I rant about certain words that freak me out/make me slightly unconfortable
For anyone who needs a refresher on what an adjective, a verb, or an adverb is, look no further than Mya's writing reminders!
Mya's writing reminders:
An adjective is a word that describes something.
Ex: Galaxy angrily blasted the training dummy with turquoise magic.
A verb is an action word.
Ex: Galaxy angrily blasted the training dummy with turquoise magic.
An adverb is a word that is added on to a verb to describe it.
Ex: Galaxy angrily blasted the training dummy with turquoise magic.
Okay, now that everyone's on the same page, let's get started with the rant!
Words that creep me out/make me feel slightly uncomfortable:
#1: Purred
If you're using it as a noise that a cat made when it's happy, that's fine. But it's NOT fine when you use it to describe how a character is talking.
Unless you're trying to creep your audience out, don't make your humans purr. It's freaky.
#2: Huskily/Husky
I mean this word as an adverb/adjective, not the breed of dog. I have nothing against huskies.
Some people use this word to, once again, describe how a character talks. Let's see what the dictionary has to say about this word:
(of a voice or utterance) sounding low-pitched and slightly hoarse.
Unless your character is sick, they shouldn't sound like this.
Yeah, that's pretty much it. I just really don't like these two words, so I made a chapter about them.
Also, Happy Canada Day, Happy 4th of July, and happy any other holiday that's happened recently!
Pig out!
Edit: okay for some reason I can't reply to comments, so I'm sorry if I sort of leave you on a cliffhanger if you ask a question or something.
