Chapter 1: Great Leaders Inspire Greatness In Others...

The day was bright against the lofty clouds that passed by the sun without notice. I watched the day go by without a care for that day, feeling my normal happiness with the way things were... even though it could all change under a few seconds.
I'm a rebel in the rebellion against the Empire. My name is Ezra Bridger, and I'm a Jedi in training. Yeah, most people say the Jedi are dead, but I know a few good ones that still exist. My Master, Kanan Jarrus, is one of them. Although he lacks focus and discipline at times, he's a great teacher. He's also the leader of our small, but growing, rebellion. Our single cell is called the Ghost Crew, made up of six members. Hera is the pilot for the ship, and a talented one at that.
Sabine Wren... Is my crush and the artist. Zeb is a a lasat, who used to be on something called the Honor Guard. I don't really know what that is, but it sounds important. Chopper the small droid that's grumpy all the time and likes to make smart comments to all of us all the time. Kanan is he leader, as I've said before. And then there's me. I grew up on the planet Lothal, I had lost my parents when I was eight and had to fend for myself for days. And some were on empty stomachs too. But that all changed when I met these guys.
"Ezra!! Are you even listening?" Kanan's voice broke in angrily as I jolted away from my thoughts. I looked up at his dark green eyes, which seemed to be ablaze with rage. "I said, get your lightsaber and helmet. We are practicing today!" I got to my feet and walked past my angered Master, gritting my own teeth.
"We practice everyday," I muttered.
"Excuse me, did I hear you say something?" I shook my head quickly and walked to my room in the Ghost. I found my lightsaber lying on my small bed in the semi-darkness. I smiled at my different looking weapon and walked out, excited and hoping for something new to come along in training today. I walked out into the grassy clearing and saw Kanan with his own lightsaber on.
"Ok, Ezra. I think it's safe to say that we can start trying lightsaber duels," he said. I could feel my excitement rise up and I could tell Kanan could see it. He smiled lightly and ordered me to turn on my lightsaber. "We're just going to start with blocking today, and tomorrow, depending on what we have for a schedule and on how you do today, we'll try some jabs and strikes." I felt my smiled widen, and I came forward, standing in front of Kanan. "Put the blade of your saber towards the left," he said. I obeyed. Kanan studied my stance and where my blade was. Then he came to the front of me, holding up his lightsaber. "Take a slash," he said.
I narrowed my eyes and lifted the blade above my head, ready to strike. Then, I came down will all my force. But I was bounced off and I tumbled down onto my back. I looked back at Kanan, who stood there, his lightsaber twirling in his hand. I stared at him in bewilderment, that was shadowed by agitation and got up to try again.
"Try going where you think a weak spot is in your enemy's weapon," Kanan ordered, getting into a defense stance. While in the possision, I saw the striking line on Kanan's dark green and white armor of his left arm. I winced at the memory of the cold, at the memory of the tall, dark figure and his red lightsaber, glowing in the destroyed walker and fire.
"I know," Kanan said, looking to where my eyes searched. This is my chance! With him off guard, I have a chance! I thought. I stuck forward with my blade, but I felt the strength of my master's lightsaber. He pushed, attempting to get me off my feet again. Not this time, Kanan!
I pushed forward against him, trying to unbalance him. I used all of my force to try and press him off. There was a split second before I realized that he was going to give me out. And I fell forward, my bright blue sword dig into the dirt. I whipped my head around, agitation growing stronger. I came up and flashed my blade at his, and he was ready for me.
I let him go, and went for another angle, but was blocked anyways. "If you want a chance, then go faster, throw off your opponent." Kanan's voice was at ease, as if he put in little effort for this training. I flashed around places as fast as I could, but every attack I tried was blocked by my master.

The day ended, my muscles sore and my face sweaty from practice. "Good work, kid," Kanan said, placing a steady hand on my shoulder. "You nearly got me on that last jab." I nodded and walked to my room. I was so tired. I couldn't find the strength to even cry. Since I was alone now, I normally cried about my lost parents and how my life was so out of proportion. I lay there, staring at the ceiling. I could feel my eyes growing heavy in the dark room.
"Maybe I can get some rest," I said, rolling over on my side. Then, everything went dark and I entered my dream...

Kanan's POV:

I walked into the dining hall. Hera, Zeb, Sabine, and Chopper were there. "How did it go with Ezra's training today?" Hera asked, a teasing smile following her passionate eyes. I sighed and sat down next to Zeb.
"The kid's getting better... and fast," I said. I picked up a round orange and yellow striped fruit and bit into it. "He's got guts, but he's also got the anger that he needs to keep under control. Nearly took a chunk out of my arm today." Sabine seemed surprised, then her expression lifted to a seldom feeling of sisterly love flicker in her eyes.
Suddenly, down the hallway, something crashed. I got up and narrowed my eyes. "Stay here, I'll check it out," I said quietly. I walked through the halls, ready for someone to pop out. But when I came into the pilot's room, things were hovering all over the place, but nothing too expensive of heavy. I glanced around, wondering what was going on. "Ezra," I said, turning back and running down the hallways. Hera was there with me, a concerned look plastered on her face. "Ezra." I looked down the hallway to Ezra's room. I could feel a pull in the force.
"Kid, you ok?" I knocked on the door. There was no answer. If there was, I didn't hear it. "Ezra!" I said, louder. I muffled groan of pain echoed out of the room. I pulled the doors open and saw that in the dark room, there was Ezra. He was in his bed but he was shivering. He was twitching uncontrollably and his eyes had tears descending down his face. "Ezra? Ezra, wake up!" I said, grabbing him by the shoulders and shaking him. Careful, Kanan! Don't hurt him, I thought carefully.
"Is he all- Whoa!" Sabine's gasp was rigid and unstable. She came forward, dodging the things that floated overhead. "What's wrong with him?"
"I don't know! I'm kinda freaking out," I said quietly. Sabine's dark brown eyes stared at Ezra.
"He's not breathing normally," she said. That sent me over the edge.

Ezra's POV:

I walked on the turf of Lothal. I knew this was a dream, but something felt weird. Something felt... Suspicious. I glanced behind me and there was the Ghost. "What...?" I said. I walked back, alert. "Kanan? Hera?" I called out into the darkness. No answer. Suddenly, I felt cold.
Really cold! The Sith Lord!! I thought grabbing my saber and flashing it behind me. No one was there. I relaxed a little and put my lightsaber away. Before I could react fast enough, I was on my back. A girl, maybe Sabine's age, stood in front of me, a green lightsaber in hand. I crab walked backwards but hit a wall. But it wasn't a wall, it was a door. I got to my feet and scrambled into the room.
It was semi-dark, but I dared not to turn any lights on. I huffed breaths in and out, and held my head in fear. "Ezzzzzzzrrrraaaa..." I flicked my head up and saw Kanan laying there. My eyes widened and I sat there, stiff. "Ezzzzzrraaa... Leave... Please..." My jaw quivered. Kanan was on his side, and he stared into space. I couldn't see the wound, but I knew he was injured. I just couldn't leave him!
I got up and walked over to help him up. "You're my master, and I'm your apprentice. I'm not leaving you," I said. But when I reached out to help him he struck my hand and pulled me down.
"Run." Before I could protest, the girl from before came in. Her teeth were sharp next to the glare of her lightsaber. "Perfect. You're both here now."

Kanan's POV:

It had been at least two hours since Ezra's black out. "Come on, kid. Pull through," I whispered. Just as I said that, Ezra's dark blue eyes flicked open and he jolted upwards, sucking in a deep breath. From that breath, he let out a sob and curled up in a ball, holding his knees to his chest. "Ezra!" I said, coming over to kneel beside him. "It's ok, it's fine. It's ok," I said. Ezra didn't stop. He just laid there, his shoulders shaking.
I let him go for a little bit, maybe ten minutes until he burned himself out. Then he sat up, his eyes red and tired of crying. When he saw me, he buried his face in his hands. "Ezra, it was just a bad dream. What happened?" I asked. Ezra sniffled.
"I'm sorry," he croaked out. I blinked and set a steady hand on his shoulder. "I... I didn't want to leave you, Kanan! I really didn't! But she gave me no choice!" Before I knew it, the kid had his arms around my waist. I pushed him away gently.
"Ezra, who did what?" I asked, ready to hear the worst. Ezra looked at his feet, then to me, then back at his feet. He took in a shuttering sigh and blinked at the ground.
"She killed you... Run... I can't," he said.
"Hey. Calm. Down. You're fine, you're safe. I think that we should skip training tomorrow," I said. Ezra nodded blankly and wiped away the tears that still lay on his face. "You wanna come out and get some dinner?" He shook his head. I nodded and walked out. "Ok. Anything you need, just call me or Hera." I said, walking out. I saw Hera stand next to the door, waiting with Sabine.
"How is he?" Hera asked. Concern lit her eyes.
"He's... not good, to be honest. He said that he had seen some girl and she had killed us all," I said. Hera glanced at Sabine, worry coming in waves to me.
"Do you think it was another vision?" Sabine blurted, a serious look on her face. The thought had never struck me. Maybe it was. But I couldn't be sure. "I have to look for more signs if it is," I answered back. Sabine and Hera nodded and walked away, talking quietly to each other. I blinked slowly and leaned against the wall, falling down it to sit on the floor. What am I going to do if it is a vision?
