All I want (Pops X Grandchild Reader)
Warning, this chapter will contain staged suicide and child abue. If you're not comfortable with that, please read with caution.
Name: L/N Y/N
Age: 15
Quirk: Blood bag; the capability to provide other people blood, for you have excessive blood in your body. Your blood is a universal donor, so it won't be a problem. Additionally, because you have excessive amounts of blood, you can cry bloody tears.
Three years ago...
It couldn't be... Could it?
You were in denial. You're in denial that you're in denial. You were confused. You were conflicted. You can't comprehend those following words that came out of Kai's mouth. You're not even sure if he spoke the right thing. You're not even sure if he even spoke. You need to stop Were you just hearing things? Or did he said the wrong thing? Your lips quivered, as your surroundings seems to stop. Your chest tightened, as you struggled to breathe.
You laughed, nervously.
"W-what?" You cursed at yourself for stuttering. You only stutter when you're upset.
Kai solemnly looks at you. The emotions in his eyes were exposed and obvious. You didn't need to read his lips.
"Pops' never going to wake up again," those words painfully echoed in your head.
Maybe you misheard him. He's never the type to joke. At least, not the the type to joke to cope.
"N-now's not the time to joke, Kai," you forced a giggle, as Kai intensely gazed down on you in half scrutiny l, half concern. Mostly scrutiny. The small hint of sadness and devastation was visible in his eyes.
Was he sympathetic for you? Or maybe to himself? Either way, the small hint of sadness were in his eyes. The eyes of the person you would see.
One. Last. Time.
You swallowed thickly, forcing your sobs to remain trapped in your throat as your eyes began to sting and gloss. Your world seemed to slow down. Everything feels numb.
You couldn't breathe, you couldn't move.
You just stood still. Stiff and uncomfortable, but you never moved to be comfortable like you always do.
You can hear sounds, yet you can't understand them. The world was spinning, as the ground feels like moving under your feet.
For the past 15 years, you breathed. This time, you seem to forget about the need to breathe. For the past 15 years, you spoke. This time, you seem to forget about the existence of communicating, nor the existence of vocals. Soon, you found your voice. But you can't find your words.
"I— wha— how— h— wh-wha—" you stumbled on your words, as you stumbled backwards, only to be supported by the wall behind you. You held your head in your palms, as Kai eyes you down.
It wasn't usual for a Yakuza to show weaknesses such as this. Scratch that, it is NOT allowed for a Yakuza to show such things. But your grandfather always said that it was alright to do so, yet Kai kept a tight grip around your neck to remind you these things every single day, even if you are the grandchild of Pops.
Like he previously said, it doesn't matter if you were his grandchild. You're still nothing but an underling to follow Pops around. Family doesn't matter if they're weak and useless.
Now, you weren't the strongest. In fact, you can barely fight. Kai was right. You were indeed weak. But Pops insisted that you are strong despite Kai's words.
Taking a deep, steady breathe, you spoke, "M-may I see him?"
Kai gazed at you in irritation. His eyes were narrowed, and you bet that he is currently frowning under that black mask of his. He clicks his tongue in impatience.
"Don't take too long," without any response whatsoever, you raced pass him.
You can't be bothered to be lectured by him.
Once you reached his room, you hesitated. Your shaking hand hovered above the door knob, as you intensely gazed down on it. Your breathes grew ragged as bloody tears erratically cascaded down your face. It stung, but you can't be bothered now.
Finally gathering enough necessary strength, mentally, physically, and emotionally, you swung the door open.
There, he lays. On his bed. Unmoving.
While you, you laid on the floor, on your knees.
A few days after Pops confirmed coma...
"Lay A SINGLE FINGER ON HER AGAIN, I DARE YOU, CHISAKI!"
"STAY OUT OF MY WAY, L/N!"
Both party argued. As you shielded your cousin from Chisaki, as he attempted to lay a finger of her. To experiment on her.
It was one of the factors that Pop's hated about Kai. The fact that he is willing to harm another individual to get what he wants. Pops know that it's the Yakuza way, but the reign of the Yakuza is over. Even if it isn't, Pops wouldn't ever do such things.
"Pops isn't waking up again. Have some respect and do what he wants. Stop insisting to use Eri in one of your sadistic experiments!" You screeched, as Eri sobbed on your chest. You held her close, keeping her away from Chisaki.
He seems to soften for a split second. A small sign that he was battling with his conscience. But apparently, conscience isn't really in his vocabulary.
"It's not sadistic to experiment on a child. I'm not doing it to pleasure myself, I'm doing this to change the world!" He retorted, as he tried to reach for Eri, when you immediately turned away at the slightest degree.
"So you're normalising CHILD ABUSE?! POPS RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THAT!"
"WHY DOES IT MATTER?! HE'S GONE!"
"HE IS GONE! BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! AND ABUSING A CHILD?! YOU'RE A MONSTER!" You shrieked.
As Kai opened his mouth to contradict you, you immediately interrupted him. What you said made his blood boil. "Don't forget that you're just a right hand man of mine, Chisaki. I am the blood grandchild of his. I'm the heir/heiress of his leadership. And since I'm now the leader, I'm thinking that Hari is better off being my right hand man."
You narrowed your eyes at him. He does the same thing back at you. He hated that you were right. Your eyes darted on his gloved hands, clenched tightly and shaking.
He looked confused. He was conflicted. As if he was having an existential crisis.
You know his hands itched to use his quirk on you. You know that far too well. In suddenly, his composure soon calmed down... Just a little. Clicking his tongue, he stormed off, bumping unto Hari's shoulder. If it weren't for Hari's presence in the room, he would have killed you.
Your shoulders relaxed, as you melted in Eri's small figure. "Shhh, it's alright... Kuya/Ate* Y/N is here for you..." You whispered in a hushed tone, as your stroked her hair. Your eyes darted on Hari, and gave him a thankful smile. He nods back, returning the same smile back at you.
Present
Despite the age difference, both you and Hari got along quite well. He was five when he first saw you. A bundle of purity wrapped in a soft, white blanket that was always carried around by Pops. He thought you were very small and fragile. Like a doll. In both size and innocence. He always wanted to hold you, but was afraid to drop you. That's when he promised that maybe one day, he'll be able to hold you when he's strong and big.
He saw you grow up. He heard your first word, he witnessed the first time you walked... He was your best childhood friend.
Both of you played together as younglings.
Both of you trained together as young protégés.
Both of you grew as best friends.
Both of you grew as partners in crime.
A platonic friendship, an unbreakable bond.
That's when Kai came. A young boy found in an abandoned building by Pops. He was an odd child. Always avoiding people. Anti-social. Pops took a liking to that boy, that he kept him. He trained him like he trained Y/N and Hari.
As much as Y/N and Hari tried their best to befriend him, they just couldn't break his ice. And they still tried. Even Pops encouraged Kai to do the same.
Even if that happened, both of Y/N and Hari we're still close friends. Even if Y/N no longer trained with Hair and was replaced by Kai.
Y/N was always happy. Always smiles.
Always smiles, that one can't distinguish which smile is real, or which one is false.
He knows them like he knows his own mind.
Chrono sighed. Everything just went downhill after Pops wasn't able to wake up again. He leaned his back on the trunk of the tree, gazing up to a branch where he found your body a year ago. Swaying by the wind as if you were dancing with it. He closes his eyes, as he breathed into the air.
It feels better to breathe in fresh air without wearing one of those air filtering masks that Overhaul makes them wear.
If Y/N were still alive, they'd be sixteen by now. If Y/N were alive, they'd still be leader. A great leader, unlike his current boss.
A boss and a leader have differences.
A leader doesn't just commands, they show demonstrate. A leader will not control their people by fear, but by respect. A leader doesn't just let their followers do their jobs, they too participate in doing so as well.
Kai is a great boss, don't get the wrong idea (He's not. He's the worst.) It's just that it would be different if it were Y/N.
He just misses you. A lot. And he failed to be there by your side when you needed him the most. He remembers your suicide note. Word by word. Even if you never said it out loud, he can somehow hear your voice in his head.
My dearest friends,
I give up fighting my own battle. The pressure is too heavy for my liking and the thought of Lolo** gone made me go mad. If he is never waking up again, then what is the purpose of life? Additionally, the heir/heiress as Yakuza leader is heavy on my shoulder and I don't think that I'm good enough to be one. I can never be as great as my grandfather, nor as Kai. So at my last command, I hereby proclaim that Kai should be leader. This is my last good bye. Forgive me for what I have done.
L/N Y/N
Hari never thought that you would do that. It never once crossed his mind that you were depressed. He doubted the fact that you would ever do this, but there you were.
As much he hated Kai as the leader, all he can do was to grant Y/N's wishes and follow him, be loyal to him. If it makes them happy, then Hari will be glad to grant their wishes. It was the only thing he can do when he failed to save them from their predicament.
As much as he hated the fact that they were gone, at least they were in a better place.
Three years ago...
You sat by Pops' bedside, gazing at his peaceful composure. Was he waking up again? You greatly hoped so. But as much as you mourned, you knew you needed to lead.
"Lolo, I know that I told you that I don't want to lead the Yakuza... But if that's what you want, I'll do it. Just for you. You trusted me to become one, and I'm not the one who questions your judgement..." You kissed his forehead. "I'll do as you wish, Lolo..."
As Chisaki leaned on the other side of the door from outside, he readied the empty syringe in his shaking grasp. He can hear you. And he thinks that it's pathetic.
Yakuzas are not meant to show weaknesses. Yet here you are. If you aren't already suitable as a Yakuza, you were absolutely not suitable to be the leader of the Yakuza.
So he knew what to do.
He's done it once, and he can do it again. This time, it would be an eternal, lifeless sleep rather than Pops.
Quietly, he slid himself in the room, as he raised the pump of the syringe, filling it with air. As your back was turned, his hands tremendously trembled as he took silent steps towards your direction.
You aren't wroth it to kill with his quirk.
Covering your mouth, you squirmed under his grasps as he places the syringe needle on your temple and pieces your skin. Bloody tears coated your face as you desperately tried to fight back but it was no use. Pushing the pump down, air filled your blood stream as your systems automatically shuts down.
Chisaki let's your body collapse on the floor, unceremoniously dropping you. He rolls his eyes, and dusts his coat. He picked up a rope and tied it into a knot, before fastening it around your neck. He forged your handwriting and wrote a suicide note. He carried you to the Yakuza gardens, and hung your body by the tree.
And upon "discovering" your body, he immediately called everyone. Two lives were gone after that week. And he couldn't get more devastated.
His gaze landed on a white gerbera daisy. A rush of nostalgia immediately flooded him. A soft smile spread across his lips, as he admired the beauty of the simple flower.
A soft smile, a melancholic gaze. Contradictions of emotions.
A few years ago...
"Kuya Hari!" The ten year old arrow haired male glanced at the small five year old child. "Kuya Hari!"
"What is it Y/N?" The child shook in excitement, as they hid their hands behind their back. Well, at least attempted to hide the obvious flower behind their back.
"Happy birthday!" They gleefully spoke, as they presented Hari a white gerbera daisy.
Hari's facial expression expressed deep confusion as he eyed the flower. You pouted, as you nudged the flower on his chest. "What? You don't like it?" You asked.
"N-no, it's just... It's weird."
"Why?"
"I don't know," he said, as he took the flower between his index finger and thumb, examining it.
"Well do you what these thing means?" You asked, scooting beside him and leaning on his shoulder. He shook his head, confused.
"These things have meaning?"
"Duh," you rolled your eyes. "White gerbera daisies; a symbol of sentimental clarity and beauty."
Hari questioningly winces at you. "What does that supposed to mean?" You smacked him by his shoulders.
"It means you matter, you moron," you pouted. Hari glares you, as he rubs his shoulder, before his gaze sets on the flower between his finger and thumb. He held a small smile on his face, as he leaned on your small figure, causing you to whine, but he nonchalantly dismissed it.
"Ugh, GET OFF!" You attempted to push him off, but he's heavy. He just kept putting his weight on you, until you actually laid on your side, on the dirt.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome, Kuya Hari. Now get off of me!"
Eri misses you. A lot. You were always there for her. You have her feel accepted. You made her feel loved. Now that you were gone, she no longer feels those things. She was treated with sheer hatred, abused.
And that point, everything like that seems to be normal for her. She was considering to do the same thing you did. But she didn't have the guts to do so.
She though that unlike you, she was a coward for being afraid to kill herself. To end her misery.
To be honest, in my own opinion, she deserves nothing but happiness in this world.
But the universe has another plan for her.
(Ooof, fourth wall break XD)
Almost everyday, she would sit by the experiment table, injected with all types of liquids and serum. It felt like torture.
She hoped all of this to stop. She wished that all of this to stop. He wanted to be happy, but was that too much to ask for?
"Ate/Kuya Y/N... I miss you..." Eri whimpered, as she embraced your pillow. "I need you..."

*Kuya (Pronounced Koo-yah) is a Tagalog term for older males or older brothers. Like Ate, we use this to refer to boys that are older than us.
** Lolo (Pronounced as Loh-loh) is a term to use for male elderlies.
So that's our Tagalog lessons for today! Ahehe
