Evelyn's summer away was everything she needed and more. As much as she hated the idea of being dragged around by her mother attending important business meetings. It was actually pretty enjoyable traveling from city to city and country to country watching her mom in her element. Also, getting free clothes was a pretty good perk. But, she did miss Enrique and she really missed her boyfriend who actually kept his promise and called her every day.

"Olivia!" Evelyn ran up to her best friend immediately wrapping her arms around her.

Liv reciprocated the gesture and tugged her friend into a hug. "God, I missed you."

"My first stop was Beverly High," she giggled. "I haven't even seen Enrique. I wanted to see you first."

"I'm honored," Liv faked enthusiasm, pressing a hand to her heart. "But, I think JJ has something to say to you."

Evelyn's eyebrows pinched together at how fast Liv tried to get rid of her. No matter how much she tried to keep up her friendship with Liv things between the two were sort of weird.

She turned around to look at the blonde, who was happily waving his hand in the air at her. "I'll see you later. I guess."

"Evelyn Hernandez my favorite twin!" JJ yelled, pulling the girl in for a hug. "I'm throwing my half-birthday party at the cafe tonight. Be there or I'm replacing you as my best friend."

She raised her eyebrow up in surprise. "I thought Ricky was your best friend? But, of course, I'll be there. Don't worry, JJ."

"Hello, ex-girlfriend," Jordan raised his eyebrow up at her.

"Hello, ex-boyfriend," she mocked. "How's Simone? Did she have the baby, yet?"

"Not yet," he said. "She's close though."

JJ looked between the former couple listening in on their conversation and blinked his eyes profusely. "He practically broke your heart, Evie. How are you so...nice?"

"It's called being mature," Evelyn told him. "I like the Jordan Baker who has a girlfriend and isn't being a dick. Simone's good for him."

Jordan grinned at her response. "Thanks, Evie."

Evelyn gave him a small pat back on the back before walking away with JJ and standing near one of the entrances of the school as they admired the Black Lives Matter painting on the floor.

"Hey, raise your damn paintbrushes for my boy!" JJ yelled. "Asher Adams in the hizzouz!"

"Move it blondie," Evelyn hissed bumping JJ's hip. "Asher!"

Asher's eyes lit up as his girlfriend jumped into his arms. The feeling of her legs wrapping around his body sent shivers down his back, a feeling that he had missed over the break. "Oh, babe, I missed you."

"I thought you weren't back until tomorrow," she said pressing a kiss to his lips.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Surprise...We got back a day early."

"Come on," Evelyn urged, hopping down onto the floor. "Let's go back to my place. Now."

"Duty calls," Asher told JJ, giving him a handshake.

"Ooh," the blonde chuckled. "I get it. Priorities."

☆☆☆

"Wow...I definitely missed that, too."

Asher lifted his head from his girlfriend's chest and moved off of her body. The two had been reconnecting since they got to her house.

She nodded her head in response too out of breath to even talk. They had been away from each other for three months and Asher was definitely making up for it.

"So, how was your summer?" he asked, grabbing his clothes from the floor and redressing. "Meet any supermodels that you plan on leaving me for?"

"Did I meet any supermodels? Yes," she said, plucking a random t-shirt off of the ground and throwing it over her body. "Do I plan on leaving you for them? No. Those guys are more into you than they are me. If you know what I mean."

Right as he was about to answer, Enrique busted through her room with his hands over his eyes. "I saw Asher's car on the driveway and I do not need to know what's going on. But, I needed my presence to be known."

"We're not doing anything," Asher chuckled. "You can move your hands."

"Say that to the messy hair," Enrique scoffed. The couple blushed furiously, turning towards each other and beginning to pat their hair down.

"Anyways," Evelyn drawled. She pushed the blanket off of her legs and ran towards her brother, wrapping her arms around him. "Hug me back, idiot. I haven't seen you in three months."

"Not in front of my bro," he groaned, pushing her away. "By the way, I'm gonna need you guys to give me a ride to JJ's half birthday thing."

"Why?" Asher asked. "I thought you were off punishment."

"Dad caught me with some college chicks," Enrique grinned proudly. "It's been extended for another month. So, Evelyn's my chauffeur, again. Hurry and get dressed, sinner."

After letting out small laughs, Asher sat back and watched as his girlfriend walked around her room and entered her closet to pick out an outfit for the night. He was in awe of his girlfriend and was in love with her but, he couldn't help but feel a little guilty about the summer that he spent not entirely by himself.

"Babe?" Evelyn shook him out of his thoughts. "Are you ready?"

"Yeah," Asher sighed. "Sorry, I was in my own world. You look nice."

"Nice?" she scoffed. "I look hot."

Asher pressed a small kiss to her cheek. "You look gorgeous."

☆☆☆

"Did you guys read that article?" Evelyn asked, peeking her head in between the front seats after allowing her brother and Asher to catch up a bit.

"You mean, the one where Spencer said we were in his past," Enrique scoffed. "Yeah, I did...How long would dad extend my punishment if I got into another fight at the cafe?"

"Don't be an idiot," Asher said, pulling his car up to the valet.

"What happened to you, man?" he groaned. "You used to encourage my behavior."

"I got a girlfriend," Asher responded. "She makes me want to be better. You should get yourself one of these. They're pretty handy."

"I'm not a toy, Asher!" Evelyn grumbled.

As they walked up to the front doors they spotted Spencer and Layla lip-locking. The tension practically radiated off of Enrique who had considered Spencer one of his best friends but he was definitely the pettier twin and he couldn't help but let out a few snarky comments.

"Huh? Beverly might be in your past but Layla clearly isn't," Enrique scoffed, bumping past the couple with Asher who had followed quietly behind. "Traitor."

"Sorry about him," Evelyn apologized, giving the two a hug. "He lacks manners."

"Oh, my sweet little Evelyn," Layla cooed. "I missed you. I know we talked practically every day and we hung out a couple of times but, I think I had separation anxiety."

Although Evelyn would consider herself to be closer to Olivia. There was something off about her and she tried her best to pry the truth during the summer but failed, miserably. So, naturally, the two sort of drifted and Layla and Evelyn got extremely closer.

As the two walked into the cafe, Liv's head turned towards the two giving them a small gesture for them to join her at the empty table she was sitting at.

"I ordered you food," Asher slid his girlfriend over a plate of chicken tenders and French fries, pressing a small peck to her cheek before heading over to the pool table. "Thank me later!"

"Isn't he sweet?" Layla chuckled, reaching over to eat off of her friend's plate.

"You would know," she snorted. Layla rolled her eyes in response at the mention of their former relationship.

Evelyn's eyes moved as she noticed a pair of men's sneakers right beside her. Once she looked up she couldn't help but let out a loud laugh at his appearance. He clearly looked out of place with his Westlake High School shirt and the stupid smirk on his face.

Dane pressed his palms against the table looking directly at Evelyn. "I never got your name at that party."

"She has a boyfriend," Liv informed him.

"Listen, Dan, I'm sure you're a decent guy," Evelyn started off. "But, I'm simply not interested. Like, at all."

"It's Dane," he corrected. "And you know that."

"Babe!" Asher called out from the pool table, making Dane and everyone else draw their attention to him. "You good?"

Dane's face fell as he looked at Asher. "Oh, you were for real. Alright, then. I'm just gonna...go. But, don't hesitate to reach out."

She wiggled her fingers at him watching as he joined Cam at the pool table to probably go taunt the rest of the boys. "Bye, Dan!"

Liv let out a laugh at her friend's antics before turning her head and eyeing Spencer, her mood drastically shifting. "So, Layla, you and Spencer?"

"Yeah," Layla blushed. "It kind of happened in Vegas. But I wasn't entirely sure until tonight."

"Wow," Liv let out a fake laugh. "Sounds like I missed a lot."

"You and me both," Evelyn pouted.

"Okay, you were attending fashion shows with your famous designer mom. Vegas was nothing compared to that," Layla told her before turning to Liv. "How was your sobriety sister? The one you stayed in L.A. to help over the Vegas weekend."

Olivia hesitated as she took a sip out of her personal water bottle. "Yeah. Um, she's better. Thanks."

"Is that all you did this summer?" Evelyn curiously asked.

"Wasn't a very eventful summer," Liv shrugged. "Sorry to disappoint."

Layla gave Evelyn a small look, also noticing the strange behavior before simply dismissing it. The three girls placed their attention towards the pool table and noticed the conversation between Jordan and Spencer getting heated. They watched as Spencer attempted to grab onto Jordan's arm before he turned around and threw a punch at him, with Spencer quickly reciprocating the punch.

"This was fun while it lasted," Evelyn sighed, getting up from the table. "I'm gonna go home before Ricky tries to punch Spencer, too."
