Chapter 8- The bite of a lost wolf: Part 3
Aphmau POV
I stood in front of the same door that held the light to my darkness. I hugged my knees helplessly on the ground as my body aches from all the pain the rushed towards my leg, I sobbed endlessly until the I heard something thrash against the door. I tried to stand up but I end up falling back down holding my leg.
The door busts open, I close my eyes from all the light that blinded my vision. I felt someone lifting me up from my feet and into their arms. They wiped away the tears that spilled from my eyes.
"Shh, you'll be alright." The male voice cooed.
I slowly open my eyes to face the same blue orbs that saved me a few days ago. He smiled down at me his hair covering parts of his forehead. I couldn't help but let the tears fall from my eyes, my saviour, he protected me from all the trauma I faced.
Laurance...
Laurance POV
"We first need to find the wolf that bit Aphmau, then we kill it and take its blood. We mix it along with Aphmau's blood and make her drink it." Katelyn explained after a whole lot of reading dusty old books,
"But the real questions is, who attacked Aphmau in the first place? They must've held a grudge against her considering they sneaked out of their territory just to get revenge, I think he or she knows that a bite is going to kill her especially if she's a human." The girls winced at the thought, I even winced slightly to.
"But this doesn't mean that Aphmau is going to stay unconscious throughout the weekend-" Katelyn paused.
"What do you mean?" Garroth questioned.
She sighs." It means that in a few hours she'll wake up, which is very bad as she will face a lot of pain from the infection spreading around her body, although Zoey might be able to hold back the infection for a few days, that still won't stop it from traveling.
I growled in frustration sitting down on an armchair while everyone surrounds me sitting on the sofas. I pulled my hair in frustration. I looked back Aphmau who laid peacefully on the bed with a pained expression on her face. I couldn't help but feel this was all my fault. The first time I met her I knew I had to protect her from any danger. It was to much to risk leaving her when she needed me the most. We don't know each other and I'd like it to stay that way,but I won't hesitate to kill the person who barges into my path. Too Harsh?
Hours has past by and we've yet to make any progress in finding the lost wolf. I know exactly how he looks like, he has a full on brown fur coat covering his entire body, even his eyes are brown. Travis, Dante, Zane, Garroth and I searched the perimeter of the forest, but we weren't in a any luck. The girls stayed back and looked after Aphmau. They've informed us that Aphmau didn't make any signs of waking up.
It's full moon tonight, so we have some sort of a chance to find the brown haired wolf. Luckily, the lost wolves carry the curse of the full moon, meaning that they'll unconsciously turn into their wolf form and that it'll be much more painful shifting, that was a huge advantage to us. Zane carried the tranquillisers in his bag, we weren't bothered to start a fight, so what better than to knock him unconscious then kill him. Sound good to me.
We masked our scents with perfume. All wolves hate the scent of perfume, they just can't stand it, especially lost wolves. Travis came up with a plan, we attract many lost wolves as we can, if we can't find the right one we kill them. Not to boast but the vampires are the most powerful supernatural beings, they come first in the chart, witches come second then werewolves.
I heard a few crunches of leaves a few miles ahead. Knowing that the boys probably heard it to, using their super speed they followed me towards the direction of the North. We hid in a tree as we had the higher advantage of our attack to cause damage. My eyes lit up in hope as my vision was attracted by the the brown fur coat sneaking towards a reindeer viciously. Garroth and Dante smirked knowing we located our target. The both of them grabbed a bunch of tranquillisers in both hands ready to throw them. The wolf attacked the reindeer eating it mercilessly, he turned to my direction as on queue, Garroth and Dante ran sneaking up behind the wolf.
I walked in front of the wolf casually showing no emotion, as his confused eyes travelled my body. Garroth and Dante smiled readying themselves to stab him, I nodded signally them the puncture the tranquillisers inside his body, as if things couldn't get more worse, I suddenly fell down covering my ears in pain as the excruciating melody played through my ears. Garroth fell down as well covering his ears and soon after Dante followed as well. A witch came out of the bushes smirking evilly, humming an harmful tune to vampires. I cursed incoherent words as the wolf slowly gets up and made a run for it. Wimp.
I tightly closed my eyes as the pain was to much to bare. The witch stopped humming as Travis sneaked up on her biting her neck, draining all the blood she had in her system.
"Yeesh, that was nasty." Travis complained wiping the extra blood from his lip smiling cheekily.
"Need a little help there Laurance." Travis taunted causing me to scowl.
Garroth and Dante already stood up on their feet like nothing happened.
Garroth scratched the back of his neck." Where's Zane?" Garroth questioned worried for his little brother.
"Oh, he is probably burying the body of the dead lost wood that bite Aphmau." Travis shrugged carrying the dead body of the witch over his shoulders.
"He killed the wolf?" Garroth, Dante and I screamed in sync.
"Well yeah, after beating him to shreds and tearing him apart he managed to get a sample of blood in a blood bag." Garroth brought out a shovel from the duffel bag digging a hole in the ground for the witches body.
"Here's the blood." Zane threw the blood bag at Dante who catches it immediately.
"Heh, turns out the lost wolf was one of Laurance's one night stand." Bitch! I knew I shouldn't have trusted her.
"Well she's dead now." We all shrugged.
Garroth buried the body stuffing the shovel back into the bag. We ran fastly towards the house knowing we had no time to spare. I barged into the front door, running to the second floor towards the medical quarters. My eyes creased in worry and confusion the same as everyone else's expressions. Aphmau was sobbing holding the blanket with a deathly grip.
"Molly used a syringe to transact the blood from Aphmau to mix it with the wolf blood. When the needle was injected inside of her she started screaming relentlessly, refusing to open her eyes, she is a bit calm but her leg hurts like a bitch." Kawaii Chan explained solving our confusion.
"Well here is the blood." Dante handed over the blood to Molly who immediately went to action.
"You managed to get the blood! How?" Cadenza asked looking at me.
Travis explained the whole thing to Cadenza and Katelyn as they had the same confused look we had a few minutes ago.
" A witch hummed the curse of the vampire melody? That takes years of practice and no ordinary witch can just learn that, which means-" Katelyn got cut off by Cadenza who gasped in shock.
"Did you kill the witch?" Travis nodded.
"-Wait let me rephrase that, you can't kill a witch who learned the Vampires melody! They'll just get resurrected again into another newborn witches body who is out to seek revenge-"Cadenza panicked.
"It's ready." Kiki stated making all of our heads turn to Molly who was holding a cup.
"Laurance, why don't you feed her?" Emmalyn asked when Molly handed over the cup to Emmalyn who gave it to me.
I looked at her questingly before taking the cup with my hands.
Aphmau dared not to open her eyes, she laid uncomfortably on the bed breathing heavily, I could feel myself becoming nervous as trickles of tears rush down her cheek, I felt the sudden urge to wipe the tears, but I didn't make a sudden movement. Bringing the cup to her dried red lips, she opened her Mouth unconsciously but instantly regretting it, I forced the cup it her mouth making her drink it. She was too tried to struggle. You could easily tell she's falling back to sleep with her slow breathes. I took the empty cup away from her lips and placed it on the tray. Now what happens?
"She should wake up in a few minutes but..." Lucinda paused.
"But what?" I ushered.
"But- they may be a few side effects, that won't last long more then a week, but the cost is high." I rubbed my temple frustrated of all this information given to me.
I'm a vampire, I lived for more than a thousand of years and yet I knew nothing of this stupid formula. Aphmau stirred, moving her body slightly. She lifts her leg but immediately drops it. The infection has reduced but that bite was gonna leave a faint scar. Her beautiful Hazel eyes flutter open, but something felt different. Her eyes...they were different, her orbs used to be a pure Hazel that shone in the sunlight. But her eye had specks of green that they weren't full of light. It was like she was trapped in the darkness. She opened her mouth to speak but her voice was raspy. Zoey handed her a glass of water, she made no movement to reach out for it.
"Here you go." Zoey brought the water to her lips, Aphmau gulped the water hungrily.
Her first words made my heart stop beating for the first time in my life, I knew exactly what her words meant.
"Hey, who switched off the lights?"
