Mother?
I sit on the couch in the common room, basically laying on top of Loki as we watch the news. I change the channel to another news station.
"....some sort of enhanced being tearing up downtown Columbus, Ohio...."
The being almost looks like my stone form, except they seem to be made of flames.
Loki and I both sit up straight right as Steve walks in.
"Suit up!"
We both get to our feet and start heading for the jet hanger. Loki's armor appears and I shift into my stone form, the sound of my feet clicking the floor.
We get into the jet and strap in.
"Y/n and Banner are our last resorts," Steve looks at us, "stay in the jet unless we need you."
"Copy," I nod.
"Gotcha."
Loki subtly takes my hand lacing his fingers in mine.
"Hopefully, you can stay in here," he whispers.
"Why?" I raise a brow.
"Because I want as much time with you as I can get," a small, almost sad smile appears on his face.
"Even though I'm like this?" I gesture to my stone form.
"Yes," he lifts my hand to his lips and kisses the back of it.
It doesn't take long for us to get to Columbus and the rest of the team runs out of the jet. Loki steals on last glace at me before exciting.
"So you sure there's nothing going on there?" Bruce asks once everyone else is gone.
I look down at my hands, not able to hide the small smile on my face.
"You know you don't have that long, y/n," concern tints his voice.
"I know," I sigh, "but I'm going to make the most of it."
"Guys we definitely need you!" Nat comes over the coms.
Loki's POV
The being has us all pinned behind cover as it continues to throw it's flames at us.
"Guys we definitely need you!" Romanoff shouts into the coms.
The rawr of the Hulk follows quickly and the loud smash of a car comes from not so far away. I glance from around my cover, spotting the Hulk letting y/n down gently.
Flames come right for her and she forms a stone wall to block it.
Hulk throws something at the being, momentarily distracting it and allowing us out from our cover to rejoin the fight.
"Are you alright, Love?" I shout over the chaos as I come up beside y/n.
"I just got out here," she kicks her cover and sends it flying at the enhanced, "I should be asking you that."
"Don't over do it," I watch the enhanced dodge the stone.
"Still an over concerned boy," she grins at me.
"I'm serious, Dove," I pull her out of the way of more flames, "I don't want to lose you."
"I know," she pecks my cheek and gets back to the fight.
We dodge flames, or flame engulfed objects as we all exchange blows with the enhanced.
"You're such a fucking hot head!" Someone shouts.
A large wave of water crashed over the enhanced, putting out the flames and revealing a young man.
"You need to calm the fuck down," a woman washes over to him on a small body of water.
She looks almost like y/n.
"They fucking started it!!"
"You're three billion years old! GROW UP!"
Y/n steps out from behind the cover ready to form a stone cage around them but freezes upon see in them.
"Love, what is it?" I go to her.
"I think I know them," she stares at the pair.
The woman looks back at y/n and her jaw drops.
"Mother?"
A large gust of wind knocks the entire team off there feet as a figure of pure air lands next to the pair.
It says nothing as it creates a vortex around them and they take off into the air.
"What the hell just happened?" Clint grunts as he gets back to his feet.
"I haven't the foggiest," I look to where the pair had stood and back to y/n who's mind seems to race.
~
Y/n's POV
I sit in the conference room with the others, mind racing as I try to take in what just happened.
They looked familiar, but where have I seen them?
The woman had called me mother.
But I would remember if I had a kid right?
Scoffing at myself I rub my face.
Like hell I would remember, I can't remember much past the last two centuries.
"So we are fairly sure that those were the elementals that are supposedly a threat to us right?" Sam ask.
"Fire, water, air," I deadpan, "yeah I think it's them."
"Is no one going to talk about the fact that the water lady called y/n 'mother'?" Tony jumps in.
"Yeah since when did you have a kid?" Clint looks to me.
"No fucking clue," I groan, "but both of them looked familiar somehow and the woman looked like me. So I guess I did have a kid at some point."
"Or two," Nat chips in.
"What?" My head shoots to her.
"They were arguing like siblings would," she shrugs, "and they did share some features."
"But she said he was what?" Steve looks around the room, "three billion years old? How is that possible if y/n's only four thousand?"
"Unless she's not," all heads turn to Bruce, "that was an estimate based on her body's level of deterioration. We could be completely wrong."
I bang my head on the table with a groan.
"Why can't there just be a piece of paper that just tells me everything I need to know about myself?" I mumble.
This earns a chuckle from Nat.
"You think I'm kidding," I look up at her, "It would be so much easier. We would know where my origins are, we would know how old I am, we would know if those people were my kids, we would know everything."
"Yeah it would be easier," she nods in agreement, "but life doesn't work that way."
"You're telling me," I grumble, resting my chin on the table.
Fuck life.
