Chapter 3: I Could Be Your Best Friend, Or Your Worst Enemy
Cancer's POV:
"Ok, Anilara. What's your location?" Static. Damn kid. I thought. I waited a little bit and heard muffled yells and some serious talking. I tightened the dark brown leather cape hood that lay over my head, hiding my blinded right eye. I'd rather not talk about that accident. I walked calmly into an empty alley and called on Sylvia and Jalmik with the silvery white earpiece.
"Syl, Jalmik, 727," I said the code numbers in case anyone had suspicions about us. Static. I waited for a few seconds, still nothing reading in.
"624, Sylvia Harkens," Sylvia said through her head set/earpiece. "223, Jalmik Anji."
"Anilara, number 954, has been captured by another Jedi it seems. Do you have her location?" I asked, and I started walking towards the edge of the city. The Force was telling me something. Someone was out there, someone important. But it wasn't Anilara... could it be the one?
I had been told stories of the one, how he would come and bring the Jedi back into power, restore balance. "Location of 954, right in front of you, about two miles out, 727." Jalmik said, his rough accent breaking through.
"Thank you, 223. Meet me in me on the West side of town," I said. A small beep, then another, told me they understood and were on their way.
Ezra's POV:
Oh, God. I think I killed her. The girl I had just gotten into a small fight with was now lying on the ground, twitching. I thought I had set my blaster to stun, not kill. A groan escaped her mouth and I felt relief flood the unmeasurable weight of killing someone. I grabbed her hand and started pulling her through the grass.
"This... This isn't going to work," I said. I let her down and ran my hands through my dark hair. I guess there was no other way. I hauled her arms over my shoulders and dragged her towards the ship. It would be a lot easier if she didn't have that golden back armor on. But, whatever.
A few minutes later, we were back at the ship. "Kanan!" I called, irritated at the fact that I carried her all the way here. Kanan's dark green shirt was clearly visible in the shadow of the Ghost. And his expression wasn't too happy with me.
"Who... is that?" He asked, pointing to the girl. I shrugged and put her down. Sorry, I mean, I dropped her on the ground. Kanan's green eyes blazed anger and his mouth fell open. I walked away and let him look at her. "Well, she's with a group of some sort," he said, picking up a silvery white earpiece and tucked it in his pocket.
"Come on, let's get her in the Ghost!" I jumped and slung her right arm over my shoulders and helped Kanan bring her in.
Two hours later, we were in the main room where we ate. Hera, Sabine, Rex, and Zeb were there and we were all discussing what to do with the girl. "We can't just let her go, she may have been awake the whole time and know about our rebellion!" Zeb said. We all looked at each other, a smirk on our faces. "It's not like the Empire doesn't know about the rebellion already," Kanan said, his smirk turning to a laugh. Zeb growled and pounded his fist on the table.
"You know what I mean, Kanan." I smiled at him and he glared me down. Rex nodded. "She could know too much. But it does depend on who she's with. If she's with another rebellion group, which is a 60, 40 percent range, they could join us and the Fleet," he compromised. Hera nodded. Now that she was Commander of Phoenix squad, she could agree or disagree and her decision would be final.
A series of grumpy beeps and droid sounds echoed out of the halls of the Ghost. Hera jumped to her feet and ran to the pilot's seat. I glanced at Kanan, and he shrugged. "Intruders, unarmed," Hera yelled.
Kanan grabbed his lightsaber and I did the same. We emptied out of the back of the Ghost, meeting two adult humans and one alien that looked like Ahsoka. The first human had on a dark brown cloak that billowed in the wind and when she took the hood off, she had a familiar face. Her right eye was blinded and she seemed like she meant business.
Kanan's POV:
Another Jedi! Seems like she escaped Order 66, judging by the scar on her eye. But... Somethings a little off with her. I can feel that she is strong with the force and I can feel that she's looking for someone. It must be that girl Ezra found. "Who are you?" I call out, hand near my lightsaber just in case.
"Kanan Jarrus. I've heard so much about you and your little group," she says coming closer, but signaling to her comrades that they should stay back. Both are armed with blasters, and would take a shot at us if they had the chance. I'm a little stunned by the way she said my name. And how did she know me? "Oh, don't be silly, Kanan. My name is Cancer, and I believe you have my Padawan in your possession? Hmm?"
I slid a side ways look at Ezra. He had the same confused expression on his face as I did. "I... I think we do have your Padawan, um, miss. Uhh... I found her out in the grasslands of this placed and accidentally stunned her, fearing that she was an animal. I'm sorry," Ezra explained quickly. The Jedi comes closer and I swallow down a bark of orders to Ezra.
"No problem. Accident, or not, we'd be glad to take her off your hands," she said, flashing a white smile at us. It was a little too nice for my comfort. I pulled my lightsaber out, and ignited the bright blue blade. A show of dominance could let them know who their messing with, I thought. The other Jedi grabbed a small, dark gray cylinder and pressed a button on it. The back end of it extended to a sharp spike and the other, a vibrant purple lightsaber blade.
"Seems like you're out matched," Ezra said jokingly. I glared his way. Not funny.
"Well, you must be Ezra Brideger," she said, flipping her hybrid lightsaber and spear around in the form of a fighting skill. Military grade techniques. Damnit, Ezra! Why'd you have to go and take her back to the Ghost! My thoughts were broken by the sound of Ezra's lightsaber and the pounding of his feet. Before I could stop him, he was charging his way towards the unknown Jedi. She smirked and dodged his attacks perfectly. I had no other choice!
I had to do follow my apprentice and help him. Blaster fire, lightsabers clashing, then the yelp of a girl. "Cancer! What the hell?"
Anilara's POV:
I cannot believe this. I just cannot believe it. Cancer stood there with her spear over Ezra's chest, ready to impale him before she even realized what she was about to do. "He's the one! The one we'd been looking for," I yelled and ran forward, helping Ezra up. My defiant gaze reflected in my Master's own dark purple eyes. "Anilara. They tried to kill you!" Cancer growled.
But in her eyes, I could see the truth coming to place. Ezra held his side, huffing in aggravation. I could sense his pain, but he hid it well. A rough past..., I thought. Cancer stood to her full hight, nearly six foot, and pressed the button on her spear and it transformed back into the small gray cylinder.
"I am sorry," she said, bowing her head and not meeting eyes with him.
"Sure," another male voice said behind me. He was tall, dressed in mainly green, and had dark brown hair. He stepped defensively in front of Ezra. "I didn't catch your name."
"Anilara. And this is my Master, Cancer Nixora. Our friends here are Jalmik and Sylvia," I said, trying to act friendly towards the alpha of this rebel cell. He seemed protective, like the Empire over it's weakness's. Cancer got to her feet and squared up with Kanan. Their eyes were both narrowed and seemed like if we let them, they would kill each other. An awkward silence filled the open air before the Twi'lek broke it. "What business do you have here on Lothal?" She asked nicely. Her bright green eyes twinkled with hope that Cancer would answer.
Cancer looked back at Syl and Jalmik. They both shrugged and nodded to her. "We had crash landed here on Lothal about three days ago. We've been bargaining for parts to fix our ship, but we haven't found anyone who has any. My pilot over there, Jalmik, is a native to the planet of Tatooine. And our engineer is Sylvia. She was from the Imperial Academy, and escaped just before they planned to execute her from the system," Cancer explained. It was kinda hurtful that she had forgotten me. "And my Padawan here, Anilara Tuhko, was from the planet Mandilore. Her father and mother abandoned her out on the streets, during the Clone Wars. After a year or two after the Clone Wars, I had fled to Mandilore and found Anilara. I had been lead by the Force to find her and I promised to teach her at the age of 9."
I turned my head away, not wanting to think of those times. A sympathetic stare was pulled to me by Ezra. I really wanted to get away. I sat down and the rest of the Ghost crew and my crew sat down as well. I could tell that we were going to be here a long time...
