Chapter One
*Finnian's P.O.V.*
"Finnian, it has been brought to my attention this morning, while I was walking through the gardens, that there seems to be a few that have been picked. Not snipped- but pulled from my garden. Do you have any idea why it looks this way?" Ciel interrogated.
I honestly hadn't even been to the back garden yet today. I started at the front gate and planned to make my way back. They had brought me in here not even an hour into working, so this was news to me, upsetting news- I had let the master down.
"N-no sir!" I quickly replied shaking my head.
"You mean to tell me there is some lurker going around to pick my flowers?" Ciel barked.
"N-no sir! I'm not sure what happened, but I'll be out there to fix it right away!" I instantly replied.
"Master, if you don't mind me saying, Finny seems a little confused with the news. Perhaps, we should let him see the damages at least. He knows more about the garden than either of us," Sebastian suggested.
Ciel frowned at him but said, "Very well, let's go take a look."
Ciel got up, and Sebastian and I followed him out to the back gardens. It wasn't that I didn't believe my young master, but I was in shock to see that my rose bushes, tulips, and crocus had been torn apart.
"There believe me now?" Ciel barked.
"Oh, Young Master! I-I didn't k-know. Please forgive me!" I instantly begged, knowing that I had let him down.
"I just don't understand how you could be—"
"Now, young master," Sebastian interrupted. "There is no way Finny could've known. There is no need to punish him. Might I suggest you let him even out the garden, and I keep watch at night?"
I felt my heart beats slow down. Mister Sebastian is always too kind to us.
"I suppose I'll allow it, but if it is to happen again, it will fall on you Sebastian," Ciel said.
"I understand, my Lord," Sebastian complied.
"Finny, get to fixing these flowers right away," Ciel commanded.
"Yes, sir!" I replied.
The two walked back into the manor as I went to get my clippers to polish off the rose bushes. Although the young master let me off the hook, I couldn't help but be irritated that someone had come and ruined them like this. I spend all day working on these gardens.
"Oh well..." I grumbled, getting to work.
