Requiem my ass PT. 2 (Overhaul X Sibling Reader)

Make believe were for dreamers... But there's nothing wrong with it, dreaming is nice... But you prefer to stay in reality. Because no matter what you do, even your dreams were ruinous.

Your relationship with Kai wasn't the best. There were times he would yell at you, telling you that you were nothing but a nuisance, a waste of space, a big mistake, one of those disease carriers... That without him, you wouldn't have survived. That you're useless without him. Keep in mind that you were only five and he was seven at that time. And hearing those from him mutated your mind into a perfect, submissive little doll. Always following brother's examples, you strived to be like him. That was a big mistake.

You did everything to just gain his approval and affection, but all he did was to lower your esteem and gave you inferiority complex. Some brother he is. And from a real young age, you learned to cope with pain. At five years old, you experienced this fiery inferno while you lived with him. All you wanted was to be loved by him, to gain his approval... But was that too much to ask?

A simple, "Thank you, sister/brother," or maybe a, "Good job," would be enough. But no, all you got were heart shattering words dripping with venom to the point where you contemplated suicide. With excessive harsh judgement, you accepted yourself as this waste of space.

Was he aware of what he was doing to you? The scars he left in your heart? The tear jerking words he says that branded itself in your memories as those said memories were on loop 24/7? The pain he had caused you and shaped you into this person you are now?

The worst part is, he doesn't seem to notice the fact of what he has done to your being. Maybe he knows what's he's doing, maybe not. Which is both worse. Some brother he is.

"Chisaki Y/N?" A knock erupted from your door. Looking up, you saw the boys who had the courage to fight Chisaki. Your heart dropped in your stomach at the mere mention of your last name... You no longer wanted to be ever associated with your brother.

"Just... Call me Y/N," you sighed, as you leaned you head on your pillow. Your body still felt numb from all the fighting that happened. Both boys glanced at each other, with an apologetic look. You sat up and leaned by your bed frame.

"Y-you can come in, it's alright," you gestured them, as they shyly shuffled towards your bed and sat on mono blocks. "So... Uh, I never caught your names," you shyly acknowledged.

"Togata Mirio, nice to meet you Chi-uh, Y/N-chan!" Mirio cheerfully gleamed, with a bright smile. "Hero name Lemillion."

"O-oh, Midoriya Izuku, hero name Deku," the green haired male chimed in. "Y-you're Overhaul's sibling?" Your smile dropped to a frown, as he became visibly upset to the drastic change of your mood.

"I-I'm sorry, that was rude of me to-"

"Nonononono, it's okay- I know I can't change my past," As much as you want to, you can't escape it. "You both did a great job out there. Thank you for stopping... Thank you for stopping my-my br-... my brother," no matter what you can do, you can't seem to refer to him as your brother.

"We were just doing what was needed to do," Mirio smiled. Your smile widened as you remembered.

"So you're the one who sent me flowers?" You asked, as you attempted to scoot over, but failed. "Yellow roses are usually associated with new beginnings... Friendships... I appreciate it, thanks." you smiled, as a red started to spread from his cheeks.

"I-uh, Izuku helped me to chose," Mirio shyly proclaimed, rubbing the back of his neck with a shy smile. Your smile dropped. "Whatever is the matter?" He asked, as he noticed the sudden shift of your mood.

"I-I'm sorry what happened to your quirk," you put your hand atop his with an apologetic smile. "I'm sure we'll find a way to return it," you gleamed.

"It's alright, Y/N. One's quirk doesn't define their heroic deeds," Mirio warmly smiled back. "So what are you interests, Y/N-chan?" Your eyes lit up in pure joy.

"Oh, I like books and this book I'm reading is really interesting! It's about the end of the world and an angel and a demon are both tasked to save the world! And let me tell you how I ship those two......."

It's been a few hours after Izuku and Mirio left. To be frank, you can't remember a time where you were genuinely happy and comfortable around people when you're talking about your interests. You talked about your favourite book, your hobbies, your interests without being judged.

Unlike your so-called family. Hari wasn't bad, to be honest, but there were times he would be like your brother. Mimic was always nagging you. The others, you didn't mind, and they did the same to you. Occasional small talks here and there, but nothing more. But whenever you express yourself, they would say such words that just lower your esteem.

It was already midnight, visiting hours were over, but you still couldn't bring yourself to fall asleep. Sighing, you rested your head on the bed frame as you sat up to retrieve the mirror by your beside table. Grasping the cold handle of the mirror, you took a look at your appearance. The golden gaze that Kai has behold your reflection. It was the only feature that you shared. His golden gaze that can be unpredictable. A golden gaze that hunger for power and chaos. The golden gaze that mutated you into this helpless, vulnerable, gullible person.

The bandage around your head that Hari caused was still present, after he struck you by the butt of his gun. It still stings like a bitch. The bandage around your neck was still there, after Kai held you as a bait by pressing a knife to your neck. Then the bandage wrapped around your arms and on your knees... Counting your injuries was an old habit every time Kai would hit you. Hopefully, this would be the last time you'd do that.

A yawned escaped your lips, as your eyelids grew heavy. You settle onto your bed, resting your head on your pillow, slowly drifting to sleep. A peaceful one, one where Kai wouldn't disturb you.

Two pairs of golden gazes both stared at each other with a blank expression, as the fiery tension ensued between the two Chisaki siblings. You were having none of this, as you clutched the armrests of your wheelchair. Your sleep was disturbed by Aizawa and his students, just to put you in the same room as this asshole. You glared fiery inferno into his eyes, as his empty eyes. It was quite unnerving to see him without a mask. You wouldn't lie, but seeing him like this makes you see that he changed for a little bit. But you don't trust him. The tension eventually broke with Kai sighing and speaking.

"Do you want to start over?"

"Sorry, but I'm quite a handful," you sneered, crossing your arms over your chest, internally smirking in triumph. He only sneered back at you, rolling his eyes. "You should've told me that a long time ago, because I'd be willing to start over... Now? I don't think so," you spoke. You bit your tongue back. You were finally able to talk back to him with such bravery without being punished; you can finally speak without that quiver in your voice.

Kai sighed. "Look, I know what I did to you was unacceptable- I am aware. We're still siblings no matter what happens. And I'd like to rebuild our relationship as siblings... A functional one. We both know that we only have each other... Now what do you say?" Never in your life have you seen Kai have this kind of demeanor. He was always uptight, strict.

But could you trust him? He can be manipulative at times. He has displayed a lot of masks to other people, and you can't let him fool you... But was this genuine? What was his goal of he ever persuaded you to be his sibling again? It's not like he has A Shiee Hassakai to return to, no. What if he really wanted to rekindle that relationship of yours?

Your breathe hitched as you contemplated, thoughts contradicted one another as you thought about it. Million thought raced in your head, as you couldn't comprehend all of these overwhelming thoughts. Confusion was evidently present in your face, as you searched answers in your heart.

"I'll let you think about it," Kai sighed. "I'm sorry about the things I have done to you... I know that what I did were all unacceptable... I should've treated you better." You nodded solemnly. Wait, did you just heard the word sorry? Before you can speak, someone interrupted you.

"Visiting hours are over, come along Chisaki-san," Nurse Kira handled your wheelchair, as you gave Kai a look. Not a sneer, not a glare... Just pure confusion and conflict of soft emotions.

"Bye, big brother," you waved, as Nurse Kira wheeled you out of the room. He is right. Both of you are still siblings no matter what happens. You can't erase your past together... But you can rebuild it. Blood is thicker than water, you know that. But you still needed to decide.
