CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT, here comes the sun

(violet's & jackson's matching costumes for the party)

The next day the fog finally cleared which meant the weather would be good for the party that night. Jesse bought the Smash Club again and was doing a reopening tonight with his friends and family. Violet had talked to him and asked if she could sing at the party and he was completely fine with it, letting her know if she needed help with anything just to ask him. She was happy and excited.

But she was also very nervous. She knew she already sang in front of the whole school and that went well, but this will be her second time singing on stage in front of people. And while it will just be her boyfriend and friends, she was still nervous and worried that something could go wrong. What if she messed up? Or what if her voice didn't come out right or something?

But before she could panic, her thoughts were interrupted by Jackson's voice as he walked into her room. She was in her room next door, practicing on the song she was going to preform tonight. She smiled at him, a little confused at the sudden visit since she didn't realize how late it was. "Hey, you. What are you doing here?"

Jackson smiles, shutting the door and walking over to her. He leans in and kisses her. She hummed, kissing him back. She had a feeling this was his way of telling her he was going to keep her calm and she was grateful. Jackson had always been good at calming her down. And it definitely worked, because she relaxed and leaned into his kiss. He pulled away after a moment, grinning.

"You're going to be amazing tonight." He tells her, gently caressing her cheek. "You have no reason to be nervous. You're amazing. And you're gonna be amazing tonight." He cupped her face with both hands and kissed her again, taking her breath away.

Her face turns red while butterflies filled her stomach, her heart skipping a beat. She kissed him back eagerly, her arms reaching up to wrap around his neck. Jackson moved to sit next to her on her bed, still kissing her.

Jackson had a feeling she'd be nervous about singing again so he came by to help calm her down and assure her she'd be amazing. He wanted her to feel confident in herself. And he also wanted to let her know he believed in her and supported her. He pulled away and grinned when he saw her blushing and smiling. His heart skipped a beat, he still couldn't get over the fact he was the one making her blush and smile.

"Thank you, baby." She mumbled, leaning her head on his shoulder, feeling a wave of warmth wash over her. Jackson always knew exactly what to say to make her feel better, and in moments like these, she was reminded of how lucky she was to have him by her side.

"Of course, sweetheart." He murmurs, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and pulling her closer. "I know how much this means to you, but I also know you're going to kill it out there. Just trust yourself, okay? Because you're going to do great and I know you're going to wow everyone."

Violet nods, feeling her anxiety slowly fade as she leaned into him. "It's just...A lot of pressure, you know? But having you here makes me feel better."

Jackson kisses the top of her head. "I'll be cheering you on the whole time. You're going to blow everyone away."

Violet smiles softly, her nerves calming as she held onto his words. "I guess I just need to focus on having fun."

"Exactly," Jackson agrees. "And hey, if you feel nervous, just look at me. I'll be the loudest cheering you on in front of the stage." He grins, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "You know I'm your biggest fan."

Violet couldn't help but laugh softly at his enthusiasm. "You always know how to make me feel better."

"I'll always be here to remind you." He smiles, lifting her hand to kiss the back of her knuckles. "Because I know you're amazing and you're going to do great. Now, how about I take you out for some lunch and then we can get ready for the party later?"

"Okay," Violet nods, her face flushing as her stomach flutters. She can't believe she's lucky enough to have him in her life. "Just let me put my shoes on and I'll be ready to go."

"Sounds good." Jackson smiles, letting her go so she can get ready. He pauses, noticing her open notebook on the song she was practicing. "Ooh, is that the song you're singing tonight?" He asked, reaching for it, pouting when she playfully smacked his hand.

"You'll find out later, baby." She teases, putting her shoes on and then closing the notebook before putting the notebook back on her desk. "Now let's go. I'm craving pizza, how about you?"

"Always down for pizza." He grinned, standing and taking her hand, leading her out of her room.

She grinned and followed him out of the room, her worries forgotten and her nerves now gone. Jackson knew exactly how to make her feel better, and she couldn't have been more grateful he was there for her.

Violet and Jackson had a great time at a local pizza place, enjoying some pizza and sodas while spending time together and just having fun. Jackson had made her feel much more confident and relaxed, and she was actually excited for the party now. She had the perfect outfit for tonight too. The party was an eighties themed party and Violet was excited about it, having an idea for a good outfit. She and Jackson decided to do a matching couples outfit from one of their favorite movies Top Gun they loved to watch. She was dressing as Charlie while he was dressed as Maverick.

They all arrived at the Smash Club, all dressed up as icons or characters from the eighties. Jesse stops by the door before letting everyone in. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dogs and babies, may I present, the Smash Club."

Violet grew confused when she noticed a bright neon sign on the wall reading 'Laundry drop off service'. Did this place get turned into a laundry mat?

"Man, you tell this family to dress up and they don't mess around." Joey commented.

"Well, is the Smash Ckub still radical or what?" Jesse smirked.

"At the risk of bursting your bubble, this is a laundry mat." Becky told him.

"Yeah, I know that. It is now, but Joey and I are gonna restore it to its former glory." Jesse explained.

Becky raises her eyebrows. "Wouldn't it have been easier to buy a nightclub and rename it?"

"No, it wouldn't have been easier, huh, because it's too late. We paid cash."

Violet chuckled at Jesse's sassy remark and turned to walk off to the side, taking a deep breath and trying to calm her nerves. She knew she was going to be performing soon, and while she was less nervous thanks to Jackson, she was still a little anxious.

Jackson joins her when he noticed she left, giving her hand a comforting squeeze. "You're gonna be great, sweetheart. Just breathe, okay? And have fun. It's all about having fun and showing everyone your talent." He reminded her.

"Right," Violet nods, letting out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. "Just breathe. Have fun. Seems so easy." She muttered, leaning her head on his chest.

He chuckles, rubbing her back comfortingly. "Hey, it's okay. You'll do great."

"I hope so." She mumbled, closing her eyes and focusing on his heartbeat. It was soothing and comforting. She didn't understand how he was always so calm and confident, but she appreciated it and was grateful. He was her rock and she didn't know what she'd do without him.

"Hey, Violet. You ready for this?" Jesse asks as he walked over to her with concern. "You can always back out if you're not comfortable."

"No, no. I want to. It's just...I'm still a little nervous." She admitted.

"It's okay to be nervous. It shows that you care about what you're doing. But don't worry, you're gonna be great. Besides I heard you sang in front of the whole school before. This will be a piece of cake." He assured her.

"Thanks, Jesse." Violet smiled. She appreciated his kindness and his attempt at trying to help calm her nerves. Jesse had been a musician for many years so she was sure he had his own experiences with being nervous and having anxiety before performing. It meant a lot to her that he cared and wanted her to feel at ease.

"No problem." Jesse smiles, nodding at her. "Alright, so I got the Rippers to agree to be your band and gave them a run through of your song."

"Really? Your old band mates are here?" She asked with surprise, glancing over to where the four older men were doing their laundry.

Jesse shrugs. "It's laundry night, apparently." He smiled at her, patting her shoulder before walking away.

Violet was glad she wouldn't be the only one on stage and it meant a lot to her that Jesse and his old band were gonna be her band for tonight. She just hoped she wouldn't mess up or anything.

Jackson pulls her in for a hug after noticing her nervous expression. "Stop worrying. You're gonna do great. I promise. I'll be watching you the whole time and cheering you on."

"Thanks, babe." She whispered, closing her eyes and hugging him tight. He always knew what to say to her, and she was beyond grateful. He made her feel calm and confident, and she wouldn't have gotten this far without him.

"Alright, folks, it's time for a little bit of music!" Jesse calls out, now on stage with his old band. "And let's welcome our very own Violet Sullivan!"

Everyone cheers loudly as the music starts, Violet taking a deep breath and trying to steady her breathing as she slowly walks on stage. She takes a deep breath, her nerves calming when she meets Jackson's gaze. He smiled brightly, cheering and whooping loudly for her. She could hear everyone else cheering her on too, which only helped boost her confidence.

"Hey, everyone. So, since my original gig got canceled because of the fog yesterday, I asked Jesse if I could sing tonight. Which I'm glad and kinda regretting he agreed." Violet admits with a nervous smile as chuckles filled the air. "But anyway, this is a new song I've been working on. It's called Tomorrow Starts Today and its about how even though bad things happen in life, so do good things. It's about not giving up and being there for people throughout the journey. This is for all of you guys who have been there for me and helped me when times were tough. Thank you." She thanked, looking over at her friends and smiling.

The music started, and everyone cheered as she started singing, her voice filling the room. She was nervous and scared at first, her hands gripping the microphone, but then she met Jackson's eyes again and her fears faded. His encouraging smile was all she needed. She smiled, her confidence growing as she continued singing.

Jackson smiled, his heart fluttering. He was proud of her and he loved seeing her like this. He was her biggest fan and always would be. He didn't understand how he was lucky enough to have her in his life, but he was so grateful he did.

Violet couldn't help but think about their earlier conversation. She didn't know why she was so worried and anxious before. She knew her friends would be there to support her, no matter what. Everyone was loving her song and dancing to it, which only encouraged her to keep singing and keep the mood going. She had to admit, this was really fun. And it felt amazing singing in front of people like this. It was an experience she'll never forget.

She had been worried about the band too since they didn't have time to rehearse and was happy and relieved they sounded great preforming the first time. Everyone was really liking the song and the energy in the room. It was an amazing experience.

Once she was done singing, everyone was cheering loudly, her boyfriend and friends shouting and whooping. Her face flushed, she grinned as she bowed. "Thank you guys, you all mean the world to me. And then you too Jesse and the Rippers, for backing me up tonight. I really appreciate it." She said after turning to Jesse and his old band mates with a thankful smile. They all smiled reassuringly and assured her it was no problem. She stepped off the stage, relieved and a little proud of herself. She couldn't believe she actually did it.

Jackson was grinning, his eyes filled with pride and love. "That was amazing, baby." He hugs her, kissing her temple. "I knew you'd do great."

"Thanks, baby. I couldn't have done it without you." She murmured, hugging him tight.

"Oh, please. You're an amazing singer. You had everyone hooked the whole time. You did this. Not me." He assured her.

She blushes, her stomach fluttering. He was the sweetest and she was so lucky. "Thank you."

"Anytime, sweetheart." He smiles, pulling away from the hug to peck her lips. "Now, how about we get some snacks?"

"Ooh, definitely." Violet nodded, smiling as she followed him over to where the snacks are. As they did this, Jesse and his old band mates sung a song for everyone. Everyone danced and laughed, the room filled with joy and music. Violet couldn't help but smile as she watched everyone enjoy the night. It was moments like this that made her grateful for the support of her friends and especially Jackson. He always knew how to calm her nerves and make her feel like she could conquer anything.

As they reached the snack table, Jackson grabbed a couple of drinks, handing one to Violet. "To your amazing performance." He said, raising his cup.

Violet giggles and clinks her cup against his. "To a night I'll never forget," she replied, her eyes sparkling with happiness. He smiled fondly at her, leaning over to smiled into the kiss, feeling a rush of warmth. It was a perfect moment, one she'd treasure forever. The nerves, the fear, the excitement—it had all led to this, and now she could bask in the joy of her achievement.

As they pulled away, Violet noticed their friends waving them over to join the dancing. "Come on, let's go have some fun!" She said, grabbing Jackson's hand and pulling him toward the dance floor.

Jackson laughs, letting himself be dragged along. "I'm right behind you, superstar."

They danced together, surrounded by the energy of the crowd and the music, lost in the moment. Violet felt like she was on top of the world, knowing she had conquered her fears and put on a performance she could be proud of. And best of all, she had the people she loved most by her side to share in her success.

As the night went on, she couldn't help but think about how far she'd come. From the nervous girl who almost backed out of performing to the confident singer on stage, it felt like a turning point in her life. She knew there were more challenges ahead, but tonight, she felt unstoppable.

Eventually DJ and Stephanie got up and said some words to Danny, Jesse, and Joey as a thank you for taking care of them and for all they did. It was their thirty year anniversary of Jesse and Joey moving in to help Danny raise DJ, Stephanie, and their younger sister Michelle. Then came a round of admissions, starting off with Jesse and Becky, who confessed they were moving back to San Francisco. Joey added he was moving back with his family which no one was thrilled about since his kids were nightmares. Danny decided he was going to move back in as well since he didn't want to be left out. He even said he might as well move back in his old house which DJ and Stephanie were reluctant about.

Stephanie then admitted that she wrote a song that was technically for her uncle, dad, and Joey, but confessed it applied to them all. It was about how they all brought her luck. Violet smiled fondly as the song started. She felt lucky and honored that she had been part of such a special night. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and love, and Violet couldn't help but feel grateful for the people around her. Watching DJ, Stephanie, Jesse, and the others share heartfelt moments reminded her of the importance of family and support—something she cherished deeply.

Jackson squeezes her hand as they continued to watch the emotional reunion unfold. "You okay, Vi?" He asked softly, noticing the faraway look in her eyes.

Violet nods, smiling at him. "Yeah, Jax. I just... feel really lucky, you know? I have amazing friends, a supportive boyfriend, and tonight was incredible."

He smiles, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "You deserve it, Violet. All of it. You worked hard and you conquered your fears. I'm proud of you."

Her heart swelled at his words, and she leans in to kiss him gently. "I couldn't have done it without you, Jackson. Thank you for always believing in me."

"Always, babe." He murmured against her lips before they pulled away to rejoin their friends.

As the evening carried on, filled with laughter, music, and dancing, Violet felt a sense of peace wash over her. She realized that this night, surrounded by the people she loved, marked the beginning of a new chapter—one where she embraced her talents, faced her fears, and stepped into the spotlight with confidence.
