Tenesera/Lanzarote

I flew to Lanzarote with my family for the winter holidays. It's a small island in the Atlantic that belongs to Spain.

Lanzarote is part of the 'Canary Islands', a group of islands located west of Africa. The entire archipelago was formed by volcanic eruptions many years ago.
As a result, lava stone and other elements from the earth's interior can be found everywhere on the island. For example, olivine, a green gemstone.

Today we went to the coast:
This coast, formed from black lava stone, was steep and sharp-edged. At the very front, it went straight down about six meters into the raging water. Even the waves broke on the rocks.

But the amazing thing was that there were little, red crabs everywhere at the bottom of the rocks, clinging with all their might to what they needed to survive: the rock.

We humans should take animals as an example more often! Don't let go, but cling to every opportunity, no matter how small!

Back to the actual topic:
We continued to follow the path along the cliff. With every step we took away from the parking lot, I felt freer. I started jumping along the edge from one rock to the next, like a chamois in the mountains.

It is difficult to understand this feeling unless you have experienced it yourself.
There, on Lanzarote, it was the first time I felt like that.
It was a mixture of joy, freedom, contentment and high spirits.
My stomach was tingling, and still is, every time I think about that moment.
It's a little bit, like you're in love...

But how can you feel like that at a place you've never been before?
I think it depends on what you are craving... For some, the heart beats faster at a huge castle or villa, for others at a simple farm.

For everyone it is a different place or location.
It doesn't have to be your own home, even if you feel comfortable there. Sometimes a tiny but important detail is missing...

We are constantly perceiving our environment. Every hour, every minute, every second. However, we do not perceive a large part of it with our superconsciousness, but with our subconsciousness.

I think it's this part of our brain that decides whether we feel good or not.
This feeling is also called 'gut feeling', even if it is not controlled by our gut but by our brain. However, our 'gut feeling' is usually communicated to us through our stomach: tingling, cramping, pressure, ...

So we continued along the cliffs until the path finally widened and became something like a viewing platform. This area was something like a ledge over the raging water. At this edge the drop was even about ten meters steep into the water.

All over this ledge there were small 'natural pools', Deepenings  in the rock that had filled with water.
But not by rainwater, at least not mostly, but by the seawater that crashed against the steep edge and splashed up here. Sometimes there were huge waves that crashed against the rock. The water rose high like giant geysers. It looked so amazing...

However, it was anything but frightening: I walked to the edge and looked down into the deep, dark turquoise water, decorated with the foam crests of the waves.
It looked so beautiful down there in the water!

There was even a crevice where you could go down to the water, to a small bay.

Here the water was shallow and only got deeper. Not like other parts of the coast, where the deep, dark water reached right up to the rocks.

At some point we unfortunately had to go back to the car and then to our holiday home. I didn't want to leave this place!
It felt strange to leave... Like leaving someone you loved...

I don't know if I can ever come back to this place or if I will feel the same feeling at another one.
But I often think back to this place and this moment~

Dance with the waves,
Move withe the sea.
Let the rhythm of the water
Set your soul free.
