Part 1

"Dude! Just try it out!" Emily said.

"I'm not interested, Em!" I said annoyed working on my laptop.

Emily has recently started a dating app. She wants me to try it out and give her feedbacks on how to improve it. But now she's getting on my nerves!

I'm gay! And I've recently discovered that. But I haven't yet told anybody about it. I mean yes, Emily is my best friend and all, but after I became sure about this, I had to muster up the courage to tell her. I know that of all people in this whole world, she is the only one I'm sure would be supportive about this, but I still had to think it out in my head before I could tell her. And I didn't quite get the right moment to approach her about this.

But guess what! I think I'm going to try this app out. One, because I got to help her out; and two because there's no harm in just checking out and talking to a few people, in that way I'll be able to make new friends too!

"Okay!" I said with a sigh.

"Yay!!!" She threw her hands in the air and started running all over the room. I chuckled! Still a child!

My phone beeped. I had a new match.

After I agreed, and Emily completed her happy dance, she quickly made an account for me! So all I had to do was 'swipe'! Left or right, whichever I prefer.

It was a girl named Anna, who matched me. And she also texted me.

Anna: Hi!

Okay! So nothing classy, just a normal 'hi'! Now what should I reply to that? Another hi?

Andrew: Hey!

Anna: So Andrew, tell me something about yourself.

Andrew: That sounds like I'm in an interview! Haha! You can just check my bio!

Anna: Tell me something about yourself that's not in the bio, dumbass!

It's her third text to me, and she's already calling me a dumbass! Interesting!

I went into the living room. As expected, Emily was spread all across the couch watching Netflix!

I lift up her legs and sit placing her long legs on my thigh. I took a handful of chips from her packet. She didn't seem to mind. Maybe because I agreed for the dating app thing!

I told her about what Anna said. She was so excited to meet her after hearing. She said Anna was correct with the 'dumbass' thing.

Yah! Of course she was! And who better than Emily to acknowledge that!

Emily analysed Anna to be a straightforward girl! And she gave a thumbs up about me continuing this.

Trust me! When Em gives you a green signal, you should definitely go for it! And moreover, her analysis is always right! It has to be! There's no other way! No wonder she played cupid in school days!

Anna: Hey! Do you think we should meet?

We had texted quite a lot after that 'dumbass' thing. And when I told her that my friend created this app, she was more than excited to meet her. It was as if she was more excited to meet her, than to meet me.

We talked about what we like, and what we don't, a lot about Emily, and her ex. We shared a lot in the past few days! But we didn't call or something. I mean, yes, we exchanged numbers, and sometimes texted over whatsapp, but things weren't so forward!

But now all of a sudden she wants to meet? What should I do?

Well, whenever you're in a fix, you do only one thing!

Ask Emily for help!

"Em!!!" I called out.

She didn't answer! I was about to call out her name again, louder this time, when my phone went off.

Emily was calling!

This girl! She's probably the laziest person walking on this planet. Sorry! Not walking! That would require effort! She is the laziest person resting on this planet.

Having no other options, I walked to the living room. Same thing! Emily and Netflix. Sometimes I feel like I am no longer her bestie, Netflix is!

I sat with her legs on my thigh!

"Hey!" I said. "Anna wants to meet. What should I say?"

"Good!" She said pushing a handful of chips into her mouth and munching it.

She kept on munching, and I waited.

When she again put her hand inside the packet, I snatched it away!

"What?" She said looking irritated.

"One, you should not eat junk all the time, how many times do I tell you! And two, what the heck bro! I just said that Anna wants to meet, and all you say is 'good'? I mean what's that supposed to mean?" I said.

"That's supposed to mean that it's good! Duh!" She said snatching the packet back from me.

"But -"

"Okay okay! It's really good that she asked you to meet, because knowing you, I know you would've taken eternity to ask that! So just go and meet her! What's there to ask?" She said sitting up.

"But you know I'm not serious about this thing, right?"

"Look, just take it easy bro! Go, talk with Anna, have tasty food, make a new friend, and that's it! Also tell her about this whole 'non-serious' business" she said double-quoting non-serious in the air with her fingers. "Got it?"

I nodded.

"Ah-hah-hah!" Em said with a  devil smile playing on her lips, rubbing her palms with one another. "This is gonna be fun!" She said.

"Dude! I have something to tell you!" I said.

"Dude! I've never seen a boring person like you! All these years, I've never seen you date! So technically you never required dating advice. So, you never took the advantage of having such a good love-doctor as your bestie!" She said. "And now that I have the chance, please don't ruin it for me! Lemme see what dress you should wear..."

"Says the one who's still single."

"So what? I've not found the one yet! But I still dated in school!"

"Only one guy, that too for six months!"

"Shut up! I've dated five!" She said gesturing her five fingers.

"Five? When???"

She sighed. "I'm not having this conversation with you, we're running late!" She said walking toward my wardrobe and raiding my so nicely organized closet.

"I practically never had a girlfriend because the whole school thought we were dating" I gestured my finger between the two of us.

"Oh please! That was because you never had a girlfriend!" She said pointing an accusing finger at me.

"What if I say that it was because you never had a boyfriend!"

She just rolled her eyes and stayed quiet.

"So... you were saying something??" She pointed out. Definitely changing the topic.

"Nothing important! It's just that I'm a little nervous!" I said.

"Really now Andy?" She said raising her left eyebrow. She's not buying it.

"What?" I said with an awkward smile.

Well, I was initially going to tell her that I'm gay. But here I go again, ignoring the matter.
