to the translators: SORRY IF THIS CHAPTER IS LONG! feel free to cut it into parts, or take your time :) btw, jimin's 21 in this, while yoongi's 24. yay.

warning: mentioned self-harm injuries and such

"yoongi," the said male's girlfriend whines as she snuggles against his arm. getting no response, she gets comfortable once more, calling out his name.

but not a single word came out of yoongi, the only sound in the room being the constant tapping on his phone. frowning, his girlfriend snatches the phone away.

"give that back!" yoongi immediately yells, making her expression falter for a second.

she puts down the phone to the side, before turning to him with a glare. "what is going on?" she says, exasperatedly. "it's like your girlfriend doesn't even exist anymore," she says lowly, watching as yoongi flinches. "god, why are you so obsessed with this jimin guy!"

yoongi narrows his eyes at her. "what?"

"what do you mean, what." she laughs, "all you've been doing for the past few weeks... you just keep on calling this dude! you never have time for me and all our date nights just... go completely wrong! you're always so distracted! are you really cheating on me? is that it?!"

"you don't understand," yoongi muttered, "his contact's been deleted for no reason... i'm trying to get it back. he could be hurting himself right now. i need to make sure he's—"

"who cares about him?" she screams.

"i do." yoongi fights back, "i'm his friend, i have to know if he's okay." he looks at his phone worriedly. "you just... you don't understand. this is serious, and i—"

she huffs. "maybe it was right of me to delete his contact."

yoongi looks up at her.

he snaps.

immediately grabbing a hold of her arm, he pins her against the couch, receiving a whine of pain. gritting his teeth, yoongi spoke with anger clear in his tone of voice, "what did you say to him?" he tightens his hold, glaring at the girl. "what did you do."

"let go, yoongi!" she yells, and yoongi stares at her for a bit longer, before letting her arm go and getting up.

yoongi's breathing quickens. "he's— god." he runs his fingers through his own black hair, staring down at his girlfriend. "you shouldn't have done that." he mumbles.

and this woman— this damn woman— has the nerve to send him a smile. "too late, honey."

yoongi looks at her, face blank. "we're over."

she doesn't even flinch. instead, she laughs, "i guess he's always been more important, huh?"

yoongi doesn't say anything.

rubbing the spot on her arm that yoongi had held onto, she smiles and crosses her legs. "you really like him..."

yoongi picks his phone up. "i don't..." he frowns, "i don't like him that way."

he watches as a smirk makes its way to her lips.

"that's what he told me, too."

his gaze stays on her for a brief moment, before he wordlessly walks out of the apartment, footsteps quickening with every step he made.

only then does the girl sigh when she hears the sound of the door closing echo through the apartment.

— — —

"why are you so nervous, jiminie?" jeongguk asks, raising an eyebrow at the sight of his hyung tugging on his arm, almost bringing him down. no matter how hard he tries, he couldn't escape the jimin's grasp.

jimin, to his close friends, was generally a clingy person. but he wasn't this clingy, and with that worried look on jimin's face, jeongguk figures that jimin's nervous about something...

taehyung, who's walking in front of them, pipes in, "i guess it's because the bar's a public place?" he suggests, pushing through the doors, letting the cold air of the club hit the three of them. for a moment, he grins back at the two. "if not, it's probably that guy he calls on the phone all the time."

"ooooh?" jeongguk looks at jimin, who just looks down shyly. "why haven't i heard about this?!"

"the dude's his little secret," taehyung snickers, before looking forward and immediately spotting a familiar face. "hyung!" he calls, but instead runs over and nearly tackles an orange haired male into a hug.

the new face just pats him on the back with a laugh. jimin follows after jeongguk, the two of them standing behind taehyung who quickly introduces them.

"ah, these are my friends, jeongguk and jimin." taehyung smiles.

hoseok looks at each of two. "nice to meet you both." he nods.

jeongguk lets out a small smile, "likewise." while jimin just gives out a silent nod.

hoseok's gaze lingers on jimin for a few more seconds, before he grins at all three of them and shows them to their table. jimin sits between the two of his friends, while hoseok decides to be beside taehyung.

they talk for a little while, until a certain purple haired male makes his way to their table, receiving a wave from hoseok. "ah, you guys must be..."

"taehyung!"

"i'm jeongguk."

jimin stays silent, receiving a curious stare from the purple haired male.

jeongguk laughs lightly. "jiminie over here is a bit shy..." he explains.

the male and hoseok exchange a look.

coughing, the male turns back to the three. "that's okay," he says, "i'm namjoon. and... ah."

unexpectedly, a voice comes from behind their booth. it's smooth, a bit low, but not lower than namjoon's. it sends shivers down jimin's spine, making his breath hitch as well. he feels his heart race...

"sorry i'm late."

it can't be...

hoseok looks behind them, and namjoon does as well. "yoongi," hoseok greets.

...it can't be...

the introductions are quick. jimin, once more, doesn't say anything. the other four begin to chat, though... yoongi still hasn't spoken a word. jimin finds himself looking back, only to let out a small squeak at the sight of yoongi still standing there, looking curiously at jimin, eyes directly on him.

jeongguk immediately turns to jimin, a bit startled. he looks at yoongi apologetically. "he's... shy." jimin looks down at his own lap, avoiding yoongi's lingering stare.

yoongi nods. "that's fine." he stands up straight, clearing his throat. "any drinks for you guys? i'm getting quite a few, so." he smiles.

"what's the occasion?" jeongguk asks curiously.

yoongi shrugs. "a breakup."

jimin frowns at that. while the other three lists of a few drinks (taehyung only gets one— it's a sunday and he's got early classes tomorrow), jimin tugs on jeongguk's sleeve. jeongguk turns to him with a hum.

"bathroom." jimin whispers, jeongguk almost can't hear him through the music. but the younger nods, excusing the both of them.

jimin practically drags him into the bathroom, jeongguk almost struggling to follow.

"what's up?" jeongguk says, a bit confused.

jimin frowns, looking away. "that guy..."

"uh... yoongi-ssi?" jeongguk asks, figuring that he'd been referring to yoongi, since he noticed how jimin got a little startled back at the booth. "what about him?"

"he's... he's the guy i talk with on the phone."

jeongguk's eyes widen in surprise. "wh—"

jimin looks up at him. "don't tell him it's me."

jeongguk decides not to argue with jimin— he doesn't want to pressure his hyung or anything like that. he knows how... 'fragile' jimin was. but either way, he decides to question it harmlessly. "why not, hyung?"

"his girlfriend..." jimin sighs, "his girlfriend told me not to answer his calls... i guess that includes not talking to him outside of the phone calls..."

"the hell?" jeongguk frowns. a controlling bitch— he's obviously never met yoongi's girlfriend, but from jimin's words, he could already tell how bad her motives were, probably even her personality. "wait," jeongguk says, "didn't yoongi-ssi say something about a breakup?"

jimin looks up at him, a glint of realization in his eyes. but then, disappointment takes over. "just... please don't, jungkookie..." he mutters, "he'll— he'll worry about me again..."

"because he's your friend?" jeongguk assumes, "i mean, hyung, i don't know how long you two have been talking, but isn't the breakup a bit too... timed well?"

"what do you mean...?"

jeongguk sighs. "when did the girlfriend bitch at you?"

jimin flinches at the word, but answers nonetheless. "two days ago? i don't—"

"and he just broke up with her!" jeongguk exclaims. "there's clearly something going on here. what if he broke up with her because— i don't know, he found out about her telling you to back off?"

jimin lets out a small whine, "jeongguk..."

"okay, okay," jeongguk rolls his eyes, "i won't say anything." he looks at jimin, "but trust me, hyung. it's been two days, but i feel like he's already wondering why you haven't been calling or answering his calls."

jimin sorta frowned at the first part. he didn't often call yoongi— it was more of the other way around. so, jimin's been wondering why yoongi hasn't been calling him. but with the way his girlfriend was so aggressive about the whole thing, he probably figures that she did something to his phone. either way, he decided to comply with the girlfriend's request, so he'd decline any calls anyway.

"she probably deleted me on his phone..." he tells jeongguk with a weak shrug, who looks beyond offended at the thought of that woman deleting jimin's contact for her personal gain, perhaps even because of jealousy. "...he's probably worried about me."

"which is why you should tell hiiiiim!" jeongguk says in a somewhat sing-song tone.

jimin was unsure. a part of him did want to speak to yoongi, but something... held him back. maybe it was the yoongi-being-worried part. but that wouldn't make sense. or maybe...

he looks down at his long sleeves, covering his arms, all the way to his wrists. he thinks of the fresh cuts underneath, the ones over his wrists.

...maybe he just didn't want yoongi to see him.

of course, he's seen jimin today, but he doesn't know it's him and jimin can only imagine the reactions yoongi would have if he finds out that jimin's the one behind the phone calls. maybe yoongi wouldn't expect a person like jimin to be the one behind it. maybe his looks wouldn't be enough?

his unattractive face with the dark circles under his eyes... his boring personality that wasn't on the phone...

...and his scars...

jeongguk looks at jimin for a while, the older looking quite troubled. he sighs, "you're hurting yourself, jimin."

jimin could only reply with a sad smile and a silent, "i know."

(my writing's getting shitty wtf)

eventually, jeongguk and jimin decide to leave early, leaving taehyung with his three hyungs.

taehyung found himself constantly zoning out on his drink. he hears the faint conversation between hoseok and namjoon.

"yeah, seokjin's been really focused on work lately..."

"hah! namjoon's not getting some ass."

after a while, taehyung's gaze goes over to yoongi, who's been drinking a shit ton. he's on his, what, sixth drink? they're all quite strong ones, no doubt that he'll be having trouble getting home later on.

"hey, yoongi hyung," taehyung starts, and yoongi hums, putting his drink down. "why are you drinking so much?"

yoongi sighs. "like i said, a breakup." he scratches the back of his head, "and some... problems with a friend..." he gets up, "i'm gonna go get more drinks." he stumbles his way through the crowd, earning three worried looks.

"oh, yeah," namjoon starts, glancing at hoseok, who gives him a subtle nod. "his now ex girlfriend? total hoe. hyung broke up with her... because, uh... you see, yoongi's been talking to this guy... and she's, man, she's way too jealous. she ended up deleting the guy's contact on yoongi's phone. and now, he's trying to get the contact back. she even deleted the log! he'll probably manage, but..." he shrugs, "it was a bitchy move."

taehyung frowns. "that's... mean."

hoseok nods in agreement, taking a sip of his drink as namjoon and he stare at each other.

they're both thinking of the same thing.
