I growl lowly at Five who was waiting for me to let go already. "You evil asshole." I huff out, slowly letting go of the lamp and I panic when I start floating up. "Don't let go of me!" I slowly float up almost past the buildings when I suddenly stop, the rope being pulled taut. "Oh, thank god!" I let out a sigh of relief and suddenly feel my body being tugged forward, looking down to see Five walking me like a pet. "This is just a different version of a baby leash isn't it?" he doesn't reply back with a snarky tone and I know something is wrong. "Five? Are you ok?" He doesn't say anything and I just let him drag me with him.
It was suddenly so quiet and peaceful, the night sky above me blanketed with twinkling stars. Everything just felt so surreal, like a dream. The streets were barren, not a single soul on the pathway besides us and no sign of cars zooming past us. It was literally just us and the world. I laid my hands behind my head and crossed my leg over the other as if I was laying on the floor, just watching the scenery slowly move past me while I watched the sky above me. I turn around and notice that we finally got back to the mansion, Five opening the door and helping me in by pulling down the rope.
I held the door ledge and shoved my way through as I floated past him. "Five. I'm really worried about you." he continued to stay silent and I frown, trying to not hit my head on the ceiling as we went up the stairs.
"Five?" Allison saw him, Luther too and they look at their brother with worry. "What the hell happened to you?"
"Are you ok? Can we help?" Luther went to see how badly his brother was wounded but Five grabs his arm painfully tight, stopping him.
"There's nothing you can do. There's nothing any of you can do..." He throws his brother's hand away and barges past his siblings, heading up to his bedroom. I climb into his room as Five closes the door behind him, dropping the bag carefully to take Dolores out and setting her on a chair before he collapses on his bed.
He buried his head into his hands and I felt my heart break at how defeated he looked. "Five..." He grips his hair and he looks up at me with grief.
"What do I do now (y/n)? The eyeball was my only lead so far and it's a fucking dead end!" he exclaims as he looked down at his hands, avoiding my eyes. "I don't know what to do..." I reached out to him, taking hold of his hands in mine and I realise that I was going back to normal as I floated back down.
I finally felt gravity normally and I was able to kneel in front of Five, squeezing his hands gently in mine to let him now I was there with him. "Hey, look at me." he closes his eyes, sighing out heavily. "Please..." I begged and he finally opens them, his green eyes welling with tears and I frown. "You're extremely smart Five. I know that you thought of other leads besides relying on this one." I gently wiped away the stray tears that managed to escape from his eyes and he leans into my palms, my thumb brushing against his cheeks softly.
"I know, I just... What if I don't save them? What if I can't-"
"-you will. You always will because you love them Five, you'd do anything for them. You will find a way no matter what it takes. You won't rest until you stop this apocalypse. One of the many traits that I love about you besides your sarcastic quips." Five rolls his eyes with a hint of a smile on his face and I smile knowing he was at least feeling a little better now.
"I know you can't tell me how to stop this, but it's getting so infuriating to just solve this. We only have about 6 days left now."
"That's plenty of time! As I said, you're crazy smart and I know you'll figure out what to do." I smile softly at him, standing up and heading into his bathroom to find the first aid kit. I grab it and move to sit down next to him on his bed. "This is just late-night sentiments talking."
Something I know all too well.
"Let's stitch you up." I take out the things I needed as Five took off his blazer, his sweater, tie and shirt. I blush brightly and try to focus on fixing his wound, cleaning up the blood on his arm before stitching him up. "Sorry." I wince when I hear him hiss out in pain, looking at him as he watched me sew him up before he glances up at me. He blinks at me and I realise how close we were until he looks away quickly. I clear my throat and finished up the stitches, standing up to look for some bandages or gauze but I couldn't find any. "Do you have any bandages?" I ask when I went to his bathroom to look for some, my breath hitching when I feel him stand behind me. My mind was racing when I felt him press up against my back, holding the edge of the sink to reach up into the shelves above my head in the back to pull out a box. I look at it and laugh softly at the image of a cartoon train on it. "Cute." I grab the box, turning around to take out a few and I look up to see Five blushing red in embarrassment in front of me.
"I haven't been in here for years! I was only 13 and Mom buys them-"
"-I get it Five. It's just adorable." I chuckle, signalling him to turn around so I could put one on. He shows me his arm and I carefully put the bandage on, giggling at the little train on it.
"Oh shut up..." he huffs, looking at me for a moment. "... Seems like you figured out how to stop floating too."
"Yeah, I don't actually know what's going on with that exactly." I look down at my hands, flexing them and Five grabs hold of them.
He turns them around, looking at my arms. "I think you're becoming physical." he mutters out, running his fingertips slowly from my fingers and up my arm. I shudder from his soft touch, being able to feel his cold fingers brush against my skin and leaving goosebumps. He looks at me and I blush as I look away to stare at my arms, gasping in discomfort when his hands phase through me just above my elbow.
He lets me go and I wiggle my fingers. "Still doesn't explain why I started to float out of nowhere." I mutter out.
"I think it's an ability of yours when you're in this ghostly form."
"I thought so too." Five suddenly steps back from me.
"Try levitating."
"Wait, like right now?"
"Yes." I look down at my feet as I pad them against the bathroom tiles, focusing on the feeling of cold sleek feeling and trying to get rid of that. "You're doing it!"
"Wait, really!?" I gasp as Five moves back to give me space to float when my feet rise off the floor, levitating in the bathroom. "Well damn-" he winces sharply when I suddenly fall down and my ass collides against the floor, hissing in pain. "Fuck!" I groan out, turning over to rub my ass.
"We might have to work on that later." he gives me his hand and I grab onto it, gasping when he pulls me up on my feet easily. I stumble against his chest and I look at him with wide eyes, holding his arms. He blushes heavily as he looks down at me and I quickly step back, gently pushing him away by his chest so I could leave the bathroom. My fingers tingled from touching his chest and I take my leather jacket off to drape it over a chair, trying to distract myself as I took my boots off.
"Hey, uh you mind if I shower? Now that I'm kinda getting used to these so-called powers of mine, I need to get rid of all this blood."
"Yeah, that's no problem." Five says as he grabs some clothes and a towel out from his cupboard and I raise a brow at the prison-like pj set he just handed to me.
"Wow, I'll look like an Umbrella Kid if I wear this." I chuckle and he shakes his head in amusement.
"You can use my bathroom. I'll use the guest room downstairs." he says, grabbing his stuff and leaving his room. I head into his bathroom and try to close the door but I couldn't touch the doorknob, groaning in annoyance as I flex my hand before trying again. I was finally able to close the door, shedding my clothes and hopping in the shower to scrub myself clean. I dry off after I was, changing into the pj's and leaving the bathroom. I fold my clothes and set them on a chair with my bag, grabbing my phone and sitting on the floor to just scroll through it. I frown when I see an image of my family and I just realised that I haven't thought about them once while being stuck here.
I hope I can see them again...
I sigh out sadly, resting my head against my knees. I was extremely exhausted after today that I just easily fell asleep.
I hum softly as I slowly wake up, snuggling into the cozy and warm object but the sun was blinding me. "Ugh, why are the blinds open." I grumble softly, wrapping my hands around myself and pulling my legs to my chest to try and stay as warm as possible, burrowing my face against the warm pillow to hide from the sun's rays.
I felt something get pulled over me, a weight randomly dropping over my waist but I ignore it to try and get more sleep against the warm object in front of me. I suddenly feel air brush past my head, my hair moving around in a rhythmic way and I slowly open my eyes. I suck in a gasp, holding my breath when I notice Five in front of me as he slept. His face was so close to mine and I struggled to move back as he held me tightly in his arms, realising that it was his arm around my waist.
"Fi-" I gasp when he suddenly pulls me closer, not letting me go and holding me tight. My hands rested on his chest as he laid his chin on top of my head, my cheeks flaring red at the fact we were sleeping together! My face was abnormally warm, hearing his heartbeat easily beneath the blanket that rested just above my nose. "Five." I whisper out, my voice suddenly disappearing as I looked up at him.
Fuck is he handsome.
The most gorgeous man I've ever seen in my entire life!
He slept soundly like there were no worries on his mind, a peaceful look on his face. His long lashes rested gently against his cheeks, jawline sharp as always but there was a soft smile gracing his lips. It was a smile I've never seen before, like the one you unconsciously make when you reminisce about a happy memory.
"(y/n)..." My heart skips a beat, hearing my name escape his curled-up lips softly. I notice his eyes flutter a bit and I quickly close my eyes to pretend to sleep, relaxing in his arms. I hear Five sigh out softly, his fingers gently brushing my hair away from my face before he carefully got out of the bed like he didn't want to wake me up. He left me bundled up like a burrito under his blanket as he left to do god knows what. I peek an eye open to see the bedroom empty and I rub my eyes to get rid of the fatigue, yawning as I sit up when the bathroom door opens. "(Y/n)! You should go back to sleep." Five walks out all dressed in his uniform now, a worried look on his face while I just look around tiredly.
"I would love to do that but I have to be with you." I yawn again and he frowns as he walks up to me, trying to get me to lay back down on the bed.
"You didn't get enough sleep yesterday. You were crying." he says softly and I blink at him in confusion.
I was?
I feel my cheeks and feel the dry streaks on my cheeks, tears still in my eyes. "I don't remember having a nightmare." I furrow my brows wondering why I was crying. "Forget about that. Why was I in your bed?" Five gives me a pointed look.
"Did you really think I was going to let you sleep on the floor?"
"Yes actually." I chuckle as Five glares at me playfully. "Where are my clothes?" I look around trying to find them and the boy hands them to me along with my hoodie and track pants.
"I have no idea how but I was able to get Mom to wash your clothes for you." he says
"Yeah, I'm not questioning the logistics or lore behind this in your world." I shrug, jumping out of bed to freshen up for our new day of adventure.
