i asked michael on a date and luckily he agreed. the only problem was that i had no idea where the hell i could take him.
so, naturally, i texted the only other friend i had.

content in knowing where i would be taking michael, i packed a super lame picnic since i thought michael would like it. after i texted michael that i was picking him up soon, i got ready quickly and headed over to his house.

michael always looked breathtaking, but for our first date i swear he was trying to kill me. the way his legs looked in black skinny jeans, and his collarbones peeking out from underneath his pale pink sweater complimented his hair and i felt my heart pound in my chest.

"hi," i breathed, self-conscious because michael would out shine my appearance any day. "hi, luke. ready to go?" i nodded and smiled, guiding the pink-haired boy to my car.

when we arrived at my home away from home, or rather, a forest behind my house.

"what are we doing here?" michael inquired, looking at me in confusion. "i come here a lot and i thought i'd show you. come on, it's not too far away." i got out of the car and rushed around to open michael's door for him. "such a gentleman, lucas. your mother would be proud." i rolled my eyes at my pink boy's dorkiness but grabbed his hand and led him into the trees.

after a short walk through the woods we arrived at a small clearing that i had found fascinating when i first stumbled upon it three years prior. the circular patch didn't have the same decomposing leaf ground as the rest of the forest; instead it was a circle of bark laid on the forest floor. i had previously put a blanket and the picnic i'd made there in hopes that it would look romantic or even at least cute.

looking toward michael, i was pleased with the wide grin painting his delicate features as he squeezed my hand lightly in surprise. "holy shit, luke. you didnt have to do this!" michael exclaimed. "do you hate it?" i whispered, furrowing my brows, suddenly not so sure i had done the right thing. "luke. i love it." i smiled and tugged him to sit with me on the blanket i had placed evenly on the ground.

unwrapping a nutella sandwich i'd made for him, michael looked at me, "how did you find this place anyway, lukey?" i shrugged. "one day i tried to run away from home and i happened to find this one. it's an escape for me. just like you." michael nudged my leg with his and rolled his bright green eyes. "you're such a lame little sap." i smiled, "you know you love it."

"unfortunately i do."
