Part 6
Let's face it. He loved me more than anyone else. And I'm not lying when I said I loved him back. Obsession with someone is never healthy, but I just couldn't-and still can't- help it. I miss him greatly, and I'm sure he feels the same way. I know this, and you'll soon see why.
It started last night. I'd had a dream for the first time in a long while. I stood in a dark forest, the moon shining bright above the foliage. Fog rolled in, creating a mystical, yet unnerving, feeling.
"August." My heart leapt at the sound of the voice. Quiet, yet with a tone of urgency that told me something must be wrong. I turn around and around, trying to locate where the voice is coming from. It sounded so familiar, yet so strange. That's when the fog cleared in front of me, revealing a person. Yes. It was him. I try to run over and hug him, but he grabs me by the shoulders, and looks at me worriedly.
"August, please don't do this. You're continuing down the same path I once went down. Things will end very, very horribly for you, and I don't want you to die the same way I did." That's when I remembered. The nurses told me they also saw tens of puncture wounds, along with all the other horrible injuries.
"Do you really want to perish like this?" His figure then shifted until he looked the way he did in the hospital. I never wanted to see him like that ever again, and I didn't think I would. But it was so horrific that I burst out crying.
"I'm sorry, but you have your warning. Be safe." He faded into the fog, his last word echoing through the darkness. Then I was alone, yet again.
--------
I wake up, sweating hard, tears obviously staining my cheeks. Even when he's dead, he cares. That goes above and beyond the human limits for affection. But he was serious. He came to warn me.
Some Tsunami Grunts knocked on my door, told me to get up. We had a busy day ahead of us. Apparently, the Grunts had dyed their hair a bright electric blue, as a "contribution to their new leader". They told me so as soon as I was downstairs.
They'd developed plans to rebuild the main part of HQ. He'd see. He'll be happy when he's back; we will see each other again. We'll never have to be apart. Eternal life with each other... it's a dream come true. Imagine, ten thousand years with your lover who you thought you lost forever, with never-ending happiness.
With the rubble cleared, we were able to refinish the walls, restore the equipment, and clean up all the glass on the floor. All that's left is to restore the weapon so that it serves its original purpose. Xerosic told me that traces of Fairy-Type energy have been radiating from the center of the forest. Xerneas seems to be somewhere close.
---
The woods are dark and it was the middle of the night when we arrived. I wasn't sure if I was going insane, or he was trying to warn me again, but I kept hearing voices telling me not to go any further. They began to grow louder as we all approached the center, screaming at us, "No! You're going to get hurt! Don't go further! Please!"
Flowers bloomed in a circle around the natural centerpiece: a single tree, with bare branches like antlers. I'd been told that both Legendary Pokémon had a dormant forme, and legend says Xerneas takes the form of a tree. Knowing this, I told them to take the tree. If the Fairy energy stops radiating, we'll know we've gotten the right relic.
