Chapter 1: New Friend? [Edited]
Aphmau POV
Running across the field of lilies, daffodils and roses. I span around continuously towards the direction the wind flows. Breathing in the strong fragrance of lavender, I picked a thorn-free rose bringing it close to my nose, enough to get a whiff of the vibrant aroma that fills my nostrils. Tumbling down on a patch of grass I could slowly feel myself sinking beneath the ground floor. The sky slowly turns into clouds of darkness and all the flowers vanish into fin air, the rose turns into bits of black dust dripping from my hand and into the endless black hole, which I could feel myself being carried away into.
My screams erupt the ghost-filled silence as my head spun In a million of different ways. My mind slowly drifts away from my empty brain as I reached the bottom of what seemed like an endless blackhole. Shaking my head trying to regain consciousness, my eyes disobeyed my orders, drifting away into a deep slumber.
Before the darkness arises me, I get a small peak of crystal, blue eyes that were staring right at me.
I woke up panting heavily, trying to regain my normal breathes. I looked at the alarm clock to see I woke up at the exact time I needed to get ready. Pushing the duvet of my body, I stood up slipping on my Winnie the Pooh slippers doing a couple of stretches to wake myself up a bit. Trudging like a zombie towards the bathroom, I turned the tap on splashing cold water all over my face to wake me up.
I dipped my hand into the water to see if it's warm enough. I stripped myself from my clothes immediately missing the warmth of it. I hopped in the shower letting the droplets of water run down my skin. I massaged my scalp with Shampoo almost falling asleep from the pleasure. I scrubbed my body squeaky clean from any hidden dirt.
I wrapped my white, fuzzy towel around me firmly, before grabbing a brush combing my long black hair until there were no knots. Walking straight towards my closet I quickly chose an outfit not bothered to bicker about my choice of clothing. I slipped on my blue skinny jeans and my grey v- neck tucking in the front of the shirt in my jeans. After, I wore a cream chunky knit cardigan and my dark brown loafers to complete the look, I left my hair flowing down my back, not bothered to agitate it. I opened the drawer of my bedside table grabbing my diamond encrusted locket hooking it around my neck. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, I stared intently at the locket, smiling at the wonderful memories that flashed through my head, but the smile was washed away and replaced with a frown as the remembrance of my grandma who had sadly passed away whipped past me. I shook my head away from the negativity before grabbing my leather bag closing my room door behind me.
The smell of bacon erupts my taste buds, I zoomed downstairs settling down on a barstool waiting for mum to serve her delicious cooking. My Mum always has been the best of cook, even though I'm not so little anymore to enjoy food doesn't mean I can't enjoy her splendid cooking. Every time I take a bite out of her food it's like taking a bite out of heaven. Literally.
I gobbled down the pieces of bacon as well as the beans, toasts and eggs, not bothered if I don't look lady- like. I just love food. Who doesn't?
"Where are your manners, young lady." Despite her glare I could sense humour hidden somewhere beneath her glare.
"Who said I had any?" I smirked while she rolled her eyes playfully.
"Are you ready for your new school?"
I walked towards the sink cleaning my plates before replying ."Yup." I strapped my bag over my shoulders again before hugging my mum as she gives me a quick kiss.
"Don't get into too much trouble!" She shouted loud enough for me to hear while I walked outside.
"I'll try!" I shouted back chuckling a bit.
School was just down the road so why bother destroy oxygen when I could get a whiff of fresh air. Holding my bag closer to me, I hurried my pace towards school since I don't want to be late on my first day. That wouldn't be good.
The faster I move the more nervous I got. I could feel the sweat trickle down my neck as I become closer towards the school. Taking a deep breath I wipe the imaginary dust of my legs before walking as calm as I could. Finally standing in front of a huge building, I started having doubts that this is actually the school, maybe I walked through the wrong direction? I proved myself wrong as my eyes travel towards the huge sign that says 'Phoenix Drop High' in the middle.
Fiddling with my fingers I took one step forward to admire the huge manor. The building stood tall and straight like a soldier, but it gave of the kind of spooky vibe which creeped me out, even more than my nervousness. I pulled the hems of my cardigan as a few students either lifted their heads from their phones or turned from talking to their friends to look at me. Not liking the attention I speed walked towards the entrance. I opened the huge wooden door entering the building, I was immediately greeted by a long corridor filled with minimum amount of students who are by their lockers chilling. I twisted the silver ring around my ring finger on my right hand- which my Mum gifted.
The corridor was silent besides the whispers of people talking to their friends. The only sound slightly louder was my feet stomping against the polished concrete. I finally arrived in front of the schools office, I knocked three times before I heard someone faintly telling me to come in. Twisting the door knob quietly, I open the door to be met with a friendly face smiling at me from behind the counter.
"Hi, I'm new here. My names Aphmau." I smiled shyly all my confidence down the drain.
"Aphmau Rosabell?" She looked up from her folder staring at me with her blue eyes.
"Yes miss."
"Oh don't be silly, you can call me Hyria." Mi- Hyria giggled shaking her head slightly.
"Here you go, here's your schedule and other necessary things. Hopefully I'll be seeing you around, you seem like a nice young lady." Hyria handed over my stuff.
"Thank you Hyria." I was about to leave before she quickly grabbed my wrist lightly.
"There're a few minutes before the bell rings so don't bother going to your homeroom. Make your way to your first lesson, I'll explain to your teacher why you weren't there for registration, oh! and be careful." Hyria let go of my wrist flashing her adorable smile.
"Thank you." I returned the smile, finally walking out of the office.
I stuffed everything in my bag, not bothered to carry them through out the whole day. I was closing my bag not focusing where I was walking, when I suddenly bumped into someone causing them to drop their books onto floor erupting a huge mess.
"Oh my Irene! I'm so sorry, I wasn't aware on what I was doing and I caused you to drop your books on the floor, I'm sorry-" I rambled on about how I was sorry until she cut me off.
"Don't worry, it's okay. Although you can help me pick up these books-"
"Oh! Of course." I crouched down picking up all the loose pieces of paper while she picked up the heavy books.
"Again, I'm so, very sorry. I'm Aphmau." I reached my hand out to shake hers, but her hands were occupied by all the books she was carrying, I awkwardly kept my hand by my side.
"Emmalyn." She carried the heavy books with her left hand while her right hand shook my left hand almost immediately.
"Um...do you need any help carrying all these stuff to your locker." I suggested to help her since we had a few minutes before the bell rang, and neither of us wanted to be late.
"Yeah sure, thanks." Emmalyn smiled.
We both spent the last few minutes carrying papers and books towards Emmalyn's locker which was right next to mine at the end of the hallway.
"What's your first lesson?" Emmalyn asked as I stacked the last pieces of paper into her locker.
I quickly opened my bag grabbing my scrunched up schedule. "Um...I have, music with Mr. Newman." I shoved the paper inside my bag again, then closed the zip.
"Really? Uh, should I show you where the music room is, it's right next to my first class." A spark of hope shimmered in Emmalyn's eyes.
"Yeah, thanks." Emmalyn gripped onto my hand dragging me up the first flight of stairs and down the long corridor.
"Here is the music room...uh, I kind of took a peep at your schedule and we both have English after, so shall I wait for you in the corridor?" Emmalyn nervously shifted on one foot to another biting her lip.
"I would love that." I tucked a strand of fallen hair behind my ears.
"Okay, I'll see you after class."
