Chapter 9: Wrapped in Your Warmth

The evening had settled in, wrapping the streets in a cool embrace as Jimin finished his day at the café. It had been a quiet day, though his heart felt heavier than usual. Jungkook had been so busy with his studies lately, and their time together had dwindled to fleeting texts and stolen calls.

Jimin had told himself he understood—Jungkook’s final exams were important. But still, he couldn’t help the pang of disappointment that crept into his chest as he flipped the sign to Closed and locked the café door for the night.

He sighed softly, tucking his keys into his pocket and pulling his hoodie closer against the chilly breeze. Just as he turned to head home, a familiar voice broke through the stillness.

“Hey, pretty,” the voice called playfully.

Jimin’s heart leapt as he looked up—and there he was. Jungkook stood under the glow of the streetlamp, holding another bouquet of flowers in his hand and wearing the widest grin Jimin had ever seen. His dark hair was slightly tousled, and his breath puffed in little clouds in the cold night air.

“Jungkook?” Jimin gasped, his voice tinged with disbelief.

“Surprise!” Jungkook said, taking a few steps forward, his smile softening as he looked at Jimin. “Did you really think I wouldn’t make time for you today?”

Jimin’s lips parted, his eyes darting from the bouquet to Jungkook’s face. “But... you said you were busy...”

“I am,” Jungkook admitted, stopping just in front of Jimin. “But no amount of studying is going to keep me away from my favorite person in the world.”

Jimin felt his cheeks warm despite the chilly air. He glanced down at the bouquet, a blush creeping up his neck. It was another beautiful arrangement, this time with vibrant red tulips and delicate sprigs of lavender.

“Jungkook,” Jimin whispered, his voice soft.

Jungkook grinned, holding out the flowers. “These are for you. Because even after a long day, you still bloom brighter than any flower I’ve ever seen.”

Jimin’s laugh bubbled up, soft and sweet, as he accepted the bouquet. “You’re so cheesy,” he said, though his smile betrayed how much he loved it.

“And you love it,” Jungkook teased, his eyes sparkling.

Before Jimin could retort, Jungkook reached out and tugged gently at Jimin’s hoodie. “You’re shivering,” Jungkook murmured, his tone turning gentle. He carefully zipped Jimin’s hoodie all the way up, his fingers lingering for a moment as he adjusted the hood.

“There,” Jungkook said with a satisfied smile. “Gotta keep my boyfriend warm.”

Jimin blinked up at him, his heart fluttering at the simple but tender gesture. “You’re impossible,” he mumbled, but the warmth in his voice made it clear he didn’t mean it.

Jungkook chuckled, and without another word, he pulled Jimin into his arms. The hug was firm yet gentle, his arms wrapping securely around Jimin’s smaller frame.

“I missed you,” Jungkook murmured, his voice low and earnest as he rested his chin on Jimin’s shoulder. “So much.”

Jimin melted into the embrace, his arms slipping around Jungkook’s waist. He buried his face in Jungkook’s chest, breathing in the familiar scent that always felt like home.

“I missed you too,” Jimin admitted softly, his voice muffled against Jungkook’s jacket.

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other’s warmth as the world around them faded away. The cool night air didn’t matter, nor did the hours Jungkook had spent studying or the fatigue Jimin felt from his long day. In that moment, all that existed was them—two hearts beating in sync, bound by something neither of them could fully put into words.

As Jungkook pulled back just enough to look at Jimin, Jimin’s eyes glimmered with a teasing light. “You know,” he began, a shy smile playing on his lips, “we started this whole thing because of my pickup line.”

Jungkook smirked, his hands still resting on Jimin’s shoulders. “Yeah, and look at me now—your boyfriend and the reigning king of cheesy lines.”

Jimin laughed, his nose crinkling in the way that always made Jungkook’s heart skip a beat. “Oh, is that so? And here I thought I was still the expert.”

Jungkook leaned in closer, his eyes never leaving Jimin’s. “Well, let me prove it to you, then.”

Jimin tilted his head, intrigued. “Oh? And how exactly are you going to do that?”

Jungkook grinned, his voice dropping into a soft, playful tone. “Are you a shooting star? Because every time I look at you, I wish for forever.”

Jimin burst into laughter, his cheeks burning red as he lightly hit Jungkook’s chest. “That’s so bad!”

“Bad?!” Jungkook feigned offense, clutching his chest dramatically. “Excuse you, that was pure gold!”

“Pure cringe, you mean,” Jimin teased, though his laughter softened into a warm smile.

Jungkook chuckled, his arms slipping around Jimin’s waist again. “Cringe or not, it worked, didn’t it? You’re mine now.”

Jimin shook his head, his gaze softening as he rested his hands against Jungkook’s chest. “Yeah,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “I am.”

Jungkook’s grin softened, turning into something tender and full of affection. “And I’m yours,” he said simply, pressing a gentle kiss to Jimin’s forehead.

The world seemed to stand still as they stood there, wrapped in each other’s warmth, the bouquet forgotten in Jimin’s hand. Under the glow of the streetlamp, love bloomed anew—cheesy lines, shy laughter, and all.

The end.
