CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE, oh santa baby
(violet's outfit for this part of the chapter)
Violet's favorite holiday was finally here again—Christmas. The twinkling lights, the smell of pine trees and colorful treats, and the excitement and joy in the air—it all made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. But this year, it was the first Christmas with Jackson as boyfriend and girlfriend. And she couldn't have been happier.
They were currently cuddling on her bed, watching a classic Christmas movie. Well, she was trying to watch the movie, but Jackson had other ideas. He was currently kissing her neck and nuzzling closer, his warm breath sending shivers down her spine. Violet giggled, half-heartedly pushing him away. "Jackson, we're supposed to be watching the movie." She teased, though her voice betrayed how much she enjoyed his attention.
"How can I focus on the movie when you're right here?" He murmured against her skin, his lips brushing lightly over her neck. He pulled back slightly, a mischievous grin playing on his face as he looked at her with those beautiful blue eyes she always felt like she was drowning in.
"Fine, you've convinced me." She whispered, cupping his face and pulling him in for a kiss. He grinned into the kiss, his hands snaking around her waist to pull her close. The warmth and the butterflies in her stomach intensified, making her melt into him. The movie was long forgotten as they lost themselves in each other, the rest of the world falling away. They stayed like this for a while, wrapped up in each other, and Violet couldn't have been happier. She felt safe and loved in his arms, and the Christmas season only added to the magic. She had a feeling this would be the best Christmas yet, even topping the last Christmas when they got together. She was looking forward to spending the holidays with him and her family.
"You know, this is already the best Christmas ever and it hasn't even started." Jackson muttered softly after they pulled away from the kiss to catch their breath.
Violet smiles, her eyes crinkling as she gazes at him adoringly while blushing. "Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's the first Christmas we get to spend together as a couple. I can't wait."
"Me too. And can you believe Kimmy is actually having Aunt Stephanie's baby?" Jackson asked in surprise.
"I know! I was shocked, but excited." She nods, her smile growing wider. "I'm so happy for Steph too. I know how much she wanted a baby. It's like a dream come true for her."
At the eighties themed party at the Smash Club Kimmy revealed she was going to be having Stephanie's baby. Everyone was so happy and excited. Stephanie had been so worried it wouldn't work out, but luckily everything went perfectly. Violet was really happy for Stephanie and couldn't wait to meet the new addition to the family.
"Yeah, she's going to be an amazing mom." Jackson commented, the two sharing a smile before be leaned in to kiss her. His hand comes up to cup her face, his thumb gently caressing her cheek as the kiss deepened. Violet sighed into the kiss, her body relaxing and melting into him. She couldn't get enough of him, and the feeling was mutual. They lost themselves in each other once more, the world fading away as they savored the moment.
After they pulled away, their foreheads rested against each other. Their breathing was slightly labored and they both grinned, the excitement and love in their eyes evident. "This is definitely going to be the best Christmas ever." They said at the same time, causing them both to chuckle.
They knew this was definitely going to be the best Christmas yet, and they couldn't wait to spend it together.

(violet's outfit for this part of the chapter, for her shoes she has on black ankle boots)
Violet sat between Violet's legs on the floor, her back against his chest. His arms were wrapped around her and he rested his chin on her shoulder. They sat on the floor in the living room next door, watching a Christmas movie with Ramona, Fernando, and Jimmy. Violet didn't know why, but she felt so happy and at ease being in Jackson's arms, surrounded by her favorite people and the cozy atmosphere. She couldn't help but think about how lucky and grateful she was for all of it.
She leaned back against him, glancing up at him to lean in to kiss his jawline. He looked down and smiled fondly at her, leaning down to brush his lips over hers.
Ramona pretends to gag. "Gross, stop being so mushy." Ramona groans. "We're trying to watch a movie."
Violet pulls away and gives them a look, but smiles and rolls her eyes, not minding their teasing. Jackson laughs, pulling her closer. "Don't listen to her, baby. We're not mushy. We're adorable."
She giggles, rolling her eyes. "Obviously."
They settle back into the movie, content to just be in each other's arms as they watch the movie. No one moved even when DJ entered the house. "Merry Christmas!" A look of shock forms on DJ's face at seeing the house was a mess and not decorated. "Oh my Santa! Guys, I worked sixty hours this week. It's four o'clock on Christmas Eve, and you still haven't gotten the house Christmas-ready? Violet already decorated her house on her own ahead of time!"
"In my defense, I like to decorate and have been planning it for months." Violet shrugged, smiling when Jackson placed a kiss on her cheek.
DJ sighs heavily. "Come on, work with me."
"You aid 'get in the Christmas spirit'." Jackson points out. "So we're watching the most heartwarming Christmas movie ever made-'Die Hard'."
DJ cringes, glancing at the movie. "'Die Hard'?"
"'Yippie-ki-yay-moth-'" Violet, Ramona, Fernando, and Jimmy started to say a line from the movie, but DJ quickly interrupted them.
"Hey ,don't finish that thought. Oh, come on, people. I don't smell cookies. I don't see tinsel. I haven't checked the halls, but I am assuming they are not decked." DJ complained.
"Mother, I tried, but they just don't have the Christmas spirit like you, me, and Tommy." Max admits as he walked down the stairs, holding Tommy's hand. Violet smiles, finding it cute he and Tommy both had Christmas vests on. "None of these lollygaggers moved a muscle. Well, besides Violet. And Jackson though Violet had to convince him to help her. But besides that, he and the others refused to hang the stockings with or without care."
"Ooh, 'Die Hard'." Stepanie excitedly said when she walked in the living room and noticed the movie. "Now it's Christmas." She grinned as she sat on the couch, making the others scoot over for her while she sat by Jimmy. Ramona ended falling off the couch and Fernando almost fell off. Ramona rolled her eyes and leaned against the couch.
"See what I've been working with?" Max sighed.
Kimmy walks in, holding a big bag similar to the bag Santa would carry his gifts in. "Oh, I knew I could count on Kimmy for some Christmas spirit. Are you gonna put out presents?" DJ asked, relieved that her best friend had her back.
"No, unless someone wants my sweaty gym socks. This is my laundry bag." Kimmy admitted, looking confused.
"Okay, that's it." DJ grabs the remote to turn the TV off, earning protests from everyone. "With dad, Uncle Jesse, and Aunt Becky visiting Michelle I was counting on you guys. You are all on my naughty list."
Jimmy stands, looking worried. "You're not gonna tell Santa, are you?"
DJ raises her hands in defense. "There's no option off the table. And I'm gonna see him in forty-five minutes because I am taking Max and Tommy to the mall. And when I get back, this room better be filled with so many Santas that I couldn't even swing a red-nosed reindeer without hitting one. There's no time for relaxation, people. It's Christmas!" She exclaims and closes the door. The door opens and she walks back inside with a sheepish look. "I should probably get Tommy." She had guided Max out, but she had left Tommy on accident. This time she left with Tommy and didn't come back yet.
"Alright, time to get to work!" Violet grins as she got up, ignoring Jackson's grumble of protest and him trying to pull her back down. She laughs, pulling him up to his feet instead. "Come on, Jax, you know we've got to get in the Christmas spirit," Violet said with a playful grin, tugging Jackson up. He rolled his eyes, but the fond smile on his face showed he wasn't really protesting.
"Fine, but only for you." He gave her a quick peck on the lips, smiling against her lips. She blushed, feeling the butterflies in her stomach intensify.
When she pulls away from the kiss, she turns to the group with a grin. "Alright, people, DJ's serious. We need Santas, tinsel, and cookies, stat."
****
The house was now decked out in full Christmas mode. The living room sparkled with tinsel hanging from every corner, strings of lights draped along the walls, and stockings finally hung with care above the fireplace. The big tree is decorated in ornaments and lights, a star sitting on top. The whole house is filled with the warm, comforting scent of sugar cookies, creating the perfect festive atmosphere.
Violet was standing on a ladder as she put ornaments on the tree with Jackson holding the ladder for her. She reached up to place another ornament on the tree, but it was her mistake for trying to place it too high. She had to stand on her tiptoes to reach, losing her balance and nearly falling off the ladder. She gasped, squeezing her eyes shut.
But luckily, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist, steadying her. She opened her eyes, and found herself looking into the worried, handsome face of her boyfriend.
"Careful, Vi." He said, his voice full of concern. "You almost fell. Maybe you shouldn't be on ladders during Christmas. Last year you almost fell and I caught you too." He teasingly added with a chuckle, his arms still securely wrapped around her.
Violet laughs softly, feeling her heart race from both the scare and the warmth of Jackson's embrace. "What would I do without you, my Christmas hero?" She teased, looking into his eyes.
"Probably fall off more ladders." He quipped, smiling playfully as he helped her safely down.
She leansd into him for a moment, enjoying the closeness, before turning her attention back to the tree. "Okay, no more ladders for me. How about you take over and I supervise?" She suggested, stepping away to let him climb the ladder.
"Sounds like a plan." He agreed, moving up the ladder and carefully placing the ornament where Violet had intended.
As he continued to place ornaments on the tree, Violet couldn't help but admire him. He looked so focused, his brows furrowed slightly as he concentrated on decorating the tree. He was wearing a Santa hat, and Violet couldn't help but think how adorable and handsome he looked.
"You're staring." Jackson pointed out without taking his eyes off the tree, smirking.
"Well, duh, my boyfriend is hot." Violet shyly replied, feeling her cheeks warm.
He turns to her, grinning as he climbs down the ladder. He moves towards her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close. "You're hotter." He said, leaning in to capture her lips. She giggled, blushing as she kissed him back and then pulled away as she glanced at Kimmy when she started singing.
Kimmy was standing at the railing, tossing tinsel on the top of the tree. "O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum, your SPF protects me." Violet chuckled as she and Jackson shared an amused look before they went back to decorating.
"Then it hit me." Violet glances over her shoulder when Jimmy and Stephanie walk in. "Silent night, holy night. Santa flies his sleigh through a hole in the space-time continuum." Jimmy then imitates an explosion. "That's how he's able to get to every home in one night."
"What don't you say out loud?" Stephanie chuckles, patting his shoulder. Her eyes widen when she saw Kimmy standing close to the railing. "Kimmy, what are you doing?"
"Duh, I'm leaning over the railing in a dangerous fashion." Kimmy sassily replied, fueling Stephanie's panic.
"No, no, no. You can't do that! You're pregnant with my baby." Stephanie rushed over to the stairs and Kimmy sighed, setting the box down and walked down the stairs.
"Why do I keep forgetting that?"
"How do you keep forgetting that you're pregnant?" Violet chuckled, glancing at the pregnant woman walking down the stairs, who shrugged in response and glanced down at her belly.
"I really should look down more often." Kimmy commented.
"Woah, did you double in size overnight?" Stephanie gasped.
Kimmy grins. "Sure did. Second trimester started today. When we Gibblers pop, we blow up like a tick on a water buffalo."
"Pregnant Gibblers also have heightened senses, but not the normal ones, like throwing up when you smell chicken or library books. We get ultra-sensitive hearing." Jimmy explained.
Kimmy nods in agreement. "Yep. In 1775, Great-Great-Great grandma Gibbler heard the British coming. That jerk Paul Revere took all the credit 'cause she was too fat to get on a horse."
"Hey, uh, what are you doing with all these old clothes?" Jackson asked Ramona after noticing she was sitting by a box of clothes on the couch. Violet glanced over curiously, also wanting to know what she was doing.
"Oh, I am collecting donations for the homeless shelter. I'm volunteering there for school community service." Ramona replied with a smile.
"That's great, Mona." Violet smiled at her and Ramona returned the smile.
"Wow, that's so cool your school makes you do that." Jackson spoke in awe. Violet sighed heavily, patting his arm. Sometimes Jackson wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
Ramona's eyebrows knit together in confusion. "You know we go to the same school?"
Violet chuckles, interlacing her hand with Jackson's. "It's a good thing you're pretty because sometimes your brain takes a holiday." Violet teased Jackson gently, giving him a playful nudge.
Jackson laughs, rubbing the back of his neck. "Hey, I have my moments!"
"You sure do, Jax." Violet said, unable to stop the giggle that escaped. He playfully rolled his eyes at her, but smiled, pulling her to his side and kissing the side of her head. Her face flushed while she smiled fondly back at him, joining him with sitting on the couch.
"I hear DJ!" Kimmy suddenly announces with a smile. Thanks to her enhanced hearing while she was pregnant she could hear DJ pull up to the house. "Now, there's someone with the Christmas spirit."
A panicked DJ rushes into the house. "Quick, get rid of all the Santas!"
"You mean the hundred Santas that you asked us all to put up?" Stephanie was surprised and confused along with everyone else though most of them started to do as they were told, despite still being confused. They didn't understand what suddenly changed DJ's mind.
"Don't use my words against me. Tommy is suddenly terrified of Santa. He had a meltdown at the mall." DJ revealed, starting to take down Santa decorations on the mantle with Kimmy's help.
"It couldn't have been that bad." Kimmy said, trying to reassure her friend.
DJ pulls out a photo that had been taken when she took Max and Tommy to see Santa. Violet grimaces at it. It wasn't what you would expect to see of a toddler with Santa since the photo had Tommy in mid scream. That wasn't good. She could understand why DJ was concerned.
"Yeah, I'm sure that would scar anyone." Violet cringed.
"Yeesh." Stephanie and Kimmy commented in unison.
Violet continued helping taking down the Santa decorations. "What could've caused Tommy to be terrified of a cheerful generous man with a jolly laugh and gives out gifts?" She wondered aloud.
"I have no idea. It could've been anything." Jackson shrugged.
"Hey, Max. How did you like Santa?" Kimmy asked Max curiously when he walked in with Tommy.
Violet frowns, noticing Max didn't look thrilled either. "It was terrific." He sarcastically said.
"I'm no linguist, but it's almost like he was saying it wasn't terrific." Jimmy pointed out.
"But Max is Mr. Christmas." Jackson spoke up in confusion. Violet nodded in agreement. Max had always been a big fan of Christmas, so why wasn't he liking it now? She sighed and went back to putting away the Santa decorations. She hoped Max would get back into the Christmas spirit soon, but something was definitely off.
****
Violet went to find Max to check in on him. She had a feeling something was bothering him, and she was worried about him. She knew Max loved Christmas, so what had happened? She found him in his room, face down on his bed
"Hey, buddy." She softly spoke, approaching his bed and sitting next to him. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"
Max didn't move, continuing to lay face down. "I don't want to talk about it." His voice was muffled, but she could still make out what he was saying.
"Come on, Max. I know you love Christmas. Something is clearly wrong." She tries again, placing a gentle hand on his back. "You're, like, Mr. Christmas around here. If something's bothering you, I'm here to listen and try to help."
Max sighs deeply but still didn't turn over. "It's just...Everything feels different this year."
Violet perks up. She was getting somewhere. She could tell he was still hiding something, but she would let it slide. She had a feeling there was more to it. "What do you mean by that?"
"Nothing...Just forget I said it. I said too much." He muttered, sounding defeated.
She sighs, knowing she wouldn't get anything else out of him. But she knew something was bothering him and she would help him. No matter what. "Alright, Max, I won't push anymore, but if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you. You know I always am, right? You're like a little brother to me."
Max finally turns his head to her finally, looking surprised before he smiles a little. "I always thought of you like my sister..." He admitted sheepishly, making Violet smile.
"Good. Because I consider you as family, just like the rest of the gang. Now, cheer up. Maybe a cup of cocoa will help?" She suggests with a hopeful smile, hoping she could cheer him up. "You know I make the best."
Max perks up a bit. "Your famous hot chocolate?"
"The one and only." She grinned.
Max nods. "Alright, you got me."
She giggles. "That's what I thought, come on."
Max sat up and they walked downstairs to the kitchen. Violet was relieved and glad that he was finally moving, even if just a little. She could see that the warmth of the cocoa and her company might start to lift his spirits.
Once in the kitchen, Violet pulled out a couple of mugs and began heating the milk, filling the air with the rich aroma of chocolate. "So, do you want marshmallows or whipped cream?" She asked, glancing over her shoulder at Max, who was leaning against the counter, his expression still a bit distant though he sent her a look.
"You know the answer."
She chuckles and nods. "Right, both." He said 'both' in unison with her, the two sharing a smile as she turned to keep making the drink, making one for herself as well. When she learned how to make hot chocolate, every Christmas she would make it and everyone loved it. She would always put extra marshmallows and whipped cream, the perfect combination.
Violet carefully hands Max a mug, the two settling down at the table. "Well? Still as good as before?" She asked curiously, taking a sip of her own and sighing contently. She loved her hot chocolate, and it tasted even better during the winter time. Though they did live in San Francisco which meant no snow. But still.
"As good as ever." He assured her and she grinned.
"Glad you think so."
When DJ suddenly texted Max to come to the kitchen, he heads to the kitchen with his hot chocolate and Violet follows him curiously. "Got your text. What's up?" Max asked his mom.
"Oh, is that Violet's famous hot cocoa?" DJ noticed, smiling a little and sending Violet a tankful look for managing to cheer Max up a little. Violet shrugged, waving a dismissive hand to let her know it was no big deal as she smiled and took a sip of her drink.
"Obviously." Max replies with a shrug while taking a sip of his cocoa. "But really, what's up?"
"What's up is that it's Christmas Eve, your favorite day of the year and that includes the season premiere of 'Blue Bloods'." DJ replied, frowning at him. Violet chuckled and nodded. Blue Bloods was Max's favorite show and he was always excited about it. So picture his excitement with his favorite show, but triple that.
"I told you. That's old Max." Max responded vaguely.
"Well, I miss old Max. Everyone does. And that is why we are going to do everything we can to get you back into the Christmas spirit, Fuller style. And with the help of Violet, who already started with her famous hot cocoa. Thank you, Vivi." DJ smiled at her as she pulled over the ottoman for Max to sit on and guided him to sit down. Violet smiled and saluted her before she sat down on the couch.
DJ turns off the light and turns a spotlight on while Ramona and Jackson rush out with a Christmas curtain as Christmas music played. "This is gonna be interesting." Violet hummed, amusement shining in her eyes already while she took a sip of her hot cocoa and leaned against the couch.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Fuller Family Holiday Extravangaza." DJ announced, using some bells she had picked up while cheering with Ramona and Jackson. Violet had joined in on the cheer, grinning at the annoyed look Max sent her.
"That's sort of not fair since you know how much I love an extravaganza." Max complained.
"Wait, hold on." Stephanie quickly joined the group, sharing a smile with Violet as she sat by her on the couch. Violet scooted over to make room for her and Kimmy, who followed Stephanie in.
"Lady with a baby coming through." Kimmy remarks. "Let the cavalcade begin."
"Oh, it's an extravaganza." DJ corrected her.
"Yeah, you know Max loves those." Violet chimed in as she took a sip of her drink.
"Ooh, is that your famous hot cocoa?" Stephanie curiously asked, making Violet chuckle and nod.
"You know it. Want me to make you some later?"
"Duh." Stephanie replied in a duh tone, making the two girls laugh.
"Oh, well, then I want my money back." Kimmy frowned.
"First up in our pageant of Christmas cheer-"
"Oh, wait, it's a pageant?" Kimmy interrupts DJ excitedly. "Oh, then keep my money." Violet chuckled, glancing over her mug to look at Kimmy with amusement. Kimmy was always full of energy, and her enthusiasm was often infectious.
Everyone tried their best to cheer Max up. Tommy had went first in the pageant and then Jimmy, who was supposed to sing Jingle Bells, but for some reason he broke a board with his head...Which everyone was still concerned for him and confused why he did that.
"Max, honey, I don't know what's upsetting you, but we're a family and none of us can have a happy Christmas unless you have a happy Christmas. Will you at least help us finish decorating the tree?" DJ asked hopefully, sitting by him and wrapping her arm around him.
"Sure." Max sighed. He got up and set his mug on the coffee table along with Violet, who joined him and the others with getting ornaments to put on the tree. But just as Max went to put an ornament on the tree, it fell and shattered to pieces. Volet frowned as Max's face fell before he turned to run up the stairs.
Realization crosses DJ face after recognizing what the broken ornament had been. "I know what this is about."
****
Violet was happy and relieved to see Max was better now with DJ's help after they had talked. Everyone was gathered in the living room, watching home movies of DJ, the boys, and Tommy. DJ had found out the reason Max had been so upset was because he had been thinking about his dad, who had passed. He had been missing his dad a lot more lately and with the holiday season in full swing, those feelings were weighing heavily on him. It made sense; the holidays were often a time for families to spend together and celebrate, so not having his father there was hard.
As they watched the old home movies, Violet could see the transformation in Max. The earlier tension in his shoulders began to ease, replaced by the warmth of nostalgia. Violet sat beside Jackson on the couch, her hand intertwined with his. She smiled while glancing over at him, seeing him wrap his arm around Max to comfort his little brother.
"I miss dad, too." Jackson admitted.
"I miss when you knew how to frame a shot." Max retorted since in the home video they were watching, a little Jackson was holding the camera.
Violet chuckles along with Jackson and the others. "There's the Max we love." DJ smiled, rubbing Max's shoulder as he smiled.
Suddenly, Kimmy left the room in a rush, concerning everyone. "Mom, are you alright?" Ramona called out worriedly.
"It must be the hormones. I'm feeling it too!" Fernando cried out before he ran out of the room.
"Feeling better, Max?" DJ asked softly.
"I am." Max admits, smiling at the home video. "Man, was I cute."
Kimmy walks into the room, surprising and confusing everyone when she comes back holding gifts. "Kimmy, what's going on?" DJ asked.
"You know in the video when Tommy Sr. took the phone call and...None of you could hear it? Well, I could with my Gibbler hearing. Tommy wanted to give his kids the best Christmas ever. He even bought these special presents and hid them here at Danny's house." Kimmy explained.
"I had no idea." DJ said in surprise, carefully setting Tommy down as she stood since he had been sitting on her lap.
"They were in that weird cabinet above the washer." Kimmy adds. "It's a Christmas miracle."
Stephanie looks at her with confusion. "Wait, we have a washer?"
Kimmy hands out the gifts and DJ kneels in front of Tommy, helping him open it. "Tommy, it's just like the one I broke. Be careful, little man!" Max warned, looking relieved when he saw the same firetruck helmet ornament that had been Tommy's gift. Tommy smiled and placed it back in the box carefully.
"Wow, a Wii U!" Jackson says in awe after opening his gift. "That's exactly what I wanted when they still made them."
"It's a watch." Max reveals, his voice cracking while tears stung his eyes after he opens his gift. "It's just like the one dad used to wear. It's perfect."
Violet smiles, glad to see him better now. "Well, since I'm passing out Christmas miracles...He left one for you too." Kimmy announced, showing what she had been hiding behind her back and handed a small black box to her.
Surprise flickers across DJ's face, tears still brimming her eyes. "'Merry Christmas, my beloved wife. All I ever wanted is for you to be happy each and every day. Love, Tommy.'" She opens it and she couldn't stop the tears from coming. "It's so ugly. Oh, he always had such awful taste. I love it."
"Thanks, mom." Max smiles at her. "Maybe I'm not too immature for the holidays."
DJ smiles fondly and pulls him in for a side hug. "Welcome back, Mr. Christmas."
****
That evening tables were set up in the living room for them to eat dinner. Violet sat by Jackson, of course. Everyone was talking and laughing, enjoying their Christmas dinner together. DJ stood, holding her glass as she smiled.
"Okay, well, normally on Christmas Eve, my dad would be up here giving some long-winded speech about an obscure relative we've never heard of or met. So if he asks, just tell him I did that."
"Hear, hear!" Everyone chorused and clinked their glasses together.
"Good story." Jimmy commented.
"But I do wanna say how truly grateful I am that we're all able to spend the holiday together. We are truly blessed." DJ continued as Tommy suddenly got out of his chair and went to the door leading to the kitchen when jingle bells are heard.
"Santa. Santa."
"Oh, no. I hope we didn't miss another Santa." DJ worriedly muttered as she put her glass down and went to go after Tommy.
Joey comes in, dressed as Santa Claus while doing the famous Santa laugh and holding Tommy's hand. "Merry Christmas!"
Jimmy stands, staring at him with disbelief and excitement. "It's Santa!"
Joey looks at him weirdly. Everyone then greets him and stands up to walk over to him. Jimmy turns sheepish when he realized who it was. "Oh, yeah, Joey, right. Of course, it's Joey."
"Awe, Tommy, you're not afraid of Santa anymore." DJ smiled, kneeling in front of her youngest son and holding his hands.
"I love Santa Joey." Tommy admitted and DJ awed.
"Joey, what are you doing here?" Stephanie asked.
"Well, a couple of Santa's elves named Violet, Jackson, and Ramona texted me and said that someone here was afraid of Old Saint Nick. So I hopped in my sleigh and flew right over. Luckily, I was already wearing my Santa suit. Ginger has a 'thing'." Joey explained.
"Great, we were about to have Christmas Eve dinner." DJ told him.
"Well, you know me. I'm never one to turn down a free turkey leg. Oh, look, there's one right there." Joey's face lit up and he walked over to the table the food was set up on. Everyone chuckled and sat back down at the tables.
"As I was saying...Christmas is one of the most holy and sacred days of the year..." DJ pauses again when her phone rings. She sighs. "Who's phone is that?" She grimaces. "Oh, that's mine." She rushes over to answer the call. "Steve, hi. Oh, I miss you so much!"
"Me too. There's so much I want to say to you." Steve admitted.
"Yeah, like what?" DJ asked curiously.
Violet couldn't hold the gasp in when she noticed Steve sneaking into the room from the back door from the kitchen. Awe, he had showed up after all to surprise her. That's so sweet. "Like, I'm standing right behind you." Steve pointed out.
DJ cringes. "That's not that romantic."
"Oh, no, I'm actually standing right behind you." Steve informed her which startled her.
"What? Wait, what are you doing h-" She does a double take before finally hugging Steve. "Wait, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with the Lakers? Aren't they playing right now?"
"I quit. Kind of. If Magic Johnson calls, don't tell him I'm here." Steve replied.
DJ frowns. "You quit? But that's your dream job."
"Yeah, but I have dreams that are more important than that." Steve confesses, causing everyone to 'awe'. "Look, Deej, we've been waiting twenty-five years. We owe it to ourselves once and for all to just see how we are as a couple."
This time only Joey 'awed'. He furrows his eyebrows. "Oh, we're not doing that anymore?" Violet chuckled and reached over to pat his shoulder to comfort him. She smiled at watching DJ and Steve share a sweet kiss in front of the decorated tree. She was happy that they were together now and hopefully it worked out for them.
"Awe, I knew this was gonna be a great Christmas. Come on, everybody, let's eat!" DJ called out as she and Steve went to sit down.
"Oh!" Kimmy suddenly exclaims, standing up with wide eyes. "Does anyone hear that?" She smiles sheepishly. "Oh, wait. Only I can."
"I hear it." Fernando chimes in. He looks confused, leaning in to whisper to Kimmy. "What do I hear?"
"It's snowing in San Francisco!"
At that announcement, everyone was in disbelief. It had snowed in San Francisco, on Christmas. They rushed outside and were all surprised to see it was indeed snowing. The snow fell down around them, creating the perfect winter wonderland scene. Violet smiled, reaching her hands up and catching the snowflakes. She doesn't remember the last time she saw snow. It had to have been awhile. She felt a rush of joy as the soft, white flakes landed on her hands and melted, leaving behind a chilly warmth that filled her with nostalgia. The sight of snow transformed the familiar landscape into a magical winter wonderland, complete with sparkling lights reflecting off the pristine white cover.
There wasn't much snow on the ground yet, but the flakes were beginning to accumulate, dusting the porch and surrounding garden with a delicate layer of white. As Violet stepped further into the snow, she felt a sense of freedom and delight, as if she were a child again. She glanced around at her family, their laughter echoing through the chilly air, and she couldn't help but smile. She looked over at Jackson, who was hugging his little brothers before his brothers went to play in the snow. When their eyes met, his expression was warm and affectionate.
"Having fun?"
"I didn't think I'd get to experience snow this year." Violet admitted, shrugging with a soft smile.
"Neither did I, but we got lucky." Jackson stands in front of her, his hands reaching up to cup her face. "Merry Christmas, Violet."
"Merry Christmas, Jackson." Violet leaned forward and kissed him, her hands coming up to hold onto his arms as she melted against him. The kiss was gentle and full of love, the perfect ending to a wonderful night.
After they broke apart, they stayed wrapped in each other's arms, enjoying the moment. The snow continued to fall around them, and the world seemed to slow down. All that mattered was that they were together, sharing this special moment. As Violet leaned into Jackson and they continued to watch the snow fall, she couldn't help but think that this was definitely the best Christmas she had ever had.
