Chapter 15
Reading back I know I've changed some things from the book so other things don't happen. Sorry, and I switch between Tonks and Remus a few times in each chapter so you get to know how they both are doing :)
And so I won't get into trouble, some if this is from the book written by JK Rowling, not me.
-------------------------------------------------------
Remus ran for two days straight. Days filled with danger with every step he took. The night of the fill moon was spent in an isolated forest, far away from everyone, everything. The other nights were worse thought; he was being followed, very closely. But eventually he managed shake them off in a busy crowd of Muggles. How it was so easy he didn't know, but what Remus did know was that his next task wasn't so easy; find Harry.
"He'd most likely be at Grimmauld Place, but possibly not," Remus thought to himself. "Better scavenge some Butterbeer for when I finally find him, he'll need, for my proposal."
Remus sighed heavily before closing his eyes. Taking a big risk, he Dissaparated, back home....

Tonks had barley done anything since Remus left. It was back to how it was about a year ago; she loved him, he denied his feelings, he'd do anything to avoid her, leaving Tonks in a shattered and broken mess in desperate need or love and repair.
Only difference this time, was that he was always with. Her pregnancy was becoming noticeable, and not jut because of vomiting and food craves. Her hair switched colour randomly, like how it used to when she couldn't control her powers.
"Ted, we need to help her." Andromeda sighed, falling roughly into the sofa in the living room.
Tonks was crying again in her bedroom, hardly ever stopped. And when she did, she just sat around, staring, waiting.
"I'll kill that werewolf if I ever see him again." Ted growled
"But in the mean time we need to get out daughter back. I don't think this is healthy for the baby."
"Just can't believe she's pregnant as well, furry bastard" Ted replied. "I should have told her I hated the idea. But instead I encouraged her."
"I know." Andromeda said. "But what can we do?"
"I'll talk to her, tell her how it was when we were young, she'll understand. Plus, I hate the marriage, but I want my baby girl back"
Ted kissed his wife gently before heading to his daughters room. He knocked on the door, but there was no reply. Opening the door he saw that the curtains were shut, keeping out the afternoon sun. Tonks was curled up on her bed, covers pulled around her and she was sniffing every few seconds. Her face was only partly visible.
"Hi Dora." Ted said softly, sitting next to the lump on the bed. "How you doing?"
"Great. Just.....brilliant." Tonks replied coldly.
"Look Dora, Remus'll come back. He'll realize that he loves you and needs you two, his family, then things will only go up from there."
"No he won't. He doesn't love me, and he doesn't care about the baby and, I feel so stupid for believing every loving thing he ever said to me or done." Tonks cried. "It's my fault."
"No it is not. Don't ever say that it is Dora." Ted snapped back before sighing. "Look, I'm going to tell you something ok and I want you to listen closely."
"What?" Tonks sniffed
"You remember how me and your mother met and got together right?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"Because when I found she was pregnant with you and that her family disowned her, I...I did something I should never ever have done." Ted admitted.
Tonks sat up fully now, staring at her dad with an expression of disbelief and curiosity. Her hair was messy, unbrushed and dark brown. Her eyes were also brown, but laced with red from all the tears shed and nights gone by unslept.
"N-no, you c-couldn't have." Tonks stammered.
"I did. And I'll tell you how it happened, and what happened afterwards."

Remus had to go back for a few more food supplies. He was still sore and weak from the Full Moon, but he was better. As evening settled, Remus made sure the coast was clear before he set off into the alley.
"Ok. One shot to get this right." Remus muttered. He knew he had to land exactly on the doorstep of Grimmauld Place, or else he'll be a target again. Closing his eyes, he felt the feeling of being squeezed tightly as his feet left the ground. He landed exactly where he needed to. Remus knocked on the door faintly, too faintly. He opened the door and slowly stepped inside.
"Severus Snape?" Said a voice; Moody's, as the dust figure rushed forward.
"It was not I who killed you Albus." Remus said quietly.
The dust figure exploded in a dense grey cloud.
"Don't move!" another voice cried, Harry. The sound of screaming erupted from Mrs Black's portrait.
"Hold your fire, it's me, Remus." He said as footsteps thundered down the stairs.
"Oh, thank goodness." Hermione sighed, lowering her wand. Ron also lowered his, but Harry did not.
"Show yourself!" Harry called.
Remus held his hands high as a sign of innocence as he stepped forward.
"I am Remus John Lupin, werewolf, sometimes known as Moony, one of the four creators of the Marauder's Map, married to Nymphadora, usually known as Tonks, and I taught you how to produce a Patronus, Harry, which takes the form of a stag."
'Oh, all right. but I had to check, didn't I?" said Harry, lowering his wand.
"Speaking as your ex-Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, I quite agree that you had to check. Ron, Hermione, you shouldn't be so quick to lower your defenses."
Ron and Hermione ran down the stairs towards him.
"No sign of Severus then?" Remus asked
"No," replied Harry. "What's going on? Is everyone ok?"
"Yes. But we're all being watched. There are a couple of Death Eaters in the square outside-"
"-we know-"
"-I had to Apparate very precisely on to the top step outside the front door to be sure that they won't see me. They can't know you're in here or I'm sure they'd have more people out there, they're staking out everywhere that's got a connection to you Harry. Let's go downstairs, there's a lot to tell you and I want to know what happened after you left the Burrow."Once downstairs, Remus took out a few Butterbeers, and the switching of tales began.
Remus was very worried as to how the two Death Eaters found them so quickly after they left, but that was something for another time. When it was Remus's turn to tell, he could see their shocked and terrified faces as he described what they'd missed. Then came the tricky part.
"And are they bothered to give an excuse for torturing Harry's whereabouts out of people?" asked Hermione.
"Well.." Remus said. Hesitating, he pulled out a folded copy of the Daily Prophet that he managed to get. "Here, you'll know sooner or later anyway. That's their pretext for going after you."
'WANTED FOR QUESTIONING ABOUT THE DEATH OF ALBUS DUMBLEDORE'
Ron and Hermione gave roars of outrage, but Harry said nothing and pushed the paper away.
"I'm sorry Harry." Remus sighed
"So Death Eaters have taken over the Daily Prophet too?" Hermione asked furiously.
Remus sighed before explaining how everything was being taken over, and being covered up. Then came another two uncomfortable topics; the torture and murders of the targeted Muggle-borns and Hogwarts, the new Hogwarts. Remus soon realized he was beginning to waste time
"I'll understand if you can't confirm this, Harry, but the Order is under the impression that Dumbledore left you a mission." Remus said
"He did," Harry replied "and Ron and Hermione are in on it and they're coming with me."
"Can you confide in me what the mission is?"
Remus could see Harry wanted to agree, but he was hesitant.
"I can't, Remus, I'm sorry. If Dumbledore didn't tell you, I don't think I can."
"I thought you'd say that. But I might still be of some use to you. You know what I am and what I can do. I could come with you to provide protection. There would be no need to tell me exactly what you were up to."
Looking at Harry's face Remus could see him thinking it over, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw a puzzled looking Hermione.
"But what about Tonks?" Hermione asked
"What about her?" Remus replied not liking where it was going
"Well....you're married! how does she feel about you going away with us?'
"Tonks will be perfectly safe," Remus replied, trying not to sound as cold as he wish he could. "She'll be at her parents' house."
There was a pause.
"Remus," said Hermione started, "is everything all right....you.....between you and -"
"Everything is fine, thank you." Remus snapped.
Hermione turned pink before there was another uncomfortable pause. Remus sighed before saying he wish he didn't have to. "Tonks is going to have a baby."
"How wonderful." Squeaked Hermione
"Congratulations." Said Harry
"Excellent!" said Ron enthusiastically.
Remus forced an unconvincing smile
"So..do you accept my offer? Will three become four? I cannot believe that Dumbledore would have disapproved, he appointed me your DADA teacher after all. And I much tell you that I believe that we are facing magic many of us have never encountered or imagined."
Ron and Hermione looked at Harry.
"Just-just to be clear. You want to leave Tonks at her parents house and come away with us?"
"She'll be perfectly safe there, they'll look after her. " Remus replied "Harry, I'm sure James would have wanted me to stick with you."
"Well," Harry said slowly. "I'm not. I'm pretty sure my father would have wanted to know why you aren't sticking with your own kid, actually."
Remus's face drained of colour and the room suddenly got colder.
"You don't understand." Remus said quickly
"Explain then." Harry said
"I-I made a grave mistake marrying Tonks," Remus said. "I did it against my better judgement and have regretted it very much ever since."
"I see. So you're just going to dump her as the kid and run off with us?"
Remus was outraged he felt his wolf side rise to the surface as he leapt up, chair falling over.
"Don't you understand what I've done to my wife and my unborn child? I should never have married her, I've made her an outcast!"
Remus kicked aside the chair.
"You've only seen me amongst the Order, or under Dumbledore's protection at Hogwarts! You don't know how most of the wizarding world sees creatures like me! When they know of my affliction, they barely talk I me! don't you see what I've done? they don't admit it or show it, but even her own family is disgusted by our marriage, what parents want their only daughter to marry a werewolf? and the child-the child-"
To stop himself punching something, he seized handfuls of his hair, not knowing how deranged he looked.
"My kind don't usually breed! It will be like me, I am convinced of it-how can I forgive myself, when I knowingly risked passing on my own condition to an innocent child? and if, by some miracle, it is not like me, then it will be better off, a hundred times so, without a father I whom it much always be ashamed!"
"Remus. Don't say that. How could any child be ashamed of you?" Hermione whispered, her eyes filled with tears.
Harry felt anger bubbling up inside him, and he couldn't contain it. "Oh, I don't know Hermione. I'd be pretty ashamed of him." Said Harry coldly. "If the regime thinks Muggle-borns are bad, what will they do to a half-werewolf whose fathers in the Order? my dad died trying to protect my mum and me, and you reckon he'd tell you to abandon your kid to go on an adventure with us?"
"How-how dare you?" Remus yelled. "This is not about a desire for-for danger or personal glory-how dare you suggest such a-"
"I think you're feeling a bit daredevil. You fancy stepping into Sirius's shoes." Harry snarled. "I'd never have believed this. The man who taught me to fight Dementors-a coward!"
Harry spat the last word with so much venom, it stung like the real thing. Remus drew his wand so fast, neither of the three had time to get their own. With a loud bang, Remus sent Harry flying into the wall before storming out.
"Remus, Remus, come back!" he heard Hermione call after him. Ignoring her, he yanked the door open before slamming it shut, it rattled the windows. He was breathing heavily, face red with anger he hadn't felt in years.
