his head.

and that's when the corners of jaemin's mouth began to curl up in mischief. guess this visit won't be that mundane anyways.

a sheer rarity seeing an angel out in the flesh like this. jaemin's heard tales of how many angels his father had captured and killed. apparently they have some power that helps lengthen the lives of devils, and his father uses that to reward the devils who are insanely loyal to him. he didn't need it so much as he was already living for an eternity, but it did provide him a great amount of entertainment seeing angels die by his hand.

jaemin had followed the two around for pretty much the whole day, staying concealed of course. it wasn't like he had anything better to do anyways. besides, this can be the most fun he's had in a while now. all he had to do was wait for the perfect opportunity to do so.

it was getting dark and to his luck, it started to rain. running into a more secluded place, he materialized an umbrella from thin air then proceeded to go on his jolly way with the umbrella sheltering him. rain had always bothered him and had always caught him off guard, leaving him sopping and immensely pissed off. yes, his magic can always keep him dry but again, that shit's draining. just materializing the umbrella left him a tad more fatigued than usual.

lucky for him, he saw that poor angel covering his head with his jacket as he waited at the bus stop. that was enough to rid of his hate of the rain for a while and slapped on his best smile. jaemin walked towards the male and placed part of the umbrella over him.

jeno, noticing the sudden stop of raindrops pelting off of him, he looked up and saw the umbrella then trailed his eyes to the owner of it.

"i saw you just standing there and i couldn't just not help out." to jeno, it was like jaemin's voice was a comforting tune that lulled one to sleep. hypnotizing, almost.

"t-thank you..."

"jaemin. na jaemin. what's your name, angel?" a stroke of panic when the latter uttered the word 'angel', but calmed down as he remembered that his angelic features were disguised to the human eye.

"lee jeno."

"well it's an absolute pleasure to meet you, jeno." jaemin's eyes flashed a dark red but jeno thought he was just seeing things as he shook jaemin's held out hand innocently.

that was the moment fate decided to let the devil and angel create a bond like no other, but they didn't have to know that yet.

"say, i haven't seen you around here before. are you new in town?" jaemin asked casually, deciding some ice breaker questions could fill the quiet air surrounding them.

"yeah actually. i moved here with a friend of mine to attend the performing arts of seoul university."

jaemin feigned a surprised gasp, "really? i used to attend there before i dropped out."

jeno wrinkled his forehead and faced the latter with a questioning look, "why did you drop out?"

"well, i guess it just wasn't for me. after dropping out, i just decided to travel around and y'know, 'find myself'. so far, i've gone to quite a few places and i just got back from london."

"wow, it must be really nice going to all those places huh? my dream is to one day visit rome, just to really experience the history of the place and people." jeno shared, a dreamy smile on his lips. "not to mention the food. i heard it's delicious." he added excitedly.

"rome is a beautiful place. not only from its ancient structures but to its rich history as well. i'm sure you'll enjoy it." jaemin supplies, acting as if he didn't see jeno shamelessly staring at him from the corner of his eyes. he saw the bus coming towards them and decided he'll meet jeno another day.

with jeno's unnaturally strong aura, it shouldn't be that hard to find out where he is.

"here." jaemin held out his umbrella and jeno took it with hesitance and confusion.

"why are you giving this to me?"

"for the rest of your way home. i like walking in the rain so you don't need to worry about me. see you, angel." he lied with a quick wink that totally made jeno cheeks heat up. he walked off with his hands stuffed into the pockets of his jacket, figure slowly getting farther and farther away.

jeno was too busy being frozen with shock to even chase after said stranger and force him to take back his umbrella. when he did break out of his daze the bus was already in front of him, doors open and waiting for him to come aboard. climbing on and finding a vacant seat among the many civilians on board, he silently vowed to find the nice male again and repay him for his generosity.

little did the innocent angel know, he was playing right into the devil's hands. quite literally too.
