"-shut up, dumbass," Katsuki playfully snorted, elbowing Izuku in the ribs lightly and earning a beautiful giggle from the other. "You're lying. See?" He proceeded to prod his calloused, rough hands over Izuku's bare chest, savoring the blush and the solid feel of his muscles.
"Kacchan! You're so touchy!" Izuku reprimanded him half-heartedly, but not even making a move to shake the touch off. "But I swear, I can't hit that hard. I know I work out a lot, but I never really.."
"Hit someone?"
"N-no.! I mean, yes- but I never really tried a punching bag out before. Just squats, crunches, sit-ups.." The nerd trailed off, uncertainty lingering in his voice, with Katsuki humming and leaning on his shoulder, pulling the blankets up to their waists.
They've decided to crash in bed a bit early, since both of them were fatigued. They had to get some rest, or else their eye bags and drowsiness may affect future shoots (which makes them both considerably thankful that makeup exists).
But..
"Oi, nerd, remember are conversation earlier?"
Izuku tensed, shoulders hunching as he ducked out of instinct. Katsuki frowned at the clammy behavior, the space between his eyebrows creasing. "Deku.." he said, giving his shoulder a firm squeeze. "We can't avoid this shit, ya know. Come on-" he readjusted himself, squirming our of the comfortable position to lay on his side facing Izuku instead. "-talk to me."
A silence lingered between them, before a weak chuckle slipped from Izuku's lips, who looked at him with a sheepish expression. "I was.. Hoping you've forgotten about it." Bakugou almost snapped at that- before he realized how soft his voice was. Izuku took the quiet response as a cue to follow up.
"I don't want my mom- even you, to worry. Or anyone, in that matter." He says, sinking into the comfort of his pillows. "I could take care of myself. I swear! Ever since I was a kid I was treated at school like some kind of stupid, breakable object because I was-!" He clamps his mouth shut quickly, interrupting himself.
Katsuki ghosted his lips over his shoulder, trying to gently coax him to finish. "Because you were what, nerd?" He tried to build a bridge from his question to Izuku's answer, but all he received was a stubborn huff. Katsuki felt his irritation flare up- but the emotion vanished when Izuku sniffled lightly, head down.
"Oi, Oi," Katsuki nervously called to the now borderline sobbing man near him. He was never good with comprehending emotions- his little amount of human interaction limited him in doing so (That is if you call journalists and fans always trying to get into his personal space- then yes, he has a lot of human interaction then).
"I used to be so helpless Kacchan," he muttered wryly, a wet sniffle following him. "I used to be a charity case. You know. Where famous people like you drop your money. It goes to me, my mom- god, we used to barely have enough, and we only managed to scrape enough scraps together to buy a dingy apartment only as big as a small children's bedroom."
"My stupid dad left me and my mom to shit, Kacchan. And you know what? I spent twenty-one good birthdays without him. Twenty-one birthdays and not even a single card and I..! I swear. I'll be a better father, you know. When I grow up, I'll have some great kids. I'll be there, beside them! I won't be like him."
Katsuki softened, heart weighed down by an invisible heavy weight. He was bearing such a burden and yet..
"I got here, Kacchan. I became famous. I earn enough money for me and my mom- without him! I didn't need him! I never needed him! I became successful without him!"
"Yeah, Deku-"
"I learned how to make friends without him- hell, I even have you here! When I have children, I'll raise them real good, because I don't need a deadbeat, sorry excuse of a father to give me advice!
To HELL with him!"
Izuku was now a sobbing, shaking mess of furious tears, eyes scrunched up- and Katsuki simply placed chaste, light kisses on his jaw, ignoring the salty drops of tears flowing like a waterfall. He shuddered once, breath hitching as his sobbing softened, the angry exterior breaking away and shattering into dust, leaving a broken mess in it's wake.
Izuku seemed to slump in defeat.
"Why didn't he want me, Kacchan?"
————
A couple minutes have went by, slow and agonizing, ending up with Izuku and Katsuki hugging each other tightly- craving warmth from each other. Izuku had stopped shaking, his breath tickling Katsuki's ear, and the smell of light honey melted him into a boneless puddle.
"Love you, Kacchan."
"Shut the fuck up, dumbass."
Izuku snorted half-heartedly, the tinkling sound of him giggling made Katsuki smile against his forehead, rough hands clutching around his waist. "... Sorry about that, by the way. The day was already kinda bad and I just broke down-"
"Do I need to repeat myself, You dense idiot? Shut the fuck up." Katsuki's kissed his forehead, making them both blush at the intimate gesture, and it effectively made Izuku snicker and bury his face into the dip of Katsuki's chest, both of them snuggled deep in the layers of blankets.
After the confession, Katsuki knows that Deku probably feels lighter now. Good. He was quiet the opposite- since he made the decision that if he ever sees Izuku's stupid-ass father, he would punch his teeth in the moment they come in contact.
He threaded and carded through Izuku's hair, receiving an appreciative hum from the latter, whose form significantly relaxed in his old. He trusted Katsuki..
"... You're not a deadweight," Katsuki hummed.
".. Um-"
"Your problems are significant too, you know."
"Kacchan-"
"You climbed your way to the top, and you've been from hell and back. You're strong, idiot."
"Is this.. A way that you're trying to comfort me, Kacchan..?"
Bakugou's cheeks reddened in embarrassment at the humorous and tentative question. "Fuck- be grateful, shitty nerd! I'm trying-"
"I know."
Izuku said, his smile light, simple and sincere, lifting his chin up to look into Katsuki's eyes, finding the crimson orbs to be calming in contrast to everything he's feeling. Well, he had certainly exhausted his emotions a while ago, and his eyelids drooped in a sleepy manner.
He yawned, laying his head on his chest again, and Katsuki didn't hesitate to bundle them both up again. Katsuki looked at the man, now passed out in his arms, and he decides that moments like these have him absolutely floored.
"... Love you too, dumbass."
—————
"Dabi-nii! Are you ready!?"
"Yeah, Yeah. So- what? We're gonna sneak up to the highest floor and take the green guy?"
He hummed, brandishing a flame thrower. The blonde next to him giggled and clapped her hands in sick enthusiasm. "Yeah!"
"Then what?"
Toga slipped her knife, a canines peeking out from her upper lip. Finally...
"We kill him!"
