(Y/N) POV

The Griffins turned out to not be to all that bad. You can't attack something you can't catch. That was a major engineering design Atlas aimed for the Eagle. It has so much speed its lethal. In fact, I'm the only pilot to fly it and came out of it, not in a body bag.

I was hot on the tail of the last griffin. I shot the large caliber rifles mounted to the front to kill it.

I started to scope out the ground situation. It appears that the team gathered up the town in the centre so it would be easier to protect them....smart move. From my vantage point, I can see the grim have started their charge.

I could help them kill the grim from the air. But I risk shooting STRQ in the process as they kill grim. Instead, I'll land and load the townspeople in the Eagle to bring them to the safety of the sky. It would be much easier to fight grim without having to worry about others.

I shot off to the centre of the town and activate the vertical thrusters for a smooth landing.

"Team STRQ, I'm going to load the citizens in the Eagle until you guys can get the ground situation figured out," I say over our intercoms

"Copy," The team replies as I land my aircraft

I open the cargo door to see many eyes of citizens on me.

"Come on in, you'll be safer, stay calm, you have plenty of time and room to board," I order them as they start filing in

As they all come in, I leave my plane to insure everyone is inside. Thank god this town wasn't very bad. The cargo bay was filled with people. I managed to make my way back to my cockpit

"Get ready to be air born, cover your ears, I'll try and make it smooth, no matter what happens don't panic," I say over the planes intercoms. I turn on the engines as they rumble to life. I lift us off the ground slow and steady with the vertical thrusters

"Everyone is off the ground," I tell the others on the ground

"Copy!" Everyone says relieved that they don't need to worry anymore

All I need to do is stay in the air, however, if the engines stay running and not moving. They will overheat. I can only slow the process down. I activate a mode that keeps the plane in one place without me being in the cockpit

I leave the cockpit and head to the engine room. I start fiddling around with levers to reduce power output, which in theory, will decrease engine temperatures. I head back up the cockpit, and I reduce the amount of fuel being pumped into the engines as much as I can while still being able to stay in the air.

Know it's time to wait, I'll trust that Summer and the other three can deal with the grim before the engine gets too hot.

I waited well into the night when I got the call I was waiting for.

"All clear (Y/N)," Summer says

I dropped the aircraft to the ground and open the Cargo door to let everyone out. I also activated the external lights which easily lit up the whole village. STRQ had everyone calmly return to their houses as I prep the Eagle for some scouting work. The first job was resetting the levers and options I had trying to reduce heat. The second was fitting a silencer to dampen the Eagle's loud engines.

It won't completely eliminate the sound, but it will make it quieter. Only bad thing was, it reduced the power the engine could make by a huge chunk....and it required getting down and dirty

"(Y/N)? Is that you?" A hear someone ask as I was under the engine fitting the silencer

"Yea, give me a second, I'll be out in a flash," I say as I finish what I was doing and crawled out.

I was meet with an unfamiliar face. She had (H/C) hair and was an older person for sure

"Hi? Do you know me?" I ask her. Her face saddens and says, "I kinda do, I helped work on the Eagle a few years ago when it was still in development, I was surprised to see it here........hell even to see it flying,"

Her voice sounded both sad and excited

"Yea, compared to the dust powered aircraft, this girl outshines them in every way," I say with a smirk. The women also smirked

"I know she had it in her, just to be sure, you are (Y/N) Ironwood?" She asks

"Yes, I am," I say smiling

"My, I haven't seen you since you were 8," she says looking me over

"Haha, sorry I don't remember you, what's your name, maybe if I hear it I'll remember," I tell her

"It's Carole Beckons, I was in charge of the whole program at one point," She says as her voice and face become even sadder than they alrighty were

"Carole.....I don't remember," I say scratching my head

"Carole" starts looking around the engine bay

"Wow, it's almost the same as how I left it," She says looking at the engine. She looks at one thing in particular.

"That's different," she says walking up to it

I follow her, we arrive at the old electronic compartment.

"Yea, I believe the old system was flawed so we cut the processing unit off and made a new one," I tell her

"Ah, I see," She says looking at it worried

"You should be on your way," I say, " I have work yet to do," I continue

"Can I stay, your hoping to put on the Silencer right?" She says

"Jeez, you really did help engineer it," I say as I laugh," I could use an extra hand," I tell her

"Perfect," She smiles

"I'm going to take a break though, I'll let you check the engine out a bit more," I say as I leave the engine room. I make my way to where Summer and the others were

"You know, that plane of yours is too loud," Qrow complains

"You know that plane of mine can travel 10x faster than a bullhead," I come back at him. He just shrugs it off

"Where's Tai and Raven," I ask

"Probably getting all lovey-dovey on each other," Summer says with her cheeks puffed out

"Oh?" I ask confused

"You don't know what that means do you," Qrow looks at me with a straight face

"Listen, I know all four strokes of my engine, and not a chance have I ever heard that term....ever," I tell him

"Ahhhhh! I'm stuck here! And Raven is with Tai.....so lucky!" Summer says disappointed

"Should I be offended?" I ask Qrow

"Probably," he whispers back as he wanders off leaving me and Summer alone

"So why do you seem against Raven and Tai being around each other alone?" I ask being the innocent teenager I am

"Why do you ask?......I guess I could tell you....but I like Tai.....but Tai likes Raven and Raven likes him," Summer explains

"Ohhh, is that this dating thing I've heard around Beacon?" I ask her

Summer blushes," I guess you could call it that,"

"And you want to date Tai but he and Raven are dating," I put together

"Right," She says depressed

"Ahh, so why don't you date both Raven and Tai?" I ask confused

"That's not how it works!" Summer says flustered

"Hmm," I say confused

"Ahhhhhh, you know what, you know your mom and your dad, well they once dated because they care for each other," Summer explains

"Haha, about that, I don't remember much of my mom, I asked father about it one time and all I got was "that's classified" so like him," I say with disgust in my voice

" damn it! I forgot your dad is Mr. Ironwood!" Summer says frustrated

"I don't get you," I say sitting down

"I don't get you!" Summer says as she sits next to me

"All I can explain, is I think I like Tai....like a lot," she says

"Hmm," I just agree with her

We stay in silence for a while

"I'm going to find Qrow before he gets into trouble, please don't say anything about this to Raven and Tai," Summer says getting up

"Lips are sealed," I reassure her

"Thank you," she says as she goes skipping toward the direction Qrow went into. I sat there alone until a certain pairing showed up

"Tai!" I call out

"What do you need?" He asks as he walks up to me with Raven. From the corner of my eye, I saw them holding hands

"Are you two dating?" I ask straightforwardly

"Um..." Both Tai and Raven says as they blush and look away

"I...guess," Raven says

"Why?" I ask as I take out a notebook

"Why...I guess because I like her and it just feels right," Tai says looking into Ravens eyes

"Tai," Raven says as they get closer

"Hmm, hmm, anything else," I ask when I finished writing it down, I completely ruined the mood

"Why are you asking?" Tai asks a bit annoyed

"Oh, I just don't understand it," I say straight-faced

"Listen, dude, you'll just know it, you'll feel it in your heart. You will meet a girl that whenever you see her your body will get all tingly. Trust me you'll know," Tai says as they walk away

"I'll just know eh', ah man, I should payed more attention in biology class.....but it's just so boring!

I rap up my break and head toward the Eagle. When I went back into the Engine room, I saw Carole all greased up and all grubby.

"Finished!" She says with a smile

"Already!" I ask looking to see the silencer was all fitted properly

"Yep, I know almost every nook and cranny of this old girl," Carole says with a smile

"Damn, then I'll call half of my crew to scout out the area, I'm sure we killed most of the grim but never can be too careful," I tell her

Carole nods her head

"It was nice seeing you again, I wish I look at every in him of this, but you guys are on a time limit I see," She says as she goes to leave

"Ok, if I need any help you'll be the first person I call," I tell her

She smiles and leaves the engine room

I call Summer and Qrow to help scout the area from the Eagle with me

Carole POV

I can't believe him.....I can't believe he did that. I knew James was in a rush...but I never expected this.

First I find my son still piloting that machine....but I find out he also stripped her out...not for long

(Y/N) will find out soon enough....after all I reconnected her to the aircraft.....but he will find out soon....what makes the Eagle so special...
