"Uh, meet back in the bar in two hours downstairs so we can make a plan." Five says and I knew he had the same idea as me when we both saw the bar before we got in the elevator cause shit, I need a fucking drink. I blush when I feel my boyfriend hold onto me tightly from behind, keeping me by him and I definitely knew he needed that drink.
We all walk out of the elevator when we arrive at our floor and Diego goes off at us. "I have a plan. We attack the Sparrows, and we take back our house, and then we punch Dad a bit until he admits that we're better and he loves us more! Boom! Done!"
"Diego, zip it! I ain't got the energy or the patience to deal ok. I need a fucking drink and a fucking shower." I hiss at him, taking the key from Allison to open our room.
"Relax. Don't sweat it, man. Those shit birds are staying put for a while. I bet they're as wiped as we are." Klaus persuades his brother and pulls him away to the guy's room. I let Allison and Vanya enter the room first when Five stops me, pulling me away to talk to me as he shuts the door.
"Five-"
"-baby, come here." he says softly as he pulls me by my hips, his fingers caressing my lower bare back. "Are you ok?" He holds my face as he looks over me with worry and I blink up at him with a flush.
"Love, I'm fine. Really." I hold his hands but he purses his lips like he doesn't believe me. "I'm just tired ok."
"That's not what I saw at the park. You look like you saw a ghost." I go rigid and my boyfriend narrows his eyes at me. "There was something, wasn't there? Sweetheart, you can tell me what's going on." He wraps his arms around my waist to hug me, kissing my forehead and I melt against him as I hold his blazer in my hands. I couldn't hide how I was feeling from him now that he knew something was up.
"Ok, yeah there's something going on. But can I tell you after I get all cleaned up?"
"(y/n)-"
"-please. I promise you. I just really need to take this shit off me." I scratch my arms, frustrated with the bandages and my little assassin stops me, holding my wrists.
"I'll get you fresh bandages ok. We need to change those and you need to rest." I nod and Five lets me go as I step back.
"I'll see you in a few then?" I ask and he nods.
"I'll bring some new clothes for you ok." Five says with a smile. "Let's unpack, settle in..." he strokes my cheek and I blush brighter.
"Five, you do realise we don't actually have anything to unpack right?" my little assassin chuckles softly.
"It's liberating, isn't it sweetheart?" he winks and I roll my eyes with a smile.
"Yeah, yeah. I need to go love."
Before I could walk away, Five steals a quick kiss from me and teleports away. I smile happily as I touch my lips, walking back to the girl's bedroom and slipping in before closing the door. Vanya and Allison both groan out in relief when they drop onto their beds and I move to go straight for the bathtub in the bathroom, grabbing a fresh towel and locking the door.
"Thank fuck!" I groan out from the hot water filling the tub and I hear Vanya laughing at my remark.
"How's the room (y/n)?" She calls back.
"Amazing! There's bubble soap here!" She laughs happily from my excitement as I pour the soap into the bathtub. I sat against the edge after stripping off my clothes, turning the faucet off and looking into the mirror just in front of me. I wince at the bloody bandages that were around my limbs while trying to unwrap them, sighing in relief from the comfort of being free. The bandages fell one by one to the floor but I froze when I saw what was underneath.
My heart raced in fear at the dark vines that crawled and moved over my wounded skin, my arms shaking when all my wounds were suddenly healed.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT IN MY SKIN!?
I let out a shrill scream when I felt the vines dig deeper into my skin and then suddenly travel up my face before disappearing. I rub my eyes when I see my eyes flash dark in the mirror before it goes clear and I pant out, quickly standing up to look around wondering what the fuck those dark vines were. I pat my arms and look around my body to see everything normal but that didn't stop the sinking feeling in my stomach when I slowly turned back to look at the mirror.
"(y/n)!" I hear Five's voice behind the door but I stumble back when I see a dark shadowy figure standing in the mirror in front of me. "(y/n)! Are you ok!?" The figure smiled wickedly and I was frozen in my spot when I watched its hands move forward to hold the corner of the mirror, its claws digging through until it crept over the actual frame to crawl out. "(y/n)!" Five bangs on the door but I was frozen in fear when this thing quickly flew out of the mirror and towards me. I close my eyes with a scream, gasping for air when I feel biting cold winds rip through my body and I shriek as I fall back into the tub. "That's it! I'm coming in!"
"Don't!" I scream out, breathing rapidly as I snap my head around but everything went back to normal.
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAUNTING ME!?
"(y/n) are you ok!?" Five yells out.
"Yeah... I'm fine. I-I just slipped on the mat." I breathe out, settling properly in the bathtub with a pained hiss.
"...Ok... I'm outside with the bandages and your clothes." I don't say anything, rushing to get clean and just get out of the bathroom as quickly as I can. I wash up quickly and wrap the towel around me, peeking my head out past the bathroom door to see it empty of the sisters and my boyfriend. I rub my forehead, trying to process what happened but I just go to my bed where Five had set some clothes for me. I quickly change, drying my hair with the towel when the door opens and I see my little assassin walk in.
"Five-"
"-are you ok!? I heard you screaming! I know you said you slipped but are you ok? And your wounds are they-" he stops when he sees my arms. "-the fuck? Your wounds, they're all healed?" he gently takes my hands in his, running them over my arms to check that I was ok. "How?"
"I-I don't know." I run my fingers through my hair, pacing in front of Five before he holds my shoulders to stop me.
"Hey, let's just take a minute and then tell me what's happening." he pulls me down to sit next to him on the bed, holding my hands and kissing my knuckles.
"Something is haunting me." I blurt it out and my boyfriend just blinks at me, like he doesn't believe me.
Like who would!?
Supernatural and demons are not the genre of The Umbrella Academy.
Superheroes, sci-fi and time shit are what the show is about, not ghosts or demons or supernatural beings that haunt people!
I mean, here Ben was a ghost but that is only because of Klaus' powers.
This is some conjuring shit going on!
"When did you first see this thing haunting you?" Five asks and I rub my neck, trying to remember.
"After I got knocked out from the explosion, during that fight with the Sparrows... Sloane had me in a gravity hold when I tried to get to Vanya and some dark shadow or something knocked into her to drop me. I saw it attack the Sparrows and then I saw it again in the park. It's just lurking in the corner of my eyes, it's there and it looks familiar."
"You saw it in the bathroom now too, didn't you?" I nod and my little assassin furrows his brows in worry, grabbing my arms to inspect it. "Whatever this thing is, healed you for some reason."
"It's not a good thing that's haunting me... It doesn't feel right. Whatever this thing is... it's not kind." I shudder, remembering its haunting red eyes.
"You said it looked familiar?" Five pushes and I shrug.
"I don't know, it felt familiar, maybe looked familiar. I don't know. I don't want to think about it." I sigh out, standing up and I look at my little assassin. He was thinking but most importantly, he still didn't know if he believed me and that ticked me off. "You know what, forget about it." I roll my eyes, ready to drink. "I'm probably going crazy or something from exhaustion. I'm probably just seeing things! Or that nutcase Jayme spat on me and I didn't know it!" I throw my hands up and my boyfriend gets up.
"(y/n), no I do be-"
"-I'm just gonna go to the bar. What's the best way to forget about things in your life? Drink!" I exclaim and leave the bedroom, going for the elevator and pressing the button before the doors open.
"(y/n) wait! I don't think that's a good idea-"
"-I'll see you downstairs Five." I get in the elevator and the doors close in front of him when he teleported to me, going down to the lobby area. As soon as I step out, I see Vanya walking towards me, waving me over frantically. "Hey, what's up?"
"Come with me. I'm going to go see the Sparrows-"
"-are you crazy!? You're walking to your death right now! Why!?" I exclaim and she shushes me quickly, looking around to make sure none of the siblings are around.
"I know I can get them to come to a civilised agreement. At least with their leader."
"I mean... you did wipe 'em with one swoop. We could use that to scare them..." I mumble out. "I don't know... I can't fight Vanya, I don't even know why you need me."
"Please, I just... need to know someone is there... that I'm not wrong in thinking this could work."
"I'll come with you, pretty sure you can handle this but I'll go." I nod, walking off and snatching a leather jacket from one of the costume racks a bellboy was moving. "We'll walk somewhere crowded and get an Uber from there so the Academy doesn't track us back to the hotel."
Vanya and I weave through the crowd of people who were screaming, all standing in front of the Sparrow Academy house like some fan club. I grimace at the towel that was thrown over the edge and landed in front of these girls who dived for it, Vanya and I looking up at the building to see Marcus. We knew he could see us, the ones in black amongst a crowd of red. I lowered my hood and I see the Sparrow Leader tense up immediately, making me raise a brow.
Odd reaction to seeing me.
Vanya and I leave, heading to the coffee shop near us and we sit at a booth. We waited and heard the doorbell ring before we saw Marcus walk up to sit on the opposite side of our booth. "I'm glad we're doing this." he waves over to a server to order us coffee, barely making eye contact with me. "Whatever happens between our two families, the Number Ones should orchestrate it."
"I'm number Seven, actually." Vanya clears her throat, thanking the server when they place our drinks down and I just lean back in my seat to watch Marcus.
Why won't he look at me?
"Well, then somebody screwed up." he says, drinking his coffee.
"My brothers think you're gonna come after us." Vanya says
"We don't want a war. We're done fighting. They have been fighting for their lives for too long." I pipe up and Marcus furrows his brows at us.
"We've lost enough." Vanya agrees.
"Then you shouldn't have attacked us in our own home."
"Who was it again that called me a bitch." I hissed, knowing this started because of Ben.
"Look, this isn't personal, but we're the only superhero game in town. We have this place under complete control. But if your people start taking shots at us, it will give the sheep ideas."
"We won't. That's-"
"-and I'm just supposed to take your word on that?" Marcus cuts Vanya off and I'm lost for words at the fact he called the civilians sheep. "For your whole family? You're not even their Number One."
"And that matters why?" I scoff but the Sparrow kid in front of me just ignores me.
"I'm sorry but I can't risk that. So if you came here to beg me not to make the next move..." Marcus sighs, moving to get up but Vanya stops him.
"I came here to tell you mine." I hold her hand that quickly held mine beneath the table. "Tomorrow morning, when your busloads of fans show up, I'm gonna be there on your front lawn, and I'm gonna call you out for a fight just you and me." Marcus scoffs.
I look around when I notice the lights start to flicker and that catches his attention. "Why?"
"Because your team is good." the familiar whistling and the buzzing pick up. "Better than mine maybe." I hear the lights start to rattle and a low rumbling echoing through the building that gets Marcus to look lowkey scare, and me, proud of Vanya. "But I don't think you're better than me, Marcus. I ended the world, twice." the cups start to rattle which starts Marcus. "And you? You're just meat in spandex. And I bet you don't want the whole world watching when I prove that to you." Marcus stops his cup from rattling and I just pick up mine to take a sip, squeezing Vanya's hand to let her know how proud I was.
"What do you really want?"
"You have something we need, and we want it back."
"A briefcase." I mutter and the Sparrow Leader finally looks at me.
