(19th) In the dark
Wrapped in a large quilt, Phyllis was watching an action movie in a well light room.
A phone rung; causing her to yelp and jump out of the cover and onto her feet.
She sighed and composed herself as the phone continued to loudly sound.
She frowned slightly and looked to her cellphone with confusion before she shifted her gaze, then moved towards the door and hallway.
Tentatively, she stepped into the bright hall, but only a little, before she reached forward and picked up a landline phone from a near stand, held it to her ear and said nothing.
"Is this Phyllis?" a young sounding male voice asked.
"This is" she answered.
"OK, this is gonna sound strange, but I need to tell... Oh yeah, I'm Fent ...... by the way, and Cali's... No, no, no, wait, she goes by..."
Phyllis hung up.
Phyllis looked fearful towards the phone, screaming in terror as it soon rung again.
Contemplating her next move, she then choose to slowly and wordlessly answer it.
"Why'd ya hang up? I'm tryna help! You have no..." the male began in the same rushed manner, however Phyllis quickly cut him off.
"Listen kid, I've got enough weirdness going on in my life, your prank doesn't phase me" she affirmed with a tense brow.
"You're being groomed by a six hundred year old vampire" he claimed in a slower and calmer manner.
Phyllis stood still, speechless.
Seemingly the boy allotted her time to allow the information to sync in.
"How did you get this number" Phyllis soon asked.
"Phonebook, listen, I don't have time to... I can't... I sent Cal' to a meeting and I can't be late, otherwise she'll get... you know... I know you're shocked" he managed.
"Who are you?" Phyllis asked.
"Did.. Didn't... Didn't I tell you? Jo, Joey. I'm Joseph Nile!" he managed in a snap. "Listen, look, can, can we meet? I planned this perf... You still going to the phone launch aren't ya?" he rushed.
"What Phone..." Phyllis halted her question as something surfaced in her mind "The M7!" she yelled as she flashed a glance to a grandfather clock at the far end of the hallway - stating 11.14.
"Yeah, you coming? I'm in the queue now" he claimed "I've saved you a place, I'm holdin' a sign with your name on, hurry up!" he said.
"I'll get a taxi" Phyllis said as she hung up.
She reached toward the other side of the doorway, pushing her hand into a coat stand filled with furry coats.
Jumping out of a private taxi then rushing through a small stretch of town, large blonde fur flowing like a cape, concealing her yellow 'top', Phyllis approached a large queue.
Power walking beside the queue, scanning those who populated it, she stopped at a youth dressed in a white and yellow shell suit, busy on his phone with strip of cardboard, clearly torn off perhaps a cereal box under his arm.
"Joseph?" Phyllis enquired.
Getting no answer, she chose to drag the sheet out of his hand, he offered no protest. Taking a closer look, she viewed her name.
"You spelt my name right" Phyllis said in a monotone whilst looking inquisitively at him.
"I aint stupid" he claimed whilst choosing to put his mobile in his pocket. He stepped backwards a little
"You coming in?"
Phyllis moved towards him, standing at his side, instantly upsetting assorted people behind them who voiced a number of comments on her pushing in.
"People don't queue in other countries, learn some culture" Phyllis claimed as she glanced over her shoulder, before looking upon the slightly shorter male at her side.
Within a flash, the youth grasped the back of her large coat and pushed her onto the wall in front of him; she hit it with a harsh thud bumping into a young woman in front of her in the process.
Startled for brief moment, Phyllis quickly regained her composure, stood straight and opened her mouth, clearly to yell, however she didn't continue, instead, she watched the scene...
"My fault, saved her place, first date, she aint from here" Joseph rushed with his open hands up, appearing submissive before a larger, scowling male, stood in the spot Phyllis previously queued with a balled fist level with his shoulder.
The standoff lasted a good five or so seconds, until another male voice said "Just leave it mate"
Another claiming "She's not worth it"
Joseph offered the larger male his hand.
The man looked aside for a moment before choosing to step back behind others.
"Soz" Joseph offered towards Phyllis, however he was looking past her and toward the woman at her side, extending a hand.
"Don't be" the woman replied as she accepted the handshake.
Phyllis looked on in disgust, but chose to say nothing as the boy openly licked his shaken palm, before licking along his fingers.
"You need to be careful, people get wild at these things" he spoke calm and clearly.
Phyliss ignored this conversation and instead asked "How did you get my number"
"Phonebook" he flatly answered whilst dropping his hands.
"I've seen you somewhere" she claimed.
"Probably.. Listen... About Cal'..." he began as he looked to her "Ya know, you're in trouble, I can tell she's..."
"Oh yes! Before you rudely interrupted on the phone, I was going to ask, how do you know her?"
