Chapter 19: A Year Later...

Aphmau POV
-One Year Later

I looked outside of the window in the cottage, the rain was drowning the grass, and flowers flew away from the rough winds. Today is my birthday, I'm turning eighteen. It had been a year since I've last seen Laurance and everyone else. After I woken up from dying I just had this urge to drown myself in blood, I was chained in my room so I couldn't do so, once I was weak, Aaron fed me a potion which tasted disgusting, but put me unconscious. A few days later I woke, feeling like a new born baby, I knew I wasn't a vampire but I just felt like I haven't done anything bad in the world.

Aaron and Jason to me to a cottage far away from the mansion where nobody could find me, we did all sorts of stuff just to keep me happy and that was very nice for them considering they were suppose to keep me held captive, but this past year I haven't been anything but depressed and unhappy.

I sat down to watch Tv, Jason and Aaron said we're going to do something for my birthday, but they're not here yet. I was skipping through channels until I reached the News.

Channel 1: Laurance Zvhal arrested in Meteli station, Murderer of criminal who sinned a crime of killing a young girls mother. Death penalty.

My eyes widen as I switched to the next channel.

Channel 2: Laurance Zvhal, recently got hanged but came back alive? What is this?

I changed back to first channel.

Channel 1: Laurance Zvhal is going to get crucified for murder of Meteli's towns head.

What! You can't do that. Death penalty is banned from the government in the first place, they can't get him crucified. That's just sick.

I heard the front door open Aaron walked in with a smile on his face, but once he saw my face he frowned.

"What's wrong?" I pointed to the Tv and his eyes widened.

"We need to get to Meteli!" I jumped on my feet.

"Aph, we can't..." My head whipped towards him, tears threatened to leave my eyes.

"Please!" I begged weakly, he looked at me for a second before closing his eyes.

"Fine." I putted my shoes on running outside to the car while Aaron followed me, I buckled myself in before Aaron drove of.

My mind was overflowing with thoughts, 'what if we don't make in there in time' if we don't make it in time then there is a possibility that not even his vampire powers can save him. He might be dead by time we arrive. I told Aaron to drive faster, but this was the fastest the car could drive. Meteli was an hour from here, but since Aaron was driving as fast as he could, we should be there in thirty minutes.

We didn't know where exactly to go, but we do know that they're going to publicly crucify him. I creased my eyebrows in confusion, the man on the Tv who got murdered by Laurance doesn't look a single bit like Ivy, what if the witch corrupted another body as a victim. The man looked very familiar, he looked like the head of Meteli, maybe that's why he was ordered death by the community in public.

We finally arrived at Meteli, Aaron was swerving through the narrow roads towards the central part of the town. The houses and roads were very empty, it's almost like they'll went to see Laurance getting killed. I didn't care about anything right at this moment, I just wanted to save Laurance from actually getting killed, I don't know where the others are, maybe they already arrived and off to save Laurance, because if that's the case, then I have some time to stall of getting Laurance out of here and clearing his name, maybe we could just say he was framed. I'm pretty sure that they won't believe our lies until we get some sort of proof.

There is one thing I got to say though, Laurance is so stupid for killing the Head of Meteli. By killing the body it doesn't mean you get rid of the actual witch, maybe he wasn't thinking straight.

We arrived at the town central, the place was packed filled with many people, right at the front of the audience was huge castle that I didn't know even existed with a huge glass wall leading out into a balcony, someone stood there, but I couldn't see from such a far distance.

Blue eyes, the blue eyes that I have dreamt of again during the past year, I had to search for them, every dream I had it was like a part of me was rebuilt then gets broken down again. I couldn't go back to Phoenix Drop, Aaron said that his father and his men were visiting Phoenix Drop coincidently for a year and it would be bad if I stayed in the mansion any longer.

"Focus on your surroundings, remember your powers that you inherited from your great grandmother? They should be awoken any time soon, just focus all of your energy towards your eyes." Aaron said to busy looking around.

"And how do I do that?" I said exasperated.

" I don't know! She's your grandmother!" I rolled my eyes.

'Focus all of your energy towards your eyes.' How am I meant to do that? I squinted around the groups of people, talking loudly. I sighed dramatically as I wasn't making any process in such a worrisome time. I closed my eyes, 'just breath in, and focus.' I took a deep breath opening my eyes, I gasped as everything instantly become a thousand times clearer. I could see every details and everyone's face so clearly.

I looked around like a hawk separating from Aaron and blending in with the crowd. I whipped my head towards the front, I has a feeling that I had to go inside that castle. My urge was tingling and I couldn't resist, I pushed through the crowd of people that glared at me as a ran through, I stopped and stood there as I stared at the people in front of me. Garroth, Zane and Travis was talking about something looking the other direction. Dante and the girls looked tired and exhausted, I never seen them this stressed out before, I didn't want to be a burden by appearing in front of them after a whole year of disappearance. I ran around them, luckily they were to busy talking to see me.

There was a back door entrance leading inside. Fortunately no one was guarding the door, I ran towards the door sneaking inside before quickly closing it behind me. I leaned against the wall panting heavily, I was running to much the I lowered my energy exhausting me. 'But you have no time to lose.' A voice spoke from the back of my head and it was right. I couldn't waste any time. I lifted myself up from the wall, running down the huge corridors with Greek pillars at every side in a pattern with a very high sealing. Hopefully I was going the right way, otherwise I wouldn't make it in time.

A huge brown door stood in front of me, I contemplated about risking my cover to either get revealed or find Laurance who is optimistically not hurt. I decided to trust the latter and slowly craned the door slightly open trying to make the least of noise.

I heard someone speaking inside and I decided to listen in leaning my ear next to the small gap.

"Sir, when as we going to bring him out?" A frail voice spoke with a lot less authority.

"We're bringing him in a few minutes, everyone is going to see him up there. Stupid vampire." I could potentially feel Laurance rolling his eyes if he was inside there.

"Sir, don't you think this is a little wrong. We all know that he didn't kill the head of Meteli, you're ordered your men to do so."

"Are You Siding With The Vampire!" The guy whimpered.

"N-No." He stuttered.

"Good." I heard footsteps walking towards the other direction.

Well it looks like Laurance ain't stupid after all.

They framed him? At least I don't have to make up a fake story to cover him, but I do need proof that it wasn't him who made a crime. I pushed the door fully open. The room was slightly dark, I heard someone open the door and I panicked. I quickly hid under a desk which was right at the back of the corner of the the room.

While I was typing this chapter, it kind of reminded me of Twilight in a way. When Belle saves Edward, I luv that scene.

Surprised by the huge time skip?
