"If you wanted to come here, you could have done that alone! Why dragging me?" the boy was pissed.
Arya almost rolled her eyes and smacked the back of the head of the boy who is supposedly her foster brother, "I don't want to lose face, you idiot!"
"You can see a ballet show anytime you want! What is there to lose face?" the boy was frustrated, "I was supposed to go with my group to study together!"
"Study!" Arya scoffed and handed the tickets to the man standing at the entrance and whispered to her brother, "like I don't know what kind of study you guys do there! What do those scumbags teach you? How to woo Yoona the beautiful?"
Eyeing Arya sharply with a side glance he barked back, "at least I have someone I like, ok? Look at you, elder than me, but still single like a stray cat!"
"Excuse me!" Arya again smacked the back of the head of the boy, "do you know how many boys like me?"
"As if!" the boy rolled his eyes and observed her from top to bottom and realizing she dolled up a bit for the show, he scoffed, "changing appearance once and you are thinking yourself the Cleopatra now!" and stopped himself to say something more seeing the man checking their tickets clearing his throat a bit.
"I beg your pardon," the man's etiquette was immaculate, "there has been the last moment adjustment to the number of seats. I am sorry to inform you that these seats are not available anymore."
"Not available?" Arya frowned hard, "I booked the tickets days ago. What kind of adjustment is this?"
She was excited about the show. And she isn't ready to back off this early without a fight. And the victorious face of her pain-in-ass brother was intriguing her even more. She can't lose her face in front of him, "look, man..."
"Let me explain first," the man spoke with a smile, "the seat number has been adjusted, but we have no intention to send you away, madam. If you guys don't mind, we'd like to offer you two seats in the VIP box."
"VIP box? Sure." Arya nodded and eyed her brother, "we'd love that."
The opera house was dark and dimly lit. The only spotlight was following the ballerina in her light feet, covered in elegant white. The entrance of the prince was elegant and her heart beat with every slight deviation of the sound of the orchestra as the sound intensified.
The black swan came out, radiating cruelty, evilness, and elegance.
Ary was mesmerized. Her eyes were glued to the scene.
The orchestra went frantic.
The hauntingly beautiful movements of the dancers- the sound, the backdrop-
The white swan died.
The music dimmed down. The light went down and someone handed Arya a snowy white handkerchief. Just then Arya realized that she was a crying mess over a ballet performance.
"Thank you," Arya mumbled and took the handkerchief offered to her and looked to her side.
This VIP box had the best view of the stage from up here. She didn't notice before coming here that there were two more people in the box except her and her brother.
But seeing the side her sentence stopped in a midway and she instantly looked away.
Seeing the panic in her eyes, her brother frowned, "what? Did you see a ghost just now?"
"Shut up!" Arya gritted her teeth and whispered, "the boy beside my seat? He is my coursemate!"
Her brother took time to realize the gravity and when he did, an evil smile spread over his lips slowly.
Arya's eyes widened sensing what he was going to do and almost whispered shouted, "Don't you dare!"
But he didn't show any sign of backing off. He leaned forward and looked at the boy beside her and smiled, "hello hyungnim, my name is Kim Daeyoung."
The boy looked at him without any change in his expression.
Arya didn't spare a second to press her palm over Daeyoung's lips and held him in a chokehold and mumbled,
"don't you fucking dare say a word boy!"
Daeyoung still managed to free his mouth and almost yelled towards the other boy, "heard you are noona's coursemate! It is nice to meet you!"
The boy beside her cleared his voice a bit with the chaos and his polite words came afterward, "likewise. I am Kim Seokjin."
This time Daeyoung freed himself and shot a glare at Arya who was still sitting with her back facing Jin and smiled back at Jin, "I heard a lot about you. I do Taekowando at school. You are already a legend there. Besides..."
Jin stayed silent.
Daeyoung pushed and made Arya face Jin, "she never shuts up about you."
"Is that so?" Jin raised a brow.
"Yes. Mostly badmouthing you though." Daeyoung grinned, "though I heard her say that you are very handsome."
Arya again shot a glare in Daeyoung's direction and managed a woody smile and looked at Jin, "Oh, hey Jin! Didn't see you there!"
"It's Seokjin."
"Right, Seokjin!" Arya smiled and pulled Daeyoung up, "actually we were going to go just now. See you later!"
"I am not going anywhere!" Daeyoung's evil smirk widened, "I loved the show. When is the second show today?"
"Get up you punk!" Arya whispered and smacked the back of his head again, "you have a death wish tonight!"
"We are going to eat out tonight, hyungnim," Daeyoung raised his voice over his struggle with his sister, "wanna join us?"
"He doesn't eat out. Right?" Arya smiled awkwardly "let's go, Daeyoung!"
"Sure."
Arya paused for a moment. Did she hear right?
"You coming, hyungnim? Nice!" Daeyoung smiled evilly at Arya, "this is fucking awesome!"
Before Jin says anything, Arya smacked Daeyoung's head, "language please!"
"Who are you?" Daeyoung frowned, "you curse twenty-four-seven every day!"
"I do not."
"Don't believe her, hyungnim. She is just a poser." Daeyoung's words were towards Jin.
The audacity!
Arya just could think only this about her brother's behavior towards Jin.
"I know." Jin's answer was simple.
The table was on a wooden platform on the lake. Lanterns were hung on the tree beside the platform forming a canopy over the head.
The napkins were white, the candles were white and golden with buquets of blood roses.
Arya was looking at Jin intently who was saying something mildly to her.
Arya tried to concentrate on his words but failed every time her eyes landed on his face. It was particularly distracting tonight.
"I remember," suddenly Arya said stopping Jin midway.
"What?" Jin was a little confused.
"The ballet show. The swan lake. Daeyoung."
A smile crept up on Jin's lips, "do you?"
Arya groaned and banged her head against the table, "I was pathetic!"
"It was funny."
"That's why you stuck with us that day!" Arya groaned again, "god! That was embarrassing! Daeyoung was such an asshole!"
"Why did you try to hide that day?" Jin smiled.
"Of course, I'd try to hide!" Arya sprang up in her defense, "everyone thought I am a badass tough girl! If they knew I let myself cry over the swan lake orchestra and liked those sophisticated things- what would they think? Had to protect my reputation, people!"
"You are allowed to like anything you want!" Jin remarked quietly.
"I know that now!" Arya protested, "but I was so idiot back then!"
Jin again smiled and gestured to the waiter a bit.
The waiter brought the bill and handed him a small bouquet.
After he left, Jin handed the bouquet to Arya.
Arya frowned at the sight and chuckled, "you fucked up your 'perfect' date, Jin!"
"You don't like it?" Jin eyed Arya.
"Loved it." Arya hugged the small bouquet and smiled with tease in her voice, "the date you arranged screamed elegance and fancy, Jin. I guess it was intentional. To complement the theme, you had to give me roses or a ring probably on your knees, Young master. Not a bouquet of Daffodils."
"I know." Jin nodded a little, "but I wanted it to be a bit special."
Arya smiled with her lips pressed against each other and beamed, "how do you know that I know what Daffodil means?"
"Do you?" Jin looked at her.
"Of course, I know!" Arya smiled and mumbled, "you are embarrassed."
"I am not." Jin looked down.
Arya again looked at the sight of yellow and white flowers in her hands and her heart melted.
They say you shouldn't give someone a single Daffodil as it means eternal selfish self-obsession and self-love.
The other name for Daffodil is the Narcissus flower. It came from the Greek mythology in which Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection and eventually died of heartbreak. If you give anyone a single Daffodil, it means you are recalling Narcissus who was lonely up to his death. That's why you should never give a single Daffodil flower but at least in a pair to anyone. But you shouldn't give bunches of the Daffodil to just anyone either. When you give someone a pair or bunch of Daffodils mean, "I won't let you be alone forever. Cause YOU ARE THE ONE."
"Jin..." Arya started but Jin looked up again.
Sensing his intense gaze on her Arya's face flushed a bit.
"Be with me, Arya."
"Am I not with you?" Arya smiled a little though she knew he was sincere.
"Let me ask you formally," Jin smiled a bit, "I know you hate labels and I don't want to tag it either...but," Jin looked at Arya who was smiling but stopped Jin before he proceed further and smiled, "be my boyfriend, Kim Seokjin."
"Well, that was fast!" Jin raised one brow.
"And easier than you think." Arya smiled and suddenly her face flushed, "what do you say? Let's give it a tag."
Jin nodded and looked down.
"Again your ears..." Arya smiled and touched his hand, "it's late. Let's get back. You have to fly tomorrow."
Jin again nodded, cleared the bill, and got up.
"So, this is me," Arya stood in front of her suite in which she was staying in after she came to America.
"Go on," Jin smiled, "rest well. You have worked hard."
"I'll go inside then," Arya smiled a little awkwardly, her mind was debating on whether she should invite him in or not and she hesitantly asked Jin, "you wanna come in?"
"It is ok." Jin smiled a bit, "you should rest. I am gonna go. See you in Korea?"
"See you in Korea." Arya agreed and smiled, "can I get a hug?"
Jin come closer and took Arya in his arm.
"Tonight was lovely, thank you for it." Arya mumbled in Jin's neck, "but let me take you on a date. You'll know what is fun and exciting once you agree to it."
"Ok," Jin smiled and frowned, "so it wasn't fun?"
"Formal." Arya scrunched up her nose, "but unique for me. I get a taste of your life, Jin. And I love every bit So no worries!"
"Ok," smiled Jin, "Hoseok has to pay for this."
"So he gave you the idea?"
Arya knew Jin wasn't the one who came up with this all by himself.
"The part before I picked you." Jin nodded, "he doesn't know you like ballet shows."
"It's our little secret." Arya mumbled again, "don't you dare tell anyone about it."
"Roger." Jin hummed, "your secret is safe with me."
After a few moments, they separated and Jin smiled and kissed her goodnight.
Coming inside her suite, Arya smiled bitterly. There it was- the emptiness. The void she feels every time that man isn't here beside her and she freaking hated it.
Tonight was lovely but she wished Jin could stay back.
Well, she didn't ask him either, right?
Arya sighed and got rid of her shoes. Her heel hurt, but her heart was aching more. Why the hell didn't he stay? Does she have to say everything out loud for him to understand?
Arya bit her lips and stood up.
She opened the door again almost in desperation. She hoped Jin didn't leave yet.
And there he was. Leaning on the wall beside her door. He covered his face in frustration with one hand and his eyes were closed. Probably he was mentally cursing himself for not conjuring up the courages to ask her if he could stay back.
As soon as Arya opened the door, he quickly stood straight and his hand reached his nape unconsciously and his face turned red getting caught.
"Get in here," Arya's voice was low.
Jin tried to smile but Arya grabbed His tie and dragged him in before closing the door behind them.
The kisses were desperate and longing as if they haven't seen each other for ages.
"Why did you go, you, idiot?" Arya scolded Jin mildly between the kisses. Her heart was racing and her face was burning. The warmth she felt spread all over her face making it a shade of crimson.
Jin's breath was heavy and ragged as he mumbled, "I didn't want to."
"Next time, just say it." Arya kissed Jin and her hands removed Jin's tie easily and whispered, "stay here tonight."
Jin hummed in response and let Arya take off his suit while his fingers fiddled with the thin strap of her black dress.
Arya again grabbed Jin's face and pulled it closer and whispered, "stop being so gentleman."
Jin looked at Arya's eyes and his fingers traced her jawline ever so softly, "are you sure about it?"
Arya nodded and looked away but she came up to unbutton Jin's shirt nevertheless.
Jin kissed her again and this time Jin's hand came up to her hair. It took just a few seconds to ruin the creation the hairstylist took half an hour to make and his hand moved from her hair to the back of her neck slowly.
The phone rang. But none of them paid any attention to this.
Arya shuddered when Jin's lips found the spot below her ears and her hand fisted Jin's shirt unapologetically and whispered Jin's name. Jin's one finger came up and slid the thin strap off her shoulder and his lips replaced the strap with slight kisses.
"Jin?" Arya whispered.
The phone was still ringing.
Jin raised his head and looked at her. Arya's hand came up and touched his bloodshot ear and looked at his eyes intensely, "are you embarrassed?"
"No," Jin assured and kissed her forehead without hesitation. Arya looked at the ears for a few seconds and then did what she always wanted to do- kissed them.
She heard Jin sigh as his breath turned heavy. She smiled knowing his reaction and slightly bit on it. Jin's grip on her waist tightened as he proceed with the make-out session even further.
The phone didn't stop. Rather this time a second phone started to cry out loud.
"Ignore it," Jin whispered against Arya's lips.
Arya planned to. Who cares who needs them now? Everything can just go to hell! Arya pulled on Jin's collar even more and smiled shyly as Jin's hands moved to her back and she murmured under her breath, "the zipper is to the side."
This time the intercom started to ring.
"Fuck!" Arya cursed and rested her forehead on Jin's and moved a little, "let me get it. Give me a second."
Jin nodded and Arya received the intercom trying to catch up her breath and asked, "yes?"
"It's from the reception ma'am. Sorry for disturbing you in the middle of the night. We have received an urgent message. Your colleague contacted us to immediately inform you to receive your phone."
Arya's brow instantly formed a frown and nodded, "sure."
After putting down the receiver and she looked at Jin who was now checking on both of their phones, "The agency," Jin pointed at their phone, "they called both of us."
Arya took her phone from Jin's hand and called back and mumbled, "you better have a reasonable excuse, Jong-il"
The phone was received almost in no time and Arya flared up, "It better be something important, Jong-il-sshi. Otherwise, I'll kill you!"
"You should come back Sunbaenim," Jong-il said hurriedly, "it is your computer. Something is happening here. You should see it!"
