5: Trouble
Now locked together in both shock and embarrassment, Aaron and Aphmau look at the professor that burst into their room uninvited.
Aaron tries to get off her, but in a panic he only succeeds to make the already fuming professor ready to erupt like a green volcano.
"WELL?!" The professor let's out an unholy screech at such a high decibel it makes Aaron wince.
"Professor, we were just goofing off, she tried to take my spot in the couch." Aphmau pokes her head from the couch and nods in agreement, her ribs still sore and throat raw from laughing.
"Is that so?! Well, how about I go look at the footage from the cameras, huh?!" The professors voice begs Aaron to argue, but he knows if he does, they'll definitely get in trouble.
But, at the moment, he is a little braver than usual, so he tries to make a remark, and seem respectful at the same time.
"Sure, go ahead. But there aren't any cameras in the room, and we haven't left." Aaron crosses his arms as his blood starts to boil, an old beast lifting it's head.
The professor starts to open his mouth, then suddenly growls in defeat, as Headmaster Forestter makes an announcement over the intercom:
Attention all students, your schedules are being brought up now, and Professor Green, stop harassing students and report to the front lobby.
Huffing and not hiding his displeasure, Professor Green gives them a stern lecture on personal space, and leaves, his coat whirling behind him and yellow goggles bouncing on his head.
"That was too close." Aaron sighs in relief as the door sways a little on it's hinges, knocked a little loose from Professer Green's entrance, it creaks in longing to be shut again, which Aaron quickly does.
"Yeah, That was.... Exciting." Aphmau chuckles breathlessly, enjoying her new spot on the couch, and closing her eyes for a brief moment.
"Scoot over, give me some room." Aphmau feels his presence near her head so she lifts it, letting him sit before gently putting her head back down on his lap.
"Comfy? You should be after you took my spot." He plays with her hair absentmindedly, more because it's there and less because he actually knows what he's doing.
"Mm-hmmm." She hums, watching a random add for allergy medicine zip across the television screen, and enjoying the feeling of Aaron there with her.
She will never admit it, but being with him makes her feel safe, he is well-built, and very strong, then again, his hands are definitely getting rougher from hard labor.
She grabs his hand, mulling over it's callused surface with her own, soft tiny ones, Aaron raises his brow curiously, lacing his fingers with her own.
"You having fun with my fingers?" He asks, chuckling lightly and trying to annoy her by crushing his palm against her fingers.
"You... Your hands. How do you get rough hands by being a night guard." Her face gets red as he plays with her fingers, and presses his palm into hers.
"I worked at the warehouse, lifting boxes and stuff, then worked on my uncles farm, that was fun." He stats listing the jobs he's held over three years, they are numerous, each one making Aphmau's face fall further into a frown.
"Did you quit? Or-" Aaron her off by letting out a quick forced laugh. Looking at her with a stony face.
"No, I was fired. Every. Single. Time." His grip tightens in her hand, and she looks up with sympathy, her eyes twinkling up at him.
"Do you think it's because-" He stops her again, chuckling to himself.
"Of what I am? Maybe, maybe not, it doesn't matter." He finishes, looking sadly at his best friend, but it slowly breaks into a smile.
"No, it doesn't, I'll still be here." Aphmau cuddles into his side, her face hot, and it gets even hotter when she's wrapped into a strong hug.
"I know you will."
"It's everyone else that's up for debate" Aaron thinks to himself, and sighs, his face red with honeyglow.
"I don't care what you are Aaron. I care who you are." Aphmau smiles and is surprised when she feels his head laying on hers, and his arms wrapped around her.
"Uh! Aaron what are you doing?" Her face is hot and her heart is pumping out of her chest, her hair stands on end as she feels his hot breath on the back of her neck.
"You don't know how much you mean to me." He whispers just loud enough for her to hear, he would let his ears poke out of his hair if he didn't know that anyone could come in at any moment.
Aphmau sighs and leans back into him, with a defeated and frustrated glare on her face. Crossing her arms and pouting.
"You're lucky I don't hit you." Aaron chuckles and glances at the clock, seven thirty, he needs to head out to work, unfortunately.
"Well, I'm about to go to a worse hell then that." He points at the clock, and Aphmau sighs with him, and raises herself up
So he could leave.
"Drive safe, call me when you get there." She says absentmindedly, her head falling on the soft, warm pillow.
"I will, I'll be back at six." He glances back at her and feels a warmth crawl into his chest, it is nice to know someone cares about him, even if he is a werewolf.
"I might go over to Katelyn's and Kawaii~Chan's so don't freak out if I'm not here." Aphmau adds before he shuts the door behind him, strolling into the long hallway of the dorm wing.
Pulling up his hood he starts walking through the long halls and spiral stone staircases of the school, getting lost multiple times, but luckily, he knows a "short cut."
He phases through a wall that's not really a wall at all, and walks down a dark, torch lit staircase, it is one of the older parts of the school that students are forbidden to go, but he knew a safe way to come out.
At the end seems to be another wall, but he walk directly through it, coming out outside the school, he grins, glad that he found the route last year, he might show Aphmau, if they ever needed a quick getaway.
He sprints to his run down old faded grey pickup truck, and starts the engine, the engine whirls, then splutters to a stop, and he groans.
"Come on!" He tries again and it splutters and cries in protest before finally coming to life with a loud roar.
"There we go." He pulls out of the schools driveway and flicks his fuzzy radio on, some very heavy rock blasts through the vehicle, he twists the volume down a little.
It only takes about fifteen minutes to get to the strip club, Bella's, owned by a very nice gal, by the same name, she actually isn't as provocative as you might think, and one of the few people there that Aaron actually enjoys being around.
He pulls into the parking lot and gets there, right on time, as Bella greets him at the door, wearing a blue sundress to go with her long blonde hair and dull, grey eyes.
"You're later than usual, anything holding you up?" She asks, her light airy voice making his ears try to perk up.
"Yeah, I was, with a friend." He tries to dance around the subject, knowing that if Bella found out about Aphmau, he would never live it down.
"Oh, you were with a girl weren't you, is she pretty?" Groaning inwardly, he was always good at hiding his feelings, but not when it came to Aphmau.
"Yeah, I think so..." Why did he say that? He didn't mean to say that. What's wrong with him.
"Is it your girlfriend?" She lets the last word drag out as she smirks, having him cornered, and wanting to know who this girl is.
"No. We're just friends." He grabs his uniform and switches out his hoodie for the blue guard jacket with a shiny badge.
"But you want more, right?" She walks up next to him, grabbing his arm and letting her hot breath settle on his neck.
"You're high Bella, I can smell it on you." This is the catch he doesn't like about Bella, she can get higher than a skyscraper sometimes, and completely disregard his wishes to not be propositioned.
He brushes her off and walks inside, loosing her in the crowd of people.
