Courtney stared at her sister, who had just spilled the biggest secret she had ever had.

"Jess.." Courtney whispered, covering her mouth. 

Jess sobbed and covered her eyes with her hands "I don't understand how this could have happened..." she said. 

"Do you know who the Father is?" Courtney asked, taking her sister's hand and leading her to the couch in the massive dorm room they were in. Jess had the room all to herself, so she took it upon herself to make the large space her living room. With a kitchen included. 

"It has to be Adrian. He's the only guy I've slept with," she said. Courtney noticed how her sister looked away, like she were hiding something. But Courtney let it go and focused on the important news.

"Are you sure you're pregnant?" Courtney asked, Jess flinched at the word.

"I've taken 3 tests, they were all positive. And I'm late," Jess sobbed. 

Suddenly Courtney was stuck with a realization

"The Winter Showcase... You got sick.." she said, swallowing hard. Jess sobbed

"Oh God, that means I'm even further along than I thought!" she cried.

"Jess, don't worry. We will get through this together-"

"Courtney, don't you understand? I have a massive reputation here! I'm a Taint. We're supposed to be perfect. Everyone knows me as Ms. Perfect! I can't be pregnant. It'll ruin everything!" Jess said. Courtney hugged her sister close, and rubbed her back as she cried into her shoulder. 

"You have to tell Adrian, Jess. He deserves to know," Courtney whispered. Jess just continued to sob into her younger sister's arms. 

A few hours later, once Jess had finally calmed down, Courtney found herself back in Bach Hall. She was exhausted as she walked down the hall and knocked on a door. 

The door opened to reveal a sleepy looking Duncan. He clearly had just woken up from a nap.

"Oh, sorry," Courtney blushed "I didn't mean to wake you up," 

Duncan shook his head and rubbed the tired out of his eyes "Nah, you're good. Just catching up on some Z's. Come on in," he said, and moved aside to let her in. 

Duncan and Geoff's room was just what she expected of a college boy's room. Messy. Duncan's half of the room was slightly neater than Geoff's, however. With black blankets covering his bed. A skull pattern was on his sheets. 

"Sorry 'bout the mess." he chuckled. Courtney shrugged it off and sat down on his bed, as he sat in the comfy-looking office chair. 

Different video games were scattered across the hard wood floor, with empty beer cans hidden under their beds. 

Duncan noticed Courtney's far away expression, and cleared his throat

"You okay? Is everything okay with your sister?" he asked, Courtney blinked

"What do you mean? Why wouldn't everything be okay?" she snapped. He held his hands up in defense 

"Damn, sorry to strike a nerve," he said. Courtney's face softened and she looked down

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap. It's just been a stressful day. I don't really wanna talk about it," she said, looking up at him with her big eyes. Duncan bit his lip, and leaned back against the chair. 

His teal eyes slowly trailed down, and landed on one of the video games laying on the floor. A small smirk coming to his mouth

"Why don't we do something to take your mind off of it?" he asked. Courtney raised a brow, looking at him confused as he stood up and grabbed the video game, holding it up

"I don't play video games," she said "I think they're a waste of time,"

He shrugged "Too bad, I would have kicked your ass anyways,"

Courtney's head perked up, and she narrowed her eyes at him "Oh really? You think you can kick my ass?" she asked. Standing up and putting her hands on her hips. Duncan laughed

"I don't think so, I know so," he mused. She marched over to him and grabbed one of the controllers off of his desk

"Then prove it, Macho Man," she teased. 

Duncan laughed and put the video game into the console. He grabbed his own controller and sat down next to her on his bed.

"You're cheating!" Courtney yelled, crossing her arms as Duncan won yet another race in Mario Cart. He laughed and stuck his tongue out at her. 

"You're just pissed cause you're losing!" he said. She huffed

"Courtney does not lose!" she yelled, and pressed the button to start another race. 

"Unbelievable." Duncan mumbled, as Courtney won the race. She cheered and stood up on his bed wearing her fuzzy socks 

"Yes!" she threw her hands into the air "I am the Mario Cart Champion!" 

Duncan growled and rolled his eyes as she started to do a little happy dance

"I won, I won," she sang.

A knock came to the door, and it opened, revealing Gwen and Skye 

"What's this I hear about a new Mario Cart Champ?" Gwen asked, walking in with Skye. 

"I beat Duncan!" Courtney said. Skye laughed and clapped

"Congrats! No one can usually beat Duncan at Mario Cart," she said. Duncan just continued to shake his head, grumbling to himself. 

"Hmm, I wonder if I could beat the new champion herself?" Gwen said, smirking at Courtney. 

"Oh, you're on," Courtney said. Duncan tossed Gwen the controller and the two girls made their way to the bed. 

"Woah, who said you could have a party without us?" Came a voice from the doorway. 

Courtney looked over and smiled big as Geoff and Bridgette walked in. Hand in hand

"Bridge!" Courtney beamed and ran over and gave her roommate a hug. 

"Oh no way, this isn't a party without some beer," Duncan said, going to his mini fridge and pulling out some. He tossed one to Geoff and one to Gwen. He looked at Courtney and held it out for her "Want one?" 

Courtney bit her lip. Her Father would be so mad if he found out she was underage drinking. 

She slowly smirked at Duncan "Sure," she said, he smirked back and handed her the beer. 

Izzy ended up showing up with Dj a few minutes after, and Skye texted Jace to come over as well. Pretty soon it really was a party, Geoff threw some music on and popped some popcorn in the microwave as everyone laughed and took turns playing Mario Cart. 

"Oh come on!" Bridgette growled, as Skye beat her at the race. Skye laughed

"I call playing next!" Izzy said, sticking her hand up with a little bounce. 

Courtney smiled as she looked around at all of her new friends. Everyone was having such an amazing time, she couldn't keep the smile from her face. 

She felt a piece of popcorn fly at her and hit her in the face. She blinked and glared at Duncan who was whistling and looking away like nothing ever happened. She slowly smirked evilly and grabbed the bowl of popcorn, and crawled over to him. 

He barely had time to react before she spilled the entire bowl over his head. The buttery snack getting stuck in his jelled hair. 

"Oh you're in for it now, Princess!" Duncan laughed as an all out popcorn war irrupted in the dorm room.

Courtney laughed as she threw pieces at Skye, as Skye threw them at Geoff. 

Little by little, as the night went on, and the more time Courtney spent with these amazing people, she felt herself finally starting to feel at ease. 

She hadn't been this happy in a long time
