Chapter 18

I'm really sad to say that in the next chapter, it's the Battle of Hogwarts. And we all know what happens there :'( Sorry

---------------------------------------------------

Christmas at the Tonks house was quiet. The festive season wasn't great without Ted. Even Remus missed Ted, thought they only properly met about once. But despite feelings of loss and desperation, they celebrated a little anyway.

"Merry Christmas Tonks. Sorry I never got you anything great. I literally almost have no money." Remus said when they sat down for lunch.

"It's fine Remus. You being here is gift enough." Tonks yawned, still tired.

"Although, I did manage to get you some chocolate." Remus said happily. Smiling when her head snapped up. "If I remember correctly you have a craving for it."

"Yes. Chocolate. Where?" Tonks cried excitedly.

"In my pocket. I'l-"

Before Remus could finish his sentence, Tonks had jumped up as fast as a five month pregnant women could and charged at him. Her hands attacked his pockets, but found no chocolate.

"Remus, where is this said chocolate?" Tonks demanded menacingly.

"I'll go get it-"

"Yay!"

"-once you've finished eating your breakfast."

"Aw." Tonks sighed. "But I don't want it." Tonks whined. She pouted, but then burst out laughing. Remus still hadn't gotten used to her random and dramatic mood swings.

"Tonks, you need to eat." Remus sighed. "Three more big mouthfuls then you get your chocolate."

Tonks grinned before shoveling three mouthfuls. She swallowed with difficulty before smiling. Remus smiled. Taking her hand gently, he guided her up to their room.

"Close your eyes." Remus whispered sweetly. Tonks obeyed. Guiding her with her hands, he led her to their wardrobe. Opening it, he bent down and picked up a pink, chocolate wolf.

"Ok. Open your eyes." Remus said.

Tonks opened her eyes slowly. She gasped when she saw the wolf being held out to her. She took it in her hands, looking it over with delight filled eyes.

"Remus, you shouldn't have." Tonks said happily

"Yes I did. Merry Christmas....again." Remus laughed.

"I got something for you as well." Tonks said. She walked over to her bedside table and opened it. She took out a small black box. Handing to Remus, she smiled, awaiting his reaction.

Remus took it and curiously opened it. Inside was a thin, gold chained necklace. Dangling off the chains was a brown wolf and two separate moons. One moon was Bubblegum Pink, like Tonks's hair, and the other was partly black and partly glowing.

"The silver shines according to the Lunar Cycle. The other switches colour ever hour. It changes to pink, then sandy brown, then back to pink. It represents b-"

Before Tonks could finish talking, Remus had stepped forward and pressed his lips against hers. She kissed him back like it was the last time she was ever going to kiss him. Tonks had to break off the kiss suddenly.

"Are you ok?" Remus asked, worry all over his face.

"He kicked!" Tonks cried. "I felt it, he kicked."

Tonks placed Remus's hands on the bump so he could feel the next one. The baby kicked again half a minute later.

"Did you feel it?" Tonks asked

"Yeah, I did." Remus said, smiling as he felt another kick. Remus removed his hands and kissed Tonks's forehead softly.

"Mum!" Tonks called

"What is it dear." Andromeda replied

"He kick. The baby kicked." Tonks called back.

Tonks and Remus heard footsteps come towards them. The door opened and Andromeda walked in.

"Here, you might feel it again, possibly." Tonks said excitingly, placing her mums hands where Remus's just where.

The gap between the kicks was getting longer, but they felt it again, softer this time.

"That's so cute." Andromeda sighed. "Have you thought of a name?"

"Um. We were thinking either Kyle, Felix or Theodore." Tonks replied.

"Aw. Well, Merry Christmas. I'm just going to go downstairs to have something to eat." Andromeda said before heading out the door.

Remus ran his hand through his hair before hugging Tonks loosely from behind as she sighed.

"She misses him. Dad." Tonks sighed sadly.

"Of course she does, and you." Remus said, "you're family, you love each other dearly."

"Yeah. But at least I've got you." Tonks said.

"And our son." Remus added

"And our son." Tonks agreed. "As long as you're here with me, I know I'll be ok."

Tonks and Remus had soon moved out of her parents house and back into their own. At the end of March, Tonks got the news that her dad Ted had been killed, most likely by Snatchers. Although she smiled and put on a brave face, her hair wasn't as bright as usual and you could see the pain and loss in her eyes. Worst of all, they hadn't heard from Andromeda ever since the news came two weeks ago. It was now the middle April.....

Remus was in the kitchen making their lunch while Tonks sat comfortably on the sofa in the living room. It was the one of the only places she could eat and sit properly. Tonks stood up slowly, with some difficulty, the bump getting in the way too much.

"Can't wait to shove this baby out." She thought bitterly.

Once she was up, she was about to stretch when a sharp pain came from her lower area. It passed quickly, but she suddenly felt very very wet on her legs. She knew exactly what it was.

"Remus," Tonks called, trying to stay calm. "Could you come here for a second please."

Remus came in whistling happily a few seconds later. His tune faltered when he saw Tonks holding onto the sofa for support with a puddle right underneath her.

"Wh-wha-"

"I think my waters just broke." Tonks said, her voice quivering with fear and pain.
