Were the centre
Of my solar system,
Until you tried to escape it.

Then the sun that held it together
Disappeared,
And the whole thing fell apart

(and so did I)

Because without your gravity
Without your burning light
Without an axis
What would this small segment
Of our vast universe be?

(What would I be?)

But in a way
The planets hold the sun captive
As much as the sun holds them too.

It's stuck in between
Nowhere to go
Nowhere to hide
It's stuck holding everything together.

No wonder you wanted to leave.

I suppose the consequences
were too inconsequential
For you to think twice about imploding.

I suppose you thought
The solar system could find another Sun,
Didn't you?

There might be hundreds
of other stars in the sky
But none of them could ever
Hold this solar system together
The way its sun did.

There could never be another.

So I fell apart.
I'm just floating in nothingness now
And I will
Forever.

There's no putting myself back together.
