Chapter 2: Mochi
Yoongi stirred himself awake at the sound of someone pounding on a door. He grumbled, got out of bed and rubbed the sleep away from his eyes to see Kimlee banging on Jimin's door.
"Why are you so loud so early in the morning? Also, what's he doing in there?" Yoongi asked, tilting his head towards Jimin's room which had loud music emitting from it.
Kimlee glared at Yoongi. "He's always trying to overwork himself for his stupid group. He'll wake up bright and early and spend hours dancing. That's before he tries to make deliveries for granny."
Yoongi glared back at her then scooted Kimlee out of the way and knocked on Jimin's door himself. "Jimin, it's a little early for this, try to get some rest." The music lowers, then stops, then suddenly Jimin opens his door, panting hard and uneven.
"Sorry Yoongi-Hyung. I didn't mean to wake you up." Jimin said softly, then noticed Kimlee was standing there as well. "Sorry Kimi," Jimin glanced at the time on his phone and nearly dropped it. "Shoot! I gotta go make another delivery for granny before practice!" Jimin hurriedly ran from his room to the front door and was gone in an instant. Kimlee rubbed the side of head.
"Does he always run off like that?" Yoongi mean to say that more to himself but realized he said it out loud when Kimlee looked at him with curiosity.
"He does," She looked over on Jimin's bed and sees that he forgot his backpack. "Aaanndd like always he forgets something." She walked into his room and grabbed his backpack, handing it to Yoongi. "Take this to the shop before he forgets it and his precious boy group gets upset with him."
Yoongi stared at the backpack and before he could protest, she was already gone. He groaned, 'Guess I'm going outside today'. Yoongi walked back in his room and dressed himself in his favorite black and white plaid shirt, complete with a black t-shirt underneath, ripped black jeans and a pair of black and white sneakers. He swung Jimin's backpack over his shoulder and headed out of the door.
The streets of Busan were busy, luckily Yoongi had his headphones to distract him from the onslaughts of people that deemed him as "cold looking". After a quick ten minute walk Yoongi reached the shop that Jimin's grandmother owned. The bell dinged to indicate that he walked in, the old woman smiled at seeing him.
"Are you looking for Jimin young Daegu traveler?" she asked as she placed manggae cakes in the display glass.
"Call me Yoongi ma'am, and yes he left his bag in his room. I was swindled into bringing it to him."
Jimin's grandmother laughed softly, "Ah, that boy would forget his head if it weren't attached to his shoulders. Jimin just finished a delivery for me then ran out to this studio where he dances. It's a few blocks down, walk out of here and go to the left." she packed a small box of manggae rice cakes then handed the box to Yoongi. "Take him these too please, sometimes that boy forgets to eat." Yoongi really didn't want to go out of his way, but he couldn't say no to the woman. He took the box from her and left with a smile.
Yoongi walked out of the shop and headed to the left, walking down the street, determined to get the bag to Jimin so he can compose more beats. Strolling five blocks down, he heard loud dance music coming from a small studio, if it weren't for the music he would have never found it. He opened the door to the studio and found Jimin dancing vigorously hard, sweating too. Yoongi walked over to the speaker and paused the music, which made Jimin stop instantly.
"Please don't interrupt my- oh what are you doing here Yoongi-Hyung?" Jimin asked as he wiped the sweat from his forehead, giving Yoongi the chance to see his abdomen. Yoongi's face reddened slightly, he cleared his throat remembering what he came by for. "You left in such a hurry that you forgot your bag, and your grandmother packed some lunch for you. Do you always dance this hard by yourself?"
Jimin smiled, taking his backpack and the small box from Yoongi. He looked as if he had been dancing that hard for hours, it bothered him a little to see him look so disheveled. "Ah, granny worries too much. I'm strong enough to handle everything. The guys were kind enough to come to Busan so I could see granny and help out. My dancing and singing have to be spot on." Jimin opened the box and sniffed the rice cakes, a small moan for food escaped his lips.
As Jimin shoved one of the rice cakes into his mouth his cheeks puffed up, Yoongi laughed. "You're cheeks look puffy, like little mochi cakes. I think I'll call you mochi." Jimin smiled, his cheeks turning a light pink.
As Jimin stuffed his face, Yoongi noticed another door in the studio. "Where does that go?" Jimin followed his gaze. "That leads to a piano room. There's a beautiful white piano in there." Jimin offers one of the maggnae rice cakes. Yoongi scowled at first. "I'm not a big fan of rice cakes."
Jimin gasped, he had never heard such a thing. "You haven't tasted my granny's! Lots of love and time goes into every one. I promise you'll love it." Yoongi smiled at Jimin's enthusiasm and took the rice cake from him, biting into it. Jimin watched with excitement. Yoongi gave him a gummy smile. "It's good, I like it." He said as he finished the rest of the cake.
"Do you play the piano?" Jimin asked as he packed up the rest of his belongings. "Yeah, I do, it calms me. So you're a part of some dance group?"
Jimin rubbed his head. "Ah, we sing and dance, there's six of us, finding the last member is becoming hard. I would love to hear you play someday." Yoongi smiled. "Maybe you will one day, when I'm not too busy rapping and being famous." He joked, which made Jimin laugh.
"I look forward to seeing both with my own eyes one day Yoongi-Hyung."
"Of course, anything for the mochi." Jimin blushed lightly, which didn't go unnoticed as Yoongi smiled to himself. "Are you ready to go home?" All Jimin could do was nod his head vigorously as he followed behind Yoongi.
They reached the apartment walkway, as they talked about Daegu, and Jimin's love for rice cakes. Yoongi went to open the door and when Jimin suddenly tripped over his own feet. Yoongi caught Jimin, his small hand fit perfectly in his as the other held him up. Time seemed to have stopped for them both.
After Yoongi helped him up Jimin looked at him, he felt his face heating up. "Ah! I'm so sorry!" Jimin bowed then ran ahead towards their apartment. Yoongi still stood in awe, he wondered what were the strange feelings he was developing for someone he just met and new nothing about. 'He will be the death of me, that sweet little mochi.' Yoongi thought to himself as he walked up to the apart behind his embarrassed mochi.
