Chapter 12

Read a/n at the end please🙃

Cassidy's POV

I was getting really tired about ignoring Jess and Grayson. They hung out more and more, and even though it hurt me, they looked really cute together.

I think they were secretly dating behind my back, but ignoring them just made me look childish.

I decided one day to go over to Jess and forgive her, because I missed her crazy self.

She was sitting at a table in our geography classroom at lunch, scribbling words into her textbook.

"Jess?" I half-whispered, fiddling with my hands. She looked up at me, dropping her pen.

"What," she said, quiet harshly. My heart was thumping in my rib cage, and my hands started to get clammy. I stuffed them into my jacket pockets and I carried on.

"I'm r-really sorry for ignoring you. I should have just forgiven you," I blurted, "I was being really immature."

She stared at me for a few seconds, but then embraced me in a tight hug.

"Thank God, Cassidy!" she sighed, relieved. I smiled a little as she pulled back. I wasn't so angry at her or Grayson anymore. It would take some time to get back to normal with Grayson - friend wise - but I wasn't that angry anymore.

••••

Ethan had dropped me off at my science classroom after lunch, sneaking a quick kiss on my forehead. I rolled my eyes at him as he went down the corridor, but when I entered my class, a small smile crept onto my face.

"Okay class, settle down now." My teacher eyed me even though I wasn't talking. I sat next to Grayson, and like every other science class, we didn't speak.

I have to end this sooner or later. I thought to myself while Ms Flingsby wrote on the board.

"Today we will be doing an experiment, and it is all about working together." Great. Normally we just had to write stuff down.

Grayson went to get the equipment while I got some goggles. We didn't speak to each other. We just started the experiment silently.

I kept on hesitating to speak. Why couldn't I speak? What was I going to say? Grayson I forgive you?

Throughout the whole lesson, I said nothing. Nothing seemed to come out of my mouth, however many times I tried. We were packing up our equipment when I spoke.

"Do we stick the sheet in?" Really? That's all you can say?! I scorned myself. I already knew that we had to stick in the sheet.

"Yeah." he mumbled. I nodded and that was that. I couldn't bring myself to say anything else.

"Good afternoon, class." Our teacher dismissed us from our class just as the bell rang. Grayson was walking out of the classroom as I trailed behind him. He slid out of the door and down the corridor.

"Grayson, wait!" I yelled after him. He turned around to see who was calling him. When he spotted me, his eyes widened. I approached him slowly as everyone else walked past us or lingered around us to see what was going on.

Couldn't they go away?!

"What?" he replied as he stared into my eyes. I looked away and heat rushed up to my cheeks.

"I just want to say that I forgive you." I whispered so that only he could hear it and started to leave.

"Cassidy!" he ran back after me, grabbing my arm. "I'm so sorry. I really wish I could have gone back to that day and made everything go right. I didn't mean to hurt you, Cassidy. I'm so sorry." He pulled me into a hug and I hugged him back, breathing in his scent.

We walked down the steps of the school, and I spotted Ethan waiting for me by the gates. He smiled his cheeky grin but it disappeared when he saw Grayson.

When we approached him, I reassured him: "It's okay, I forgave him." He nodded but didn't say anything, his jaw clenched.

"Dude, I'm sorry. I really am. I should have just stayed away." Grayson smiled at Ethan, and a tiny corner of Ethan's mouth slid up slowly.

••••

We had walked home together, for the first time, and it was so fun. We entered a few shops along the way and just messed around in them, either getting kicked out or banned from going there again.

"Well that shop was shit anyways." laughed Ethan as we stumbled out of phone repairing store.

"We don't want to be kicked out of McDonalds, that's for sure!" I pointed over to McDonalds, and we walked the whole way to our houses without disrupting another store.

"Wanna come over, Cassidy?" Grayson suggested.

"I think my mom wants me to be at home today." I waved them goodbye as we entered our houses. "Mom!" I yelled, the house echoing my voice.

"Honey?" came a worried reply.

"Mom, what's wrong?" I started, hurrying up the stairs as my heart started to pick up its pace.

"Why is this person texting you these things?" she asked me as I approached her. I went over to my laptop, and squinted at the screen.

On my iMessages, I had quite a few texts from an unknown number. They read:

Unknown: hey baby girl

Unknown: i know you want me

Unknown: remember that night we met?

Unknown: I could have fucked you right then and there

My heart started racing, and I looked up at my mom, wide-eyed.

"Mom," I started quickly, "I honestly have no idea who this is! You see! It's unknown!"

"Okay honey, but please delete the conversation!" she rubbed my back and walked over to the door.

"Mom?" my voice cracked a bit, "I'm scared. I might know who this person is."

"Then make sure you don't go home by yourself, okay? You have Ethan and Grayson living right next to you, so you'll be safe!"

••••

The next day at school, all I could think about were the texts. Of course I deleted the conversation, but he had texted me again that morning. I deleted it again, but he had said that he would come.

I had blocked his number, and I didn't get another text. Of course, I didn't tell Ethan or Grayson or even Jess about it, because they would only get worried.

I was fiddling with my pencil in Maths when Ethan tapped my back from behind me.

"You alright?" he asked.

"Yeah," I mumbled, but he wasn't convinced. I smiled to cover up the anxiety on my face.

"MISS PARKER TURN AROUND!" yelled my teacher at me. "DETENTION!" Wow, these teachers were harsh. I sighed and turned around.

"Sorry." Ethan whispered at me while our teacher blabbed on about how to find the area of a trapezium.

"Looks like we've run out of time for this class. Class dismissed." Our teacher stated as the bell rang.

I stuffed all my books into my back and slid as fast as I could out of the classroom, but when I opened the door, someone pulled me back my wrist.

I turned abruptly to face Ethan.

"Where are you going?" he asked, concerned.

"I have history now." I said, trying to sound okay, but my voice hitched in my throat.

"Okay, you're telling me what's wrong after school, whether you like it or not!"

"Fine," I sighed, "But I really have to go. See ya." I walked down the corridor quickly to my next class.

••••

I had gone to the bathroom for the last few minutes of my history lesson and went straight to the cafeteria and sat at the table where Grayson, Jess, Ethan and I sat.

I leaned my head against my hand and tapped my fingers continuously on the table with my other.

People started to rush in threw the blue doors in the corner of the room, and from the corner of my eye, I saw people staring at me with dirty looks spread across their faces.

The noise started to pound in my head and I closed my eyes tightly. As people walked past my table with their trays, they whispered things like: "has she got mental issues or something?" and "why the fuck is she closing her eyes?".

After a few minutes, Ethan arrived and sat next to me, cupping my face in his hands.

"Are you going to tell me now?" he looked at me with a worried look on his face.

"Okay," I breathed out, "You know those guys you saved me from one night? One of them found my number and is stalking me. Of course, he knows where I live and I'm scared shitless."

There was a slight pause before Ethan muttered in a deep voice: "I will make sure that they won't touch you again, okay? You're safe with me!"

Without warning, he leaned in and our lips collided, moving in sync. I didn't move away, because I wanted him to kiss me. I wanted him to carry on kissing me. He leaned away after a few seconds, because people were starting to look at us.

"By the way, I have football practise today." he added with a cheeky tone in his voice.

"I have detention, so I'll meet you out at the back?"

"Sure, baby."

I looked down and rested my head on his shoulder, a sly smile crawling onto my face. He flung his arm around my shoulder and hugged me tight.

I guess he had convinced me.
