Cassidy's POV

Jess was applying the last bit of mascara on her long lashes as I fixed her hair. She had a nice pale pink skater skirt with a white top, a big jean jacket and Nike Air Force trainers.

"Done!" I smiled at her, but I was trying to swallow the big knot in my throat. Why did I feel like crying?

"Are you sure you're okay with this?"

"Um, duh?" I laughed in a way that I thought was brightly, but Jess suspected something.

"Come," she pulled me over to my bed as I furrowed my eyebrows together. "I think you like Ethan."

"What? No." I scoffed, laughing nervously.

"You're really bad at lying, Cassy." she laughed at me. "I don't have to go!"

"Oh shut up and leave, you know you want to!"

"If you insist." she giggled as we went down stairs.

I was in nothing but my tracksuits, a baggy shirt and Gray's hoodie because I wasn't going anywhere.

"Wish me luck!" Jess called after me as she walked down my porch.

"For what? It's going to go great!" I waved at her and closed the door slowly behind me.

I had a strange feeling that something bad was going to happen.

Ethan's POV

I was at home preparing myself for the date I had with Jess, when Grayson came into my room.

"Uh, Ethan?"

"Mmm hmm?" I nodded, pulling a purple jumper over my head.

"Jess called me to tell you that the date plans are cancelled. She was too embarrassed to tell you, so she wanted me to pass it on to you," Grayson scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, "She said she had forgotten that her cousins were coming over."

"Oh," I sighed, sitting on my bed. "Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure!" he proclaimed.

"Okay."

"Sorry, buddy." he closed the door and I lay on my bed, my stomach facing the ceiling.

I was going to have to study now.

Grayson's POV

Ethan can take lies so easily.

I looked in the mirror of my room and examined myself. I wasn't wearing anything too formal or informal.

"Hey, uh, I'm going to McDonalds, want something?" I poked my head around Ethan's room door and saw him by his table, studying.

"Big Mac with extra fries, thanks." he responded, not lifting his head.

I grabbed the keys and slipped out the front door, pulling my coat on. Jess was going to be in for a surprise.

I entered the cafe and I instantly felt a wave of warmth welcome me. I looked around and saw Jess on her phone, her wavy hair covering a bit of her face.

Wow she was pretty.

I went over to the counter to get a hot chocolate then sat in front of her.

"Etha-Grayson? What are you doing here?" she looked at me, wide eyed.

"Ethan couldn't make it, because he caught a cold last night. He told me to come her and tell you, because his phones not working." I sipped on my hot chocolate nonchalantly, waiting for her response.

"Oh." she sounded disappointed. "Weren't you supposed to be with Cassidy today?"

Shit.

"Uh," I quickly mumbled, "We-we-"

"Grayson," she eyed me carefully, "What's going on?"

"We broke up!" I stuttered. Jess choked a little on her hot chocolate.

"What?! She didn't tell me that? Is that why she was sad today?"

She was sad today?

"Uh, yeah." I mumbled, looking away from Jess.

"What happened?!" she cried frantically. There was no one is the cafe, thankfully.

"I don't know. I just, broke up with her....because I've fallen for someone else..." I looked her straight in the eyes and she widened hers, fear in her eyes.

"Look, Grayson, I'm sorry-"

"It's fine, I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable." My voice trailed off as I rested my head against my hand, sighing.

"No, no, you didn't!"

"Then why are you hesitating? You didn't have anything with Ethan!"

"I couldn't do that to Cassidy!" she sighed now, closing her eyes.

"She doesn't really have to know..." I whispered.

Cassidy's POV

Where was Grayson? He was supposed to have been at my house at 4:00pm but it was 5:00pm.

I decided to go and check on Jess, and she was probably at Grayson's house.

I walked briskly to his house and knocked on the door a couple of times.

"Cassidy?" Ethan opened the door and he was in an adidas jumper with tracksuits.

"Hi, is Jess here." I asked sharply.

"No.... She's with her cousins?"

"What?" I pulled a confused face at him, my eyebrows furrowing.

"Yeah, Grayson told me. Hey, now that I think about it, he hasn't come back with my McDonalds for an hour." he scratched the back of his neck lazily.

"Didn't you go on a date with her?" my heart started to pick up its pace.

"No..."

"Okay, thanks," I walked down the steps and down their porch. "For nothing." I mumbled angrily under my breath when he had closed the door.

I had made my way to the cafe where Jess was supposed to be with Ethan. I could hear a few loud laughs and as I turned the corner of the street, I saw Jess with Grayson.

I backed up to eavesdrop on their conversation.

It shouldn't be anything bad, right? I mean, Grayson is faithful, right?!

"Today was great." Jess hugged Grayson. Grayson smiled at her and inched his face closer to hers. Tears started to prickle my eyes.

Jess didn't hesitate. She went right for it and kissed Grayson passionately.

"YOU FUCKING TRAITORS!" I yelled at the top of my lungs at both of them. Tears were spilling down my cheeks now.

They both immediately broke from the kiss. They were both wide eyed, but Jess was approaching me.

"Cassidy-"

"SHUT UP! I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY BEST FRIEND! YOU FUCKING BITCH YOU JUST BETRAYED ME!" I spit, backing away.

"But you broke up with him! He came onto me!" she cried.

"Not now," Grayson mumbled at her.

"WHAT?!" I screamed at Grayson. "I NEVER BROKE UP WITH YOU!"

"What?!" Jess looked at Grayson. He wasn't saying anything.

"Okay! I told Jess that I had broken up with her because I want her to be my girlfriend." he blurted.

My breath got caught in my throat, and I stumbled backwards as if he had just stabbed me.

I yanked off his hoodie, "Here. I never loved you anyway."

I ran all the way home, not looking back.

Ethan's POV

I had finished studying my science and maths when the front door slammed. Grayson walked up the stairs furiously, his jaw clenched.

"Where's my food?" I groaned, my stomach grumbling.

"Shut the fuck up. You always have to ruin everything." He spit at me.

Okay.

I ignored him and figured he was on his man period. (A/N Baahahahhaha I actually wrote that😂😂)

As I stumbled down the stairs, I took out my phone from my pocket and called Jess.

"Ethan?"

"Hi Jess. Are your cousins still there?"

"What?"

"Your cousins." I insisted. The other end of the line went dead. "Hello?"

"Open the door."

There was a knock at the door, and I opened it to see Jess, dressed up and furious.

"What?" I was really confused, my mind not functioning properly after all the revising.

She climbed up the stairs of our house and I followed her, closing the front door. She opened a door upstairs, but it was Grayson's room.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ETHAN, CASSIDY AND I?" she yelled at him. I was standing in the corridor, my mind whirling.

"I LIKE YOU NOW, OKAY?" It hit me. Grayson had gone to see Jess? He had lied to me?!

"I DON'T CARE! YOU BREAK UP WITH CASSIDY PROPERLY, NOT BY LYING! YOUR SUCH A FUCKING IDIOT!" she screamed and left, leaving me staring at him, my fists clenched.

"You know I like Jess and you take her away from me? I liked Cassidy and you took her too. YOU STEAL EVERYTHING FROM ME! WHY DIDN'T YOU STAY WITH CASSIDY AND LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE?"

"YOU DIDN'T LIKE CASSIDY, YOU LIKED BLAKE SO SHUT THE FUCK UP. GET OUT." he cried back. I slammed his door and went over to Jess.

She was climbing through my window.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"To Cassidy. She won't let me in through her front door." She climbed onto the tree which was in between Cassidy's house and mine, and across it, opening Cassidy's window. There was a slight yell as Jess climbed through the opposite window.

Cassidy's POV

"WHAT THE FUCK!" I yelled as Jess startled me by climbing through my window.

I should really keep it locked.

"What are you doing here? GET OUT!" I yelled at her, wiping my tears.

"Grayson planned it, okay? I didn't know anything!"

"BUT YOU STILL KISSED HIM!" I screamed at her, trying to get my point across.

"HE HAD TOLD ME THAT YOU GUYS HAD BROKEN UP!"

"SO YOU KISSED HIM ANYWAY? WHAT TYPE OF FRIEND WOULD DO THAT?!" I cried at her, my voice hiccuping as I spoke.

"You know what," She crossed her head gently, "Do what you want. You're not with Grayson anymore, are you?"

She left me hanging with the though stuck in my head.

It was over.
