I look at Five as he told Vanya what happened to him in the apocalypse, frowning at how his hands started to shake before grabbing his cup of coffee to brace himself. He takes a sip while he stops his leg from bouncing up and down rapidly, wincing at the now cold brew. He sets his cup down, asking his sister if he had anything stronger to take his mind off the harsh memories.

"Yeah, yeah..." Vanya stands up to look in her kitchen.

"Do you have vodka?" she jumps almost three feet in the air and I quickly apologise for scaring her since I had been quiet the entire time.

"It's ok." she says, handing Five a glass of whiskey and setting down a glass of vodka.

"Are you even legal to drink?" the boy asks me as I take a copy of the glass, easily downing the entire thing in one go and he looks at me in shock.

"Been drinking since I was 15. Didn't care about being legal and shit." I sigh out, wincing from the taste but humming from the heat warming me up from the inside. Vanya narrows her brows as she looks at her phone in confusion. "It's weird I know. A random girl speaking to you like this. Like Five said, he accidentally brought me to your universe." I answer her and she gasps in shock.

"Wait, you're from another universe!?"

"I am yeah. One where there are no superheroes or kids with powers." Vanya nods slowly, looking at Five and he rolls his eyes.

"You think I'm crazy." he scoffs, knowing the look on his sister's face.

"No! It's just-" she stammers.

"-it's a lot to take in. I'm sorry about that. I unloaded a shit tonne on you Vanya even after Five explained what's going on." I say, leaning against a wall as I held my phone to talk to her. "But it is true... The apocalypse is coming." I look at her grimly as she stared at her phone, still unsure and Five grew agitated.

"What exactly don't you understand?"

He was losing his temper. "Five, chill." He glares at me and I narrow my eyes back at him.

"Why didn't you just time travel back." Vanya asks and her brother scoffs at the idea.

"Gee, wish I'd thought of that." Five snaps backs. "Time travel is a crapshoot."

"Yeah, you went into the ice and never acorn-ed." I snicker and he turns to look at me with an annoyed look on his face. His sister peers past him to where I would be standing before he turns to face her again.

"You think I didn't try everything to get back to my family?" he hisses, downing the drink and slamming the glass on the table and he lets out a shaky breath.

Vanya opens her mouth to ask the next question but I quickly cut her off. "Five got his equations wrong, that's why he looks like a young adult. He should be in his 58-year-old body but something went wrong." she nods slowly, turning to her brother who went to grab the bottle of whiskey to pour some more for himself.

"Dad used to always say that... time travel could mess up your mind..." I lean off the wall after Vanya said that, walking towards Five quickly to stop him from drinking so much.

"Don't... drinking won't make you forget." I cover his glass from his view and he grinds his jaw.

"At least it gives me some temporary relief." he gives me a weak smile, moving to down another glass.

"Five-"

"-this was a mistake." he moves away from me and even though I know he was responding back to Vanya, it felt like he had contempt for me. "You're too young... too naive." he quickly heads for the front door but Vanya quickly begs him to stay.

"I haven't seen you in a long time, and I don't want to lose you again." he falters when he hears that, looking at the door and then at her but steps away hesitantly as she fixes up the coach for him to sleep on. I put my hoodie back on, feeling a sudden chill as Vanya promises Five that they will talk again in the morning. I suddenly yawn out, feeling tired as sleep clawed at me and she looks at her phone. "See, even (y/n) is tired. Just stay the night... please." he nods and she smiles, saying goodnight to the both of us. "Night Vanya." I end the call on her phone and she walks off to her bedroom, dropping myself down on the couch as I struggled to keep my eyes open.

Five sits next to me on the couch and I rest my head in my palm as I held it up with my elbow against my leg. "Not much of a sleeper are you?" I yawn and look over to see him take out the glass eye from his pocket, looking at the company name on the back.

"I have more serious matters to attend to." he gets up and I follow suit until he stops me. "You should rest if you're tired." I shake my head, rubbing my eyes. "(y/n)-"

"-I'll sleep in the car. Plus, whos going to be there to make sure you don't get in trouble?" I smile at Five and he chuckles lowly, nodding before we both get up to leave. He quietly unlocks the front door for me, letting me past and out into the hallway before he closes it behind him. We walk down the empty corridor to the elevator on the other end, pressing the button when we get there and waiting for the doors to open.

"How much do you know?" Five suddenly asks when he breaks the silence and I look up at him, the both of us getting into the elevator. He tensed up immediately when the doors close, his hands shoved in his pockets and looking at everything except for me making me frown.

"You really want to know?" I ask him and he nods slowly. "Everything. The bitch of a Handler. The apocalypse and how she's not stopping it. You working for The Commission and being their best hitman. Breaking your contract with them-"

"-how are you not disgusted by that?" he grits his teeth, looking ashamed as he stepped away from me. "Disgusted by me? You know I've killed people, thousands of people... murdered, betrayed, manipulated, controlled..." he flinches when I move to hold his arm, thankfully I was solid enough for him to feel that I wasn't terrified. "I've spilt blood (y/n)... my hands are eternally stained-" his breath hitches when I take hold of his hand between my own, patting the back of it gently.

"Why would I be disgusted? You saw the apocalypse and you needed to save your family and the world. Five, The Commission made you do all those things. You had to do it, you had no other choice. You needed a way to escape and that was your only way out. I would never be disgusted by you Five. You love your family. You went through the apocalypse to survive and come back to them... You went through so much that no one should ever go through... being alone for so many years..."

"(y/n)..." Five sighs out, shaking his head like he couldn't believe those words and quickly walks out of the elevator when the doors open. I quickly stop him when we got outside, standing in front of him.

"Why risk everything at The Commission? You were living peacefully in that wretched place. They gave you a chance to retire at The Commission if you turned a blind eye to the apocalypse but you couldn't take it, wouldn't. You sacrificed your one chance for a normal life to come back and save your family. You gave up so much... too much..." Five looks at me with wide eyes and I notice his tense body break as his eyes glazed over in tears. His body slumps over with the weight of the world resting on his shoulders and he looks down at his shoes. I wanted to pull him into a hug but I didn't want to overstep my boundaries, just patting his hand softly.

"(y/n)..."

"Hey. It's ok. Remember, I know everything. It's going to be ok in the end." he looks at me and nods, wiping his tears away with a small smile on his face.

"Thank you..." I beam up at him before we head back to the car, him opening the door for me so I could get in. He jumps into his seat, getting the address for MeriTech on my phone as we buckled up.

"There's nothing to thank me for. I'm just stating the facts Five. That's something I admire about you." I smile and he looks at me with wide eyes. He looks away and revs the engine quickly, driving off away from Vanya's apartment and following the directions on my phone. I rest against the seat, sighing out as sleep claws at me once again when I close my eyes.

"Hey (y/n)." Five mumbles quietly and I hum in response. "You never did tell me how you know everything." I peek an eye open and I see Five staring down at the road.

I can't tell him that his whole life is just a TV show.

He would be so devastated and violated.

I hum out again, pretending to fall asleep. I hear him sigh out and I soon start to actually nod off to sleep. Everything quietens out and before I completely knock off, I hear Five speak to me in the most softest and caring voice ever.

"Thank you for being here. I don't know what I would've done without you (y/n)..."

I groan out softly as I slowly wake up, my hand feeling suddenly numb with a cramp forming on my side from sleeping in an uncomfortable position. I feel someone brush their fingertips against my cheek, whatever hair that was on my face moved to behind my ear.

Their touch makes me wake up completely. "Fuck, my hands." I open my eyes, looking down and trying to flex my fingers. Slight panic sets in, not feeling my hands and I see another pair of hands grab mine. I look up in surprise to see Five smirking slightly, pressing my hands between his fingers until I could feel them again.

"Morning sleepy head." He lets me go and stares down at me, his face leaning extremely close to mine. His hair was slightly messed up, a glint in his green eyes from the sun that shone through the window.

I don't know if I'm blushing or not but I wouldn't be surprised if I am.

He's really beautiful...

I blink up at him and sit up straight, leaning back away from him. "What-" I look down to see Five's blazer wrapped around me and my shoes taken off as they lay on the floor of the car. "-when did you-"

"-you got cold during the night so I gave you my blazer."

"Oh. Thank you." I look away from the boy's smirking face and see that we were parked in front of MeriTech, the place where the eyeball was made.

"You know, you make a lot of noises while you sleep." I freeze in my seat, eyes wide as I turn to look at Five sitting next to me in the car.

Well, shit.

"Sorry if I started snoring. That only happens if I'm sick."

"Don't worry, they were cute noises." he shrugs like it was no big deal, getting out of the car.

Excuse me what now!?

He opens my door and I look at him in shock. "Well, are you getting out or what?" Five snickers and I nod. I give him his blazer back and put on my combat shoes before jumping out of the car. "Wait, let me." he bends down and quickly ties my shoelaces and I mumble thanks when he's done.

What is going on with him!?

"Let's go. We have an apocalypse to stop."
