The Weight of Words

A word's edge

Gives the sharpest cuts

The deepest wounds

Yet

Is a soothing salve

To heal a soul

To make you whole

Diamond from coal

A word's power

Can shred

Can tear

Bring joy

Bring fear

Or love

Or hate

Or come

Too late

With weight and strength

They're casually cast

An arrow to the psyche

With scars that last

Be a warrior of words

Be vocabulary's best

And wield them with care

Lest

Unseen wounds

Fester within

So use them to bring joy

Not sin

Words, such weapons.

A single word can cut deep and leaves scars that never fade. A single words can make you feel you can fly and see eternity.

Words are powerful, something, as a writer (particularly of these poems), I know very well.

Use them wisely.
