deciding to buy tickets to a small concert for a local band called home adrift, i made my way to michael's house.

i knocked on the door despite hearing muffled shouting coming from what sounded like michael's room. a few minutes and knocks later, a disheveled mrs. clifford opened the door and quicly smiled in an attempt to hide her distress.

"is everything okay, mrs. clifford?" i asked, my voice laced with genuine concern, especially since michael was nowhere to be seen. "everything's just fine, luke. not to be rude, but, what are you here for?" i chuckled and replied, "i'm here to pick michael up for a concert. is that okay with you?"

mrs. clifford smiled. "sure. i'll go get him. you can come inside if you'd like." after shitting the door behind me, michael's mother rushed up the stairs.

i heard his bedroom door open and mrs. clifford calling quietly to him. i stuffed my hands into my pockets nervously as a slightly disoriented michael descended the stairs followed by his mother.

"hey, michael. you ready to go?" i smiled. the pink haired boy nodded lazily and said goodbye to his mother before opening the door for me and walking out to my car. i rushed after michael and opened the car door for him.

"so what kind of concert are we going to, luke?" i held up the tickets for michael's inspection. "home adrift? i feel like i've heard a few of thier songs. what about you? do you know any songs?" i smiled. "yeah, i know a few."

time skip bc its 2 am and im one lazy bitch

i pulled into the small venue that seemed quite crowded for a local band. i opened michael's door for him and watched as he tensed up when he saw the amount of people around.

"you okay, michael?" i asked, confused as he nodded quickly. "yeah, i'm fine, just a tad surprised that there's so many people here." i nodded and tugged gently on his wrist, covered by a pink sweater. he noticeably winced, much to my dismay because that was never a good sign.

"are you sure you're okay?" i asked again, guiding him through security since he looked kind of shaken up. "yes, luke, i'm positive." i nodded and removed my hand from his thin wrist to his hand, intertwining our fingers together. "is this okay?" he looked up at me and smiled. "yeah,"

after home adrift played a few songs, the crowd got louder and more unruly i noticed michael's aditude worsening.

"hey, luke?" michael said shakily. "yes, michael? are you okay?" michael shook his head, "can we leave please? i don't feel well."

i nodded immediately, quickly grasping his hand and walking back to my car. "sorry for ruining this, luke." michael sighed when i had started driving. "what do you mean? you didn't ruin it, michael." i smiled. "i don't mean to be such a downer, i just have trouble with people all around, you know?" i nodded. "yeah, i understand. but i mean it, you didn't ruin it, michael. if anything, i should feel bad that i chose something you didn't like."

"it's okay luke. really. i just didn't want to mess it up." i frowned because being with michael was all i really wanted and i really liked him, so i didn't want him upset. "michael. you didn't ruin anything i swear. i just wanted to spend time with you because, well, i really really like you, michael."

"well i really really like you too, luke." i pulled over to the side of the road. "no, like, i really like you. as more than just a friend." michael's eyes widened in surprise. "i-i like you, too, lukey. but this is dangerous. i'm dangerous and i've told you before, luke."

"i don't care."
