(y/n) - your name

"(y/n), wake up..." I groan softly when someone gently shakes me awake, opening my eyes to see Five looking at me with a bored expression.
"What?" I yawn out, rubbing my eyes and looking around tiredly. I saw that it was pitch black outside now so I must have been sleeping for a long time.
"Your laptop is dead." I get handed my laptop and I click on the power button to get the lower power symbol on the screen.
"There goes the charge I guess." I close it and stand up, stretching and feeling energetic now after my sleep. "You remember everything you worked on?" I ask Five as he stands up with me, fixing his appearance.
"Of course I do." He rolls his eyes and moves to leave his secret room. I quickly follow after him, the both of us avoiding family members when he grabs my hand to teleport to his room.
"I will never get over that..." I groan in discomfort, putting my laptop away. I saw Five looking antsy about waiting around so I thought why not go outside. "Wanna go for a walk? Or go to Griddys?" he thinks it over and nods, taking his duffel bag with Dolores in it and strapping it to his back, the both of us moving to climb out his window again. I flush softly as Five held my hand when I climbed out, the both of us climbing down the ladder before walking out of the alleyway.
It was a quiet night, almost peaceful as the both of us walked down the empty streets with the night blankets over us. I look up to see a few stars here and there, the street lamps illuminating the road. I was lost in my thoughts as I hummed out a familiar song.
"Il, il n'est pas fou, Il l'aime c'est tout
Il la voit partout, Il l'attend debout."
I look over at Five to see him already staring at me but he quickly looks away. I chuckle softly when I see the tips of his ears turn pink, skipping ahead of him to walk backwards. "What's the song you were singing?" he clears his throat, looking at me.
"Oh, it's by someone called Indilla. It's a beautiful song." he nods when I say that, looking around the street before turning to me again.
"What's your world like?" he asks and I shrug. I knew that he was only trying to strike up a conversation to avoid the quiet. He had enough of it in the apocalypse and I figured he'd rather have someone to talk to or hear the bustling streets of New York. Unfortunately, there weren't any cars but I was happy to answer any question he had.
"The same as yours. Just no heroes or villains or the Commission."
"But you still have bad guys?"
"Yeah. Thieves, scam artists, rich white guys, rapists, murderers and all humanely possible scum."
"Rich white guys?" Five chuckles and I beam seeing him start to relax, his hands in pockets moving to hold the bag straps instead.
"Oh yeah, you got money, you can get away with anything."
"Explains Reginald..." he grumbles and I frown.
"What's your favourite food besides your peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich." I pipe up, trying to get him to be comfortable again and not go thinking about the impending doom of the world ending.
He raises a brow at me at the random question but thinks it over anyway. "I like normal clear glazed donuts."
"Really? I assumed you would go for something really sweet considering your sandwich..."
"They're too messy to eat." Five grimaces and I chuckle.
"Ok, what's your favourite colour?" I ask.
"Green." he says without hesitation. "It's... it's the one colour I couldn't see for years in the apocalypse. It took me a while to leave the destruction and devastation to find the outskirts of the least impacted areas but even then, there was no colour besides red and orange and brown..."
"You missed the greenery of the flowers and plants..."
"I did yes... There was a time when I found a tree and it was spring... it was so beautiful... the leaves were a vibrant green and the flowers were pink... it was lovely..." I smile hearing Five talk about a happy memory of his. "What about you?"
"I like darker colours, especially black. Reminds me of the night..." I grin, pointing up. "But I'm not a picky person with colour or food really."
Five and I talked long through the night, sharing stories and fun childhood memories. Granted, Five's memory was more hazed than mine so he lets me rant about mine. He would smile and listen to me talk about my life and my family, stopping for a moment when he teleported us inside the closed Griddy's Donut store to snack on some of the donuts there. He made us some coffee, passing me my cup of the sweetened one before we sat down on the floor behind the counter. We sat opposite each other, smiling and talking while we had our coffee.
I was just glad that Five was feeling less stressed about the apocalypse. I knew it was important but he still needed time for himself, time to be alive and be happy. Even if it was short moments like this. We soon had to leave to head back to the van at the lab but he wanted to be productive so he got me to practice levitating and flying around. Like a ghost really. I got the hang of it I guess. I was able to levitate for certain periods of time but sometimes I would drop like lead randomly.
"Ok, I think I'm getting it..." I grin as I spun in a circle above Five, floating in the air but I gasp when I start to fritz out. "Oh, shit-!" I fall to the floor and I expected my legs to be broken since I had flown up a little higher, but I was shocked to see Five catch me. My eyes widen as I look at him, holding his shoulders and his cheeks flush as he held me in his arms. His hands held me tightly, his arms around my waist and beneath my legs bridal style. He blinks at me, giving me a soft look before he gently sets me down on my feet. "Thank you..." I breathe out, completely embarrassed.
"You should be more careful." he states, moving to walk off and I quickly rush after him.
We walked a couple more hours, the sun just starting to peek above the horizon as it was rising for the new day and we finally reached the van. "I feel like I'm forgetting something."
"Like what?" Five looks back at me as I floated behind him again but lower to the ground since I didn't want to bruise my ass any more than I had through my training.
"Something that was supposed to happen last night." I mumble out, trying to remember what I had forgotten.
It was pretty calm during the night.
"If it had something to do with the apocalypse (y/n), I swear to god-"
"-Five, don't worry. It's not. Why would I have forgotten about it then." I grin at him as I floated over to hover in front of him, his annoyed-looking face appearing upside down as my hair cascades down and blocks his view. I turn around and fly through the open window of the van, sitting down in my seat while Five got in his. He set the duffel bag with Dolores just behind us before driving off.
"So where did you say he would be?"
"He parked his car opposite a cafe. He had his dog with him."
"There's only one cafe around here that let pets indoors."
"Great! Let's go!" Five drove us to the cafe and parked the van nearby, getting out with our bags to wait for Lance to come out of the building when I suddenly remember what I had forgotten this morning. "OH MY GOD KLAUS!" Five looks at me in confusion when I gasp loudly.
"What about him?"
"He got kidnapped last night by Cha-Cha and Hazel! How do I forget that!? Five I need to go-"
"-no!" he grabs my arm, preventing me to leave. "I mean, I'm sure he's fine."
I try to pull my hand out of his grip but he doesn't let go and I frown at him when he tightens his grip. "Five, please he needs someone-"
"-I need you!" he pulls me closer, holding me tight by my hands and I look up at him with wide eyes. "I need you." he says sternly with a frown. "Please. I'm sure what's happening to Klaus is supposed to happen."
I guess that's true.
He wouldn't have gone back in time and met Dave if I somehow save him.
But that doesn't mean he deserves all that pain and heartache...
he shouldn't go through that... no one should...
"But he's in pain right now." I try to get Five to let me go, begging him to but he ignores me when he sees Lance come out of the building. "Please! Five, he can't go through that pain-" he doesn't say anything and my vision blurs blue when we teleport into Lance's car. I cover my mouth to hold back the sick feeling in my stomach while I sat in the back seats and Five threatens Lance in the front passenger seat.
"Oh, Jesus!"
"One chance. That's all you've got." Five brandished a steak knife and presses it against Lance's throat as my mind wanders to Klaus, frowning that I couldn't help him.
I didn't even know where he was being held... I didn't know which hotel Cha-Cha and Hazel were staying in...
I feel something nudge my leg and I look down to see Lance's puppy staring up at me and I smile sadly. "Hey, there buba..." I coo softly, petting the tiny puppy and its tail wags immediately. "Aren't you a sweet little thing." The puppy snuggles against my arm, laying its head against me as I used my other hand to scratch its head.
"I-I've got a list, a waiting list, probably 20 buyers."
"So, the serial number I told you..."
"Uh, could've already been bought."
Five sighs in annoyance, glaring at the shaking guy. "I needed that list, Lance. Names and numbers, and I need it now!" he yells at him
"I don't have it. I mean, not on me! The only copy's in my safe at the lab."
"Well, you start the car, then. Cause we're going on a field trip." Five hisses. "Now!" Lance scrambles to buckle up and start the car.
"Yeah like right now cause things are going to get a little hot." Five glances at me as Lance quickly drives off. He raises a brow at me, asking me what I meant without opening his mouth. "Tell Lance to step on it. I don't know how much time we have till the lab goes boom." Five's eyes widen and he quickly tells Lance to drive faster on my warning.
"Come on, hurry up!" he quickly jumps out of the car as soon as it gets parked beside the lab and I get locked in.
"Five!" I pound on the windows but Lance and Five walk away. "Goddamnit!"
He's going to get hurt!
I lay on my back and try to kick the window broken but I was a weak ass bitch for that! "Come on, just go full ghost. Go full ghost!" I press my hands against the window and I push against it. "Come on!" I close my eyes and lean forward, putting my weight against the glass until I was able to walk forward. I struggled to keep moving, my body feeling like it was walking through tar or something just really heavy and sticky. I could feel the wind on my arms and face as I tried to push through until I get shoved forward, falling on my face and gasping for air from the short suffocation.
Finally!
"Here buba." I grab a rock and break the window, the dog jumping out. It circled me and barked cutely before running off to god knows where. "Five! I need to find him!" I levitate off the ground and shoot forward, flying down the pathway until I see Five running towards the burning lab. "Five-shit!" I fall flat on my face against the cement, groaning in pain as I get up. "Five no!" I run towards him but he was getting too close to the building. "FIVE YOU FUCKING DUMBASS!" I launch my body against him as the building blows up, throwing us both back from the explosion.
"(y/n)! Are you ok!?" I groan, my back aching painfully. It was hard to move and it was hard to breathe. My ears were ringing and I opened my eyes to see Five hovering above me.
This looks familiar.
I turn away and cough out, wheezing to get air in my lungs as Five climbs off me. "Careful. Your back must be killing you right now."
Figures it would be since I was blocking you from the damn explosion!
I turn on my side, suddenly feeling so weak and exhausted. "Five, I'm tired." I mumbled softly and I see the look of panic on his face.
"No, no, no! Don't close your eyes! You'll be ok." I nod and he slowly picks me up in his arms bridal style, vision blurred but I try to blink it away. Five took me away from the burning building where the air was slightly cleaner, carefully setting me down on the bench. He holds my face to inspect my wounds, brushing my hair back and I hiss lightly from the scratches on my skin. "Ok, nothing looks too bad..." he sighs in relief, sitting down on the bench next to me as I lean my head back.
We rested for a bit until I felt better. "Now what?" I groan out, turning my head to look at Five who was in the same position as me.
"Let's go." he suddenly grabs my hand as we get up and all I see next is a blur of swirling blue, random bottles at a bar, the van and then books.
I lurch forward, bending over and almost hurling at the unsettling feeling in my stomach. "That was one too many jumps there buddy!" I gag out slightly, turning to the side to grab hold o fteh railing in front of me. "How many times have I told you to warn me!" I hiss out, ready to scold Five but when I turn around, he was already walking away. "Oi! Wait for me!" I rush after him as we walk down aisles of shelves, sitting down in a corner as he put down the stacks of books and bottles of alcohol on the floor. He takes out Dolores and sits her down next to his left as I sit on his right, Five unscrewing a Jack Daniels and gulping down the contents before standing up and scribbling smart mumbo jumbo all over the library walls.
"Well, I guess we are resorting to a depressant when things go south. Nice." I mumble out and grab a bottle to do the same as Five, gulping almost half of the bottle empty. "Cheers Dolores. Here's to an extremely shitty and tiring day."
As expected.
Silence.
"Well ok then." I sat there for hours on end, drinking away my pain with bottle after bottle yet I was the soberest one out of me and Five. He dropped to the floor after scribbling the blue walls and pillars almost black with his marker, the empty bottle rolling away from him. I stand up to look at his equations but no matter whether I was sober or drunk, it still looked confusing as fuck to me. I scratch my head and turn to question Five but he was already staring up at me when I stood in front of the equations. He gave me a soft look and slurred for me to come sit down with him.
"Cheers." he chuckles, the both of us clinking bottles and drinking again. My mind spins and hazes, a giggly feeling bubbling in my chest as I shakily put the bottles away.
"Five, babe." I slur out, leaning towards him as he looked at me with a smirk.
Ok, now we are really drunk.
"Yes love?" Five grins, leaning towards me like I was, our noses almost touching and it makes me giggle.
"Wanna know a secret?" I whisper, my mind absolutely fuzzy.
"What secret?" Five was completely gone as well with his slurred words. I could barely understand him as he crawled towards me, straddling my legs above me with his hands on my waist. I couldn't help but blush heavily as his lips brush against mine and I was so tempted to kiss him. "Tell me this secret. Is it about the apocalypse..." Five then suddenly pulls me into his lap and I gasp from the movement, holding his shoulders tightly as his hands gripped my hips tight. "Or about you?" he hums seductively and I blush as he leans up closer to me, whispering in my ear and my breath stutters when he groans softly before nibbling on my earlobe. He tugs on it gently before letting go and runs his lips down my neck.
"Five..." I hitch as a shudder runs down my spine and he hums in delight, pulling me closer to his chest and pressing me down on his lap making me groan softly.
"What is it love?" He chuckles darkly before planting a kiss on my shoulder, moving to press kisses up my neck and biting down on my skin. I stifle a moan as I thread my fingers through his hair, tilting my head back for him as Five continues to press kisses all over me. But the next thing I know, this boy falls asleep on me with his head dropping against my neck.
"You've got to be kidding me."
