Chapter Twenty-One
*Your P.O.V.*
Bard set the plate with the Young Master's appetizer on it. I made sure to keep my balance as I gracefully excited the kitchen.
"Good evening, Young Master," I politely said in a quiet voice as I approached him.
He gave me a simple nod in responds.
I slowly set the plate with his basil soup on the table and removed the covering before I quietly returned to the kitchen.
Mey-Rin instantly rushed to me, "How did it go?"
"Fine? I think?" I questioned.
"Did he say anything?" Finny questioned.
"He nodded, dismissing me," I replied, still nervous by all of their reactions.
"In about ten more minutes, you'll have to bring out the main dish," Bard instructed.
"Oooo, what are we having tonight?" Finny asked, obviously excited.
"Meatloaf," Bard replied.
"Don't be nervous. The Young Master isn't cruel. I feel that he's only toying with you," Mey-Rin said, trying to be supportive.
"He is a sadistic bastard," Bard commented.
I knew that they were just trying to make me feel better, but I didn't feel much better. Their situations were a lot different than mine. They were at least all human.
I felt someone take my hand, and I looked to see those big blue turquoise eyes.
"You're going to do great tonight, (Y/N). It's all going to work out," he cheerfully said.
I couldn't help but smile back at him. He had such a contagious positive energy about him.
"Okay, the main course is ready to go," Bard stated.
I waited for Bard to place the meal on the tray, and again, carefully walked back into the dining room. The Young Master and Sebastian sat at the opposite end of the room. I glanced at the two of them but made sure to keep my head down, so he did not think I was trying to disrespect him in anyway.
I felt silly looking so vulnerable to such a young boy, let alone a mortal, but at this point, this place was my best option. I either got Ciel's approval and got to stay with this little weird family they created, or I went back with the angels where it is clear that I am not welcome. I couldn't imagine facing them, knowing that I failed the mission they wiped my memory clean for.
I carefully switched the soup bowl with the main course before I exited back into the kitchen.
"Did he say anything that time?" Finny instantly asked me when I re-entered the kitchen.
Mey-Rin and Bard both looked with a curiosity as well. It seemed that none of them wanted to me to leave. Unfortunately, none of us could really do anything about it. I just wondered how he would do it. I'm sure Sebastian would be the one to take me out/
"Not a word," I sadly smiled to them.
"I mean there is still dessert...maybe, we'll find out then," Finny optimistically said.
I gave him a weak smile, in which his bright eyes shined, and he returned with a large grin.
I couldn't help but feel my smile naturally grow larger as I admired him
What a pure, just beautiful soul...
"(Y/N)!" Bard, practically shouted, bringing back to reality.
I must have been staring off into space for a while, as it was already time for the dessert. I brought my tray over to Bard, and he placed a piece of red velvet cake onto the tray and covered it. I then gracefully went into the dinning room to give the Young Master his final portion of his meal for the night.
I went into the dinning room avoiding all eye contact. For a second, I locked eyes with Sebastian's deep red eyes, and I could feel the death in his soul. I quickly looked away, going back to my task at hand. I quickly switched the trays out and made my way back to the kitchen. However, just before I exited, the Young Master finally spoke.
"(Y/N) ...you did a tolerable job tonight, and I've made my final decision that for the time being, you may continue to serve in the Phantomhive Manor," Ciel clearly stated.
I couldn't help but feel a smile form on my face, but before I could even thank him, the other three came out from the kitchen and engulfed me in a hug.
"(Y/N)! You get to stay!" Finny cheered, squeezing his bright turquoise eyes shut with happiness.
"Man, you almost had us worried there," Bard commented.
"I'm so glad," Mey-Rin smiled to me.
"Yes, yes, you'll have plenty of time to be happy about her stay, but you four still have work to do before the night is over," the Young Master stated. "Now, get this meal cleaned up."
"Yes, Young Master," we all instantly said.
I could help but glance to Finny, who's gaze had fallen onto me as well. We both held a smile as the four of us started to clear the supper table.
