Deadlines,

Maybe one day my alarm would wake me up instead of phone calls. Today was not today even though I desperately needed some more sleep. noises made it out of my mouth as my body flung over and grabbed at the device sitting on my nightstand.

"Hello?" my voice cracked as my eyes struggled to open up.

"Audrey. Sorry to wake you so early but this is sadly time sensitive," I recognized my agents voice despite my state of mind. I also probably could've looked at the caller ID.

"Yeah sure what's up?" I forced my body vertical, my agent was great at talking with me so if she was calling me about stuff then it was probably important.

"I got a call from the publisher company and they have a second option," her voice cut off quickly, a hint of worry sitting underneath her professional tone.

"What does that mean for me?" my mind was alert now. This was one of my main sources of income and this didn't sound like a positive thing.

"They gave you a time limit of a week before they drop you-"

"Drop me?!" I screeched, apologizing right after for my abrupt loudness.

"Yes. You will lose the deal if they don't get a draft. They have someone who's almost done with theirs and is ready to sign on. It won't be easy to find another company in this day and age so I beg of you to consider the importance of this," her voice was subtle but she understood that a week was not a lot of time.

"No I understand. I don't know where the time went to be honest," my words mumbled out. I threw myself up and began pacing my bedroom, the best way to get stress out.

"Have you started?

"I've had an incomplete draft for a while but this book isn't normal. It's dark and definitely not categorized as a heart felt fantasy," I finally admitted, I had been pouring a lot of emotion into this one and didn't really think it was appropriate.

"Usually I would say try something else and stick to what they know but this time constraint isn't gonna allow that. Stick to it and make it the most heart wrenching book you can," she demanded.

"Okay. I'll keep you updated," I plopped onto my bed feeling defeated, they could reject this book in the end anyways.

I was going to have to spend every second I could outside of photography to get this draft up to first draft standards. It was still pretty thrown together. Tugging a different shirt over my head I moved out of my bedroom to get myself some necessary caffeine. This was going to be a long week.

I had situated myself in front of my desk to get something done before I had to head out for some photo shoots. The only issue with being productive was I had nothing going on in my brain. I couldn't push myself to improve my writing. It was at the point I felt like a statue with how long I stared at the document containing my story.

Giving up for a "break" I decided to do my own research for something else. I probably should've felt stupid as I typed in his name. No surprise that it popped up his bio information and website first. His birthday wasn't close to mine but it was nice to know we were only a couple years off for age, him being older.

I clicked on images and found my page full of photos of him, well dressed and it looked like they were paparazzi photos. As a photographer I hated those demons, they lacked human decency and couldn't even give these people privacy or let them exist outside.

Scrolling a little further I found numerous photos of him with girls, no surprise the paparazzi would get these. I didn't know anything about his personal life but I wonder if there was anyone or any history I needed to compete with? Not like it should matter but I already was focused on this guy more than I should be. Falling head first never was a good idea and I had straight dived into this situation.

Before I knew it I wanted to fall under a rock. If I do have to compete, I was already losing. These girls all looked like, and probably were, models. I didn't mind my figure but I certainly didn't actively work on it, my schedule at this time of year wouldn't allow it.

I called up Laura again hoping to vent as I felt drowned and my week had just started. "Hello!" her voice sang through the speaker.

"Save me," I begged as I spun in my desk chair.

"What happened now?" she sighed, windy noises were behind her so I was sure she was headed somewhere.

"I have to finish my novel by the end of the week and all I've done is kill my self esteem by looking up pictures of Harry with other girls," I whined back at her, my sanity felt like it was on the verge.

"First, he's flying you out! Who cares who else is in his life. Second, a week? where'd that come from?

"The publisher got another deal and if I can't follow through they'll drop me," it felt like everything was in slow motion with all the drama happening.

"Wow that's harsh," her voice dropped a little as she realized the predicament.

"Yeah tell me about it. Plus all I have is something way out of my usual," I admitted.

"You mean that book about you know who? Won't they reject it?"

"Probably," sighing I stopped my chair to stare back at the paparazzi pictures that sat in front of me.

"Honestly just do the best you can and close out of those stupid pictures. Celebrities get caught with family friends and are accused of dating don't think much of it," she was more into celebrities than I ever had been so she knew what she was talking about.

"Thanks I'll see how long that lasts," if she was in front of me I would stick my tongue out at her.

"Good luck!" she screamed as the wind increased behind her and the phone shut off. She must be in the city today, if only she went when Christian and I went.

Turning back to my computer, I slammed my head into my desk and let my body sag. What is the universe doing to me?

Note

A little more backstory, I'll make it juicier soon don't worry! This is a slow paced romance, but there will be intense scenes I promise :)
